We nuke it too, but spray with butter type fat free or olive oil spray and sprinkle with seasoning salt and put it cut side up on plate, cover loosely, cook for 4-6 minutes depending on its size. It's also great to cook on grill, prepare the same way and just set on the grids. Small zucchini or yellow squash is great on the grill too with same seasoning but start it cut side down 1st to get nice grill marks.
