Gamerchick.

I was never 250 but when I was 14 my highest was 230. Now I'm down 16 and down to 165(I lost all this within a year). I'll be happy to help you if you need it. My goal is 130 so I still have a little more to lose but it always helps talking to someone about it. Most of the people I know want to lost 20lbs and they're already 120lbs...So they really dont know how I felt. If you need anything about what to do I would be glad to help you. ;]

I want to get a little more information from you. Do you feel shame at the doctor because of your feelings or is it because of how your MD makes you feel?

You deserve a physician who will look at you with compassion and as a complete person, not just a diagnosis and a set of symptoms. If your MD knows you are trying to lose weight, s/he should offer to refer you to a physician or to her affiliated-hospital's weight control department. With your diabetes, an endrocrinology consult would not be out of the question. You are 17...are you still seeing a ped or a family practice doc?

If your own feelings are the greatest issue, then I hope that when you go and they weight you, regardless of the number, you can say to yourself and your doctor, "I already have put actions in motion that will change this. The next time, that number WILL be lower." If you can say that confidently, I think your feelings about being there will improve. That number is only temporary.

If your MD is the issue, get a new one. They are here to help; they are paid to provide healthcare. If you are not getting the help you need, you can (and should) find it somewhere else.

I'm alittle concerned for you because you say "I have no energy to do anything except sit at my computer, eat and then do nothing. But I'm not depressed anymore. I'm happy now and I'm living my life again somewhat"

Those two sentances sound pretty different/contrasting to me...

Not that I don't understand what you're saying because except the diabetes thing you're pretty much writting something I could have wrote except that I've been struggling with this my entire adult life!

I agree with the others about getting the diabetes under control first. We try and lose weight because it causes issues like that. Since you have it already that should take priority. I know going to the doctors isn't easy, but trust me they see worse things every day they aren't going to think badly of you.

I find that things "Click" for me off and on too. The trouble is finding something that really works. I feel like I had to try and try again until I'm at a point where I really understand my body and why certain ways of eatting work for me short term but I can't substain them more then 6 months.

Just to update. I appreciate everyone's advice. I haven't seen the doctor yet but I have been doing my rules for four days so far. I've been sticking at 1800 calories per day, despite when I wake up. I even had a 1250 calorie day. I think my real problem with sticking to a diet was just a rebellion thing where I didn't want to diet for anyone else but me. So now I am dieting for me, and that just leaves me with self discipline. I eat moderate to healthy foods now, and I'm soon going to add in exercise once I get perhaps a week under my belt.
