Hey Chicks! I'm back at school today getting ready. We are not required to be here until tomorrow, but I really want to get a head start this year. I hate to feel behind before I've gotten started

Patti- Like Vickie, I am new to you, too. I've been posting since May, so we haven't chatted. I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. Like someone else said, as I read your post I thought about all of my nephews, I have 5, and could not imagine your sorrow. I'm praying for peace for you and your family. Also, I know how much work it is to plan a wedding. My dh was scheduled to be married on June 7, but cancelled her wedding a few weeks before the date. I was happy about her decision, but it is a let down after all of the planning is done and nothing happens. I was smiling when I read about your dd saying that her wedding day was the happiest day of her life.

Vickie-I'm glad you're okay, and that you got a new "do". I'm having a wacky hair day, myself.

Rhonda-Those pancakes are great for breakfast as the "bread" for an egg mcmuffin!

Paula-Congrats on the loss. Wonder what's causing the 2-3 pound gains?

Tracie-I can't wait to try the bread. I'll have to hide from my dh or make him some whole wheat.

Sandra-Good luck on your shootin'. It sounds like you all are having a great time.

GTG file some papers, aaaaarhg! Just thinking about it makes me hyperventilate! TTFN

Sloan, I remember the "back to school" excitement. I was like you and would go back early.

Curtis is still at the venue shooting. So's Aya. I shot this AM. I met the lady from Virginia this morning and we got to shoot together. We'll prob shoot together all week. I really like her. She and I are a lot alike.

I just read the posts on page 1.

Vickie, I am so glad you weren't having any problems from the storms. Aya didn't get in to Denver (from Boston via Chicago) till late last night. We didn't see her till this afternoon. She and Curtis' groups shoot opposite times from me.

Paula, I hope we get some rains back home in Texas. We need it. We're in Colorado this week and are heading on to Montana Sunday. (Now I'm not wanting rain here in Colo Sprgs, but it's looking like we'll get some every day the rest of the week.) Oh, well, life goes on and the arrows will keep flying.

Rhonda, I got my cut/color on the 23rd. Those pancakes sound good. I'lll try them when we get to Montana next week.

Nancy, congratulations on making the halfway mark. I am happy for you.

WTG Nancy. Whatever you do, you'll enjoy yourself and bask in your glory.

Sloan, as I walked across campus today I thought "this will be last 'back to school' year"! I'm a little nostalgic but mostly READY to join Sandra and Vickie in blessed retirement!

Sweet DH said that he wasn't hungry for dinner and suggested that we just have cereal, so I'm not cooking tonight. That's always a treat. I think I'll do my DVD.

We got a new roof and skylight yesterday. It's now, so let's hope it doesn't leak!

We have on skylight in the condo. It's over the tub/shower. I don't know if it leaks or not.

Rhonda, I understand the happy tears. I remember back in Aug. 97 (I knew I was retiring at Christmas and moving to Montana.) I got weepy at the Johnson County Old Settlers' Reunion Parade. I thought it was going to be my last. It may be. You never know. I know we're missing it this year. I think it's going on now.

No leaks!

I've had the skylight since 1991, so it's not new really. It's a replacement for the one that was leaking in the study. I have another in the living room and it has never leaked.

I did my DVD: feeling smug and virtuous
During the last 6 days, I've done some aerobics for 3 of them.

Hi Ladies

HAD A WONDERFUL TIME WITH MY KIDS AND GRAND KIDS THIS EXTENDED WEEKEND.

So now its quite and peaceful again Leo is napping in his chair and I was doing a full load of wash.

My DD & DS and the grandchildren arrived on Sat 8/2 and stayed until 8/5. They didn't want to go home on Monday so we took them on a boat ride to Martha's Vineyard. They loved it and enjoyed counting the jelly fish that were into the water.

I haven't had a chance to read any of your post but I will do so.

I haven't decided whether to weigh-in on Thursday as I wasn't watching what I was eating.I probably gained a few pounds again.

Going to stay on HARD CORE no bread or WPA's for the week. I like to lose 4 lbs this month that would bring me down to 160,and than hopefully out to the 150's again.

Have to go and start my next wash

Will post later

Hugs

Hey chicks-I've been busy, busy, busy at school today. I'm feeling very organized so far. I hope I can just keep that momentum going. Happy news! My scale says I'm down to 133.8 today Just 9.2 pounds to go.

Sandra-Sounds like things are still going well. Knock 'em dead!!

