Morning!

I had my first cup of coffee out on the patio with Jake, while we watched the new day break. But I'll have my second cup of coffee with you all.

I can hear Carley moving around upstairs and here she comes now. She and Monica came out yesterday and spent the night, and Caitlyn is taking the train out later this morning. Carley is asking for pancakes at Cracker Barrel already, so as soon as everyone is ready we'll head out. Our BBQ is this afternoon, and it looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day for it.

Ruth, I hope you had a lovely afternoon yesterday, as well. Prendetevi il tempo per fermarsi e odorare le rose di oggi!

Good morning!

Ruth - good luck, I hope it remains a "me" day. I'm really starting to enjoy working in my garden this time. In the past...not so much.

Cottage - enjoy the cracker barrel for me!

Me - didn't go on a run yesterday b/c of my everlasting GI issues...so we went garage sale-ing as a family...I had a great time!! (the DH suffered thru it). Because of you ladies, I bought a dehydrator... $4 . Now, I'm going to have to watch Cyndi's posts for everything she dehydrates.

I am off for a short run now, then a parenting class I think I'll stop by at at church. It's killing the DH to stay in, so we'll probably go to some state park or somethin' to play. Maybe I can work on the basement a bit too!

Have a beautiful day!

Good morning

Chelby - How was date night?

Debbie - Funny that I don't think about the other side when I vacation in your beautiful state.

Cyndi - I fell off my bike in the rain last summer. I have now learned my lesson about wet surfaces. Did the rain hold off for you?

Heidi - Kayaking... Near the coast or on another kind of water?

Natalia - That sounds like great progress for your son. I had not heard about that.

Francis - Good for you!

Ruth - Enjoy your day for yourself.

Linda - I had to satisfy my curiosity and translate that! Sounds like you have a great day in store.

Twynn - The park sounds much better to me than working on the basement!

Yesterday I managed to not eat one bite at the graduation party I attended... but... I came home and overate OP food in front of the TV instead. Sigh. I think there was a connection there. Back on track today. I am actually spending my afternoon "house sitting". My mom's friend died this week and it is my assigned task to occupy her house during the memorial service.

Good morning ladies!

It's a beautiful day already - I can't wait to get home from church and out in that kayak! My mom lives on a small pond, we swim and kayak in her front yard.

I ate too much yesterday, too. Today should be a better day though. I'm trying to learn not to treat stress with food, but it's taking a while for that lesson to sink in. Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day.

We've got some more yard work and house work to do today too, in between kayaking and other fun so it should be a busy day. My mom would prefer yard sales and Cracker Barrel I'm sure - but I'm trying to avoid restaurants and places where I'll buy things I don't need......

Enjoy your Sunday my friends!

Good Morning

I'm on the fly this AM since the pool opens at 730 and everyone needs something before I go. I'll drop back by later! Have a great day everyone!

just a quick hello while hiding from the sun for a few minutes Today is Day 0 for garden planting. Everything I have is going in and the other spots will be planned and prepped for later in the week. Tomorrow we are having an adventure day - either kayaking or hiking or both! (and birding, of course!)

Hi girls!!
fcmonroe: yes, ds7 (Carter) has AS (Asperger's syndrome). He has made some progress- we had some issues in kindergarten with meltdowns ..he has a major sound sensitivity so noises like the bells, fire alarm etc and Very jolting for him. And its had to focus when you can hear everything around you so well. Luckily his teacher was amazing. This yr he has not had one single meltdown! he is adapting, and I spoke with the teacher regarding his need for routine, so she made up a board to make it clear "what's next" at all times. It has helped a lot, I think. He still has issues with social skills, use of pragmatics/theory of mind, and motor skills, but he's on the list for occupational therapy.
Is your guy autistic or AS or PDD-NOS?

You know they are proposing to change the next DSM_V so that Asperger's term will no longer exist. All of them will be called Autism Spectrum Disorder. It has its good and bad points. However I would hesitate to use the word autism as people may get an inaccurate idea. Sometimes I say it's a sensory processing disorder (which is exactly what it is)
or simply that he's on the spectrum.

Sorry for the long post guys, there's not many people I can talk about with this - I think I am driving my dh and mom crazy!

Cottage- YUM! I went to the Cracker Barrel once when traveling, and was impressed. My brunch was not exactly OP though. LOL I think it may have involved tons of cheesy hash browns with some kind of sauce. LOL
