I keep thinking that I would be better off if I gave up my beloved Diet Coke, but I just can't bring myself to give it up right now. There are so many chemicals in the Diet Coke that I don't believe it's good for me, but then again I eat quite a few foods with chemicals in them too.

I am taking baby steps and going to start cleaning up my eating slowly, but I think that Diet Coke will be one of the last things to go.

Interesting thread!

I took a look at that article, and one line stood out: "the amount of phosphoric acid in soda is minimal compared to that found in chicken or cheese. And no one's telling women to stop eating chicken."

So, I don't know that it's the phosphoric acid we should be worried about!

It's hard to tell what's going on with the osteoporosis link. There's a correlation between the two, but that doesn't mean the soda causes the problem. I thought the article did a good job of not claiming we know it's a causal connection. They also had lots of suggestions for ways to improve calcium intake if you do drink a lot of soda. So that's something people might want to consider.

For your diet, it truly depends on how your body reacts to it. It may be triggering, it may not. It may have ill effects on your health, but not for everyone. My dentist said that the cavities that were forming on the sides of my teeth (which isn't consist with normal chewing of food) were caused by soda. Diet, Caffeine Free, Full Flavor...it doesn't matter. They're still not healthy for your teeth. So, I mean...that's something to consider while you continue to drink it.
