JoJoJo, hello!!! Thanks for the quotes. You always inspire me. I think of you plugging away up there in such a consistent way, drinking sugar free coca and maintaining, maintaining, maintaining.

Another quote (from a long-ago forum at Cyberdiet ... I don't know who posted it, so apologies to them for not citing properly). I've often used this as a walking mantra, which is what it was posted as ... putting one foot in front of the other, saying: "What do you want?" Taking another step: "How much do you want it?" Then reciting as you go along.

I'm not trying to be facetious here, though this does sound kind of flippant. It's my DS's favorite saying and oddly enough it gets me through those trying times when my patience is frayed.

"Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things."

Hmmm. Have to think about that one while I do my Pilates! Thanks Upandaway! (P.S. IMO, it's ok to be facetious if you want!)

That made me think of inspirational book titles, though, such as "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" by somebody! There is one that I like called: "You Can't Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought" ... again, I don't know the source and sorry again.

Here's more old sayings that I don't know who said, but think they would make fine fitness/diet mantras:

"Today is the first day of the rest of your life!"

"All things come to him who waits!"

"Knock and the door shall open!" (Ok, that's in the Bible)

"Never put off 'till tomorrow what you can do today!"

"If you can dream it, you can achieve it." (Please IGNORE the famous ice cream company that says, "If you can dream it, we can ice cream it!" ... just IGNORE that).

"Good, better, best, never let it rest, until the good is better and the better best."

"I'm a lean, mean Amazon queen!" (I think Amarantha said that, but she may have swiped it!)

Ummm, how about this?

Amarantha,

Here's one I have stuck all over the house:

"MODERATION, Learn It, Live It, Love It."

I have a twist on that all things come to those who wait.

"Good things come to those who wait..
But GREAT things come to those who go and work for it."

This next one is a favorite of mine. It can apply to any food plan or even to using this 3fc web site.
"If you follow this food plan we guarantee it will work.
If not... we will gladly refund your misery."

One more... "If not today... WHEN ?"

2cute2bfat: I love your twist and the other quotes as well; thanks for the reminder, too: "If not today ... WHEN?"

Here's a variation (again, I have no idea who said it and am too lazy to look it up): "Defer not to tomorrow to be wise, for tomorrow's sun may never rise."

I'd say that'd apply to fitness, too!

OOh, I like that, Amarantha!

Here's my favorite quote from the learned Jedi Master, Yoda...

"Do...or do not...there is no try."