Maryann-I'm so glad your visit was wonderful. I know you feel rejuvenated. Don't worry about the weight; family time is also important. How's Leo?

Rhonda-glad it didn't rain on your head!! I think having skylights would be cool! Also, wtg on the exercise. I've slacked off the last few days. I've got to get back to the treadmill. I don't want to wish my life away, but I'm looking forward to retirement with my DH. I know it will be bittersweet, but it really sounds nice.

Hope the rest of you chicks are having a good day. I'm going home to my internet-free house, so I'll check in tomorrow. TTFN

Hi there. Day 2 of shooting is over. Curtis didn't shoot because of shoulder pain. He's planning to shoot again tomorrow or Friday, probably Friday. Waiting till then will give his shoulders more time to heal.

Sloan, I am impressed that you are so organized.

Rhonda, you get kudos for exercising.

Maryann, you sound very happy. I'm glad you had a good visit with your kids and grandkids. Life is good.

I don't shoot tomorrow till after lunch. Today I shot for about 4 hours. I was surprised that I'm not too tired tonight. I'm guessing lugging those waterhoses around back home helped get me into condition. We're going to watch"So You Think You Can Dance" tonight then crash. Tomorrow's another busy day flinging arrows. Life is good.

Hello All,

I hope you don't mind if I come back. I've been reading your posts most of the summer but haven't been posting much myself. I'd fallen off the wagon and was dragging behind I was planning on going back to ww and core this spring, but then we found out dh has rectal cancer and he can't eat much fiber or veggies, so I used that as an excuse to procrastinate, but I decided I need to get back on track or the weight I worked so hard to loose will all come back. So I was supposed to go to ww last Friday and then start the program on Sunday, but I didn't go to the meeting I decided since I know the plan to start on Sunday anyway. I used up most my WPA on Sunday (knew I would but didn't want to put it off again), but did well Mon and Tues, yesterday I stumbled a little bit, but I'm planning on getting right back on track today. Anyway that's a long winded synopsis of where I am right now.

Sloan - Congrats on the loss

Sandra - New house Couldn't handle living in the condo? Have fun flinging those arrows.

Maryann - sounds like you had a great weekend. Good luck at hard core, not even in my scope.

Paula - I like this weeks challenge. That's what I've decided to focus on to get back on track. Sounds like you're having a great summer with dd.

Nancy - I like to have a pedicure or massage. Although the other options sound good too, I just like the pampering.

Rhonda -

Vicki - have fun in that pool and come on jump back on with me, no excuses.

Well, I've gotta go grab breakfast and then we're going to a museum to see some live bats Doesn't that sound like fun, I'm taking my nephew for his b-day which was last week.

Have a great day everyone.

-Tech

back Tech! We oldsters have missed you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. What a shock for you both. If you've been reading then you know that you aren't alone on the board here with having a DH with cancer.

We wish you all good luck climbing back on board! You might find our weekly challenges fun and motivating.

*****************

I hope all are doing well. Sandra is #1 folks. Not just here but in the archery competition! Tell Curtis we feel for him, Sandra.

Today is a big day in my life. I have an interview with Canadian immigration about becoming a Canadian citizen. I've already been accepted as I understand the process and this is a formality. I've been here for 33 years as a permanent resident and applied a few years ago for citizenship. (There's a big back-up and it takes a long time to process people.) It's going to feel strange, but good, to be a dual citizen. If the two countries get into serious trouble with each other I may have to hide in the hills somewhere!!

Have a happy Core day everyone.

Donna. I have been hanging onto the wagon rungs with you, girl. I am sorry to hear of your husband's cancer and am wishing him the best and speediest of recovery. I know you're both under a lot of stress. You're a wise woman to get back on program if for nothing else but for some "normalcy" and "control." I highly suggest you go back to the meetings. (That advice is for me, too.) I am planning to rejoin next week when we get to Missoula.

We have been eating like we were on vacation since last September. Not good! As to our new home--the playhouse (Remember that?) was falling apart around us so we got rid of it and bought a new manufactured home to live and shoot in. We have a 20 yard range and Curtis an archery workshop inside it.

Rhonda, I couldn't be happier for you. I know your day will be wonderful. I'm so glad Doyle is there to share it with you. How special!

Vickie, we've dodged rain so far but it's looking like we may get wet while shooting today. Oh, well. I have a rain coat that we bought especially for archery.
