Adapting.

Different things have worked at different points in my weight loss. I have always counted calories, but to get off the last 10 pounds I have stopped eating carbs at night.

My workouts have changed a lot too. I used to do 60 minutes of cardio, now I do 45 and I do strength training. Running shaped my body. I've been a runner for almost 2 years now.

Well right now I am trying portion control. It seems to be working out better than other methods I have tried in the past, but I really just started. I have my dinner on a saucer and I don't even get hungry later. So I'm gonna try to stick with it.

Well, the biggest thing that's working for me (and I only have eight more pounds to lose! By 4th of July....) is that I break up my exercise all through the day.

First thing in the morning, I do what I call a "small yoga"--15 minutes of stretch with some weight-bearing poses (I have a bum knee, so I work mainly to stretch and strengthen that...and my arms).

At my morning job (verrrrry sedentary), I work at my desk for one or two hours---then I jump up and race walk around the building (sometimes inside, sometimes out) for ten/fifteen minutes.

Then I sit for another couple of hours, then race-walk for another ten or fifteen.

At my afternoon job (walk and lift and stand and move...at least a little!), I take the bus, *but* I don't take the closest one....I walk (one mile) or bike (two miles, and my knee loves biking!) to catch another bus that I can incorporate a little fresh air/exercise.

And then at night, maybe I'll do a little stretching in the kitchen whilst cooking---but maybe I won't!

I find this works really, really well. I could never find the time (or committment!) to do huge gobs of exercise all at the same time. But breaking exercise up into bite-sized pieces during the day has been very doable...and I've lost about thirty-five pounds, with those darned pesky eight more to go...

Counting calories was making me a little crazy. Now I'm only eating when hungry or if it seems like I haven't eaten in a while. Seems to be working OK for now.
