But I still was eating poorly on the weekends and wasn't exercising, or drinking enough water. Lately, within the last couple of weeks, things have really changed. I have cut my bad eating down to one meal a week. I have been eating more salads and keeping my meals at less than 400-500 cals each. I have cut drinking down to just friday and saturday nights. I have been averaging about 1700 cals, which is where I want to be. I am drinking more water. And the biggest, and hardest, change has been that during the week, I've been getting up at 4:00am to exercise! That is a huge deal not only because that's really freaking early, but because I hate exercise. We've also bought bikes and have been biking on saturday mornings. Yesterday, we went to this lake that has a path around it and we biked 5 miles! (that was totally accidental: we made it to what I thought was almost to the parking lot again when we discovered a dead end! We had to turn around and bike 2.5 miles all the way back, up and down hills in the hot hot hot heat. )

I am so worried that this is going to be like the last time I lost weight: a few years ago, I lost 40 lbs and was exercising etc, and I got an injury and just gave up and gained all the weight back. I hope that doesn't happen. I really feel like, at this point, I have some control about what is going on. I don't feel like I am letting food control me. I'm so scared. I am doing so well. Now that school has started (this past week), things are going to get hectic and I am going to be stressed and feel like I need all the time I can get to sleep. I am going to be wanting to eat for comfort. Atleast that is what I've done in the past. Will this be the time I do things differently? I hope so. I really do. I'm going to give myself a hug, because I need one right now:

trooworld, i lost touch with you! i think i needed more posts to be able to continue private messaging and i didn't realize that. I was drawn to this thread: LITTLE CHANGES ADDING UP, b4 I knew it was you because that's my very favorite topic! I have been driving my family crazy and everyone around me because I keep talking about something very boring: not extreme weight loss or extreme exercize or extreme dieting, as in, "I only ate once today..." No, I've been going on and on about how I had a "half" a cheese stick in stead of a "whole". About how I had "3" saltines instead of "5". About how when I didn't have time or energy to do a full on workout, so I did stretches or walked a bit. I'm like you: these changes really do add up! I have faith for that. I'm also like you: I wish the weight loss came faster this way. But, I guess it's like the studies show: that slow weight loss is usually more permanent. Right?? And, I think you will not gain it back this time; because, THIS time, you're making changes in your head and habits internally, not just the external calorie cutback/exercize formula. Miss ya! p.s. I have been biking around our lake, too. Last month I fell on my head--I think I told you about that. So don't forget to wear a helmet!! xoxx

Yay for small changes! It sounds like you are doing well...congrats. Last night, my hubby said that he thinks that this time, we will really do it..."it feels right." We have finally found what works for us. I hope he is right. You fell on your head? Ouch! We don't have helmets right now, and I am really uneasy about riding without them...I think we will have to get some before we ride again.

WANT2BETRUE ~ You are on the right track...small things WILL add up!

TROOWORLD ~Well KIDDO, did you make it to the LAKE? It seemed to be a little warm up here last Saturday, but with the weather changing you should have a lot of nice week-end days, to bike with your DH.

Have a great week-end....and....WEAR A HELMET!!....the dad in me strikes again!

YES, we did make it to the lake, though not as early as we wanted. It was full of walkers/cyclers so tomorrow we are going extra early. Yes, I said tomorrow. It feels good to be able to accomplish something I thought I couldn't do. I've been doing really well lately, even losing weight. It feels like the right time to lose weight for me. In the past, sometimes I've kept my weight on for old reasons haunting me, but now feels like the right time to let that go and lose the weight for ME!

You will be proud of me, we went to REI today and bought helmets! Up to this point, we've been riding without helmets but I am so clumbsy, it really wasn't a good idea to ride without them. 6:00am, here I come!
