Welcome! You're not alone here, and we're all pulling for you.

I want to echo what was said before about choosing one small thing to change, and sticking with that until its not as much of a struggle any more, than picking another thing, and so on.

Start with getting rid of the soda, if you want. Going straight to water may be really hard, as depending on where you live the water may not taste too good to you. I'm getting my husband off sodas, and he doesn't even realize it! I've started buying the sugar-free powdered drink mixes - lemonade, berry, etc. that you find in the kool-aid section of the grocery store. The flavors are really good, its pretty cheap, and they're very low calorie. Usually about 5 cal. per serving, instead of over 100 cal. per serving of soda. Try that for awhile, and see if it helps. You may find that you feel so much better getting enough water in your system that you are ready to tackle something else.

Whatever you choose, don't give up! You CAN do it!

welcome...

I would start by changing one thing. Instead of 2 2liters of soda..do one...or try 3 cans instead. While stopping and switching to water would be ideal..take from a former soda-a-holic..it is not that easy. I use to drink atleast a 2 liter of Dr Pepper a day. Now..I have one can at work..and actually I hardley finish it..and maybe an 8oz glass at dinner. This is not everyday either. YOu can do it!

KNOW that we are here for you..share you whining..fears..and sucessus with us!!!

I just want to welcome you here - you have gotten some excellent advice already. I joined 3FC at the beginning of this month and the support here is invaluable.

Be sure to pop in the "Positive" thread started by colormerd47 from time to time - it has really helped me to stay motivated to think on the positive things I and others are doing here. You can find it in the 300+ club forum.

Welcome!!

Last August I weighed 370 lbs, smoked 2 packs a day. All I ate was crap and too much of it, particularly pastries, french fries, etc. I gave up full-sugar soda in 1999 so at least that was one demon I didn't have to battle, but I did give up diet soda (and all processed foods) when I began my journey to health.

You're getting wonderful advice on this thread. Some people need to make a radical change all at once, some need to do it in increments. But I think the MOST important thing of all is just to keep telling yourself that you CAN do this, you WANT to do this, and you WILL succeed. Sometimes you have to take it moment-by-moment...but it CAN be done. You can do it!!!!
