Day 3 and going really well. Turned down banana bread and ate black bean brownies instead. I'm really liking my workout lately so that helps, i don't want to throw away all the progress.

Yay Squishy squirrel. It feels so good to eat well when you're tempted by ribs or other yummy looking stuff.

Happy, you are awesome for 72 days! I wish one day i can say that. Let me change that, one day I will say that!

Hikergirl, i did the same thing yesterday, had a little treat and stopped, it felt good

Mcjess, i'm saying what you had wasn't a binge. Poor planning happens to everyone.

Foxy and koceank, no worries, every day is a new start

Yay Tyla and Just sharing!

Blairsey - you can do it, don't give up!

Diornotwar - yummy burgers, good planning

Just got done binging on cereal :-( As I've done so many times in the past. So I'm studying for a pharmacoeconomics exam and of course it's putting me to sleep. Next thing ya know I'm finishing off my Cheerios ands starting in on the Kashi cereal. All just to keep my hands busy and my eyes open. Now my hearts pounding, I'm dying of thirst, and I know as soon as I stand and stretch my stomach I am going to feel absolutely horrible :-( I should've just gone to bed and said "screw it" to the studying...blah

Dugserb...take it eeeeaaasy on yourself.

Day 14 bingefree is done, however I am on the thin edge of the wedge from a compulsive overeating episode. Last night I started to eat some things and I overate and did not eat "consciously"...I was able to stop--but just barely.

Maryjane -- I love black bean brownies! Have you ever tried them frozen (or chilled?) delish!

D -- Maybe next time you can plan snacks to have while studying? Set aside some in pre-portioned baggies? I hope your exam went well though!

Congrats on being able to stop hikergirl...that is the absolute hardest part for me.

I'm starting Day 3 and feeling confident (though that doesn't really mean much...). I'm reading a book about Intuitive Eating right now and while it makes sense, I can't help but think "Is this just another "diet" book in the long line of books I've bought? Just another "fad" I'm trying?" Eating when your hungry doesn't seem like a fad, but my perception of eating and food in general is so twisted that I feel like it can't really be *that* simple. It doesn't sound easy, but it does sound simple.

Another question for you chicks...how do you break the all or nothing mentality? Has anyone had any success with this? Any tips? I'd love to hear them!

i am actually working on the 'all or nothing' mentality right now.

briefly: Jan 1, 2007 I decided NO junk food (no bday cake, no chocolate, no nothing!). April 2009 I had lost 140lbs and felt i could allow some treats back in my diet. April to Dec 2009 I battled binging again and again and again. Longest I went during that period without a binge was about 55 days.

Dec 27 2009 I had a lightbulb moment - I DESERVE to look and feel this good. I EARNED it. I dont want to destroy all my hard work. I am now 73 days into 'maintaining' my weight and attitude towards 'treats' and how they fit into my life. It is not easy. I do struggle. I dont have treats/trigger-foods in the house yet, only when out. I hope to one day not care if they are in the house or not. Baby-steps... allowing the food to hit my mouth without guilt and realise that NO ONE can eat anything they want, whenever they want, without consequences... so why should i be able to?

whenever I doubt myself, I repeat my montra:

To unconditionally accept myself as a beautiful, loveable woman who does all in her power to better her mind and body everyday.

I had to go and google them! And then somehow a can of black beans ended up in my grocery cart today.

Day 23 and I'm kicking it's butt!

Today has been busy, which makes it easy.

I am so proud of myself for making it through the past few days.

Black bean brownies are really simple!

1 can of black beans
1 box of Brownie mix.

Mix beans with brownie mix then bake according to box instructions!

I like to then stick them in the freezer and eat them cold.

I was planning to use this recipe:

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Black-B...es/Detail.aspx

Do you puree the beans before you add to the brownie mix?

Day 29. Yay!

Happytobeamonof3, here's the trouble with sugary treats. They make you want more, and it's not always easy to stop. Studies show that's what happens. Not only to us, but to thin people, too. So don't feel deprived or wish that someday you'll get to have these treats in the house. Sugar is not that healthy for anybody. (Can you tell, I'm tying to stop eating sugar.) P.S. I'm proud of all of your accomplishments. Great job!

tyla - i do agree - stopping is SOOO hard when you get a taste of it... for me, it is controlled in that i only have buy a single serving treat, or throw out the 'extra', or (easiest) is only treat when i am out with someone else and have already planned on the calories for it... with two young boys, at some point, things like peanut butter are likely going to be requested and i am doing to be ready for it...baby steps now... as for 'pure' junk - they can have a treat now and then but it will not be a staple in my house and i am sure they will thank me (at some point!) ha!

thin or fat - sugar is sugar... healthy is healthy...

For me, it's always been easier to say "no" than to say "stop"

One whole week binge-free!!

I'm on day 2, did good and now the weather is nicer so I can walk everyday. That helps!
