As a former leader, I agree. The girls only get a small portion of the profit.
Here in my area we have two different councils. The other one always allowed their sales to start a week before ours. What did they do? The family members brought the order forms into the factories. So once our sale started everyone said they had already bought some. That hurt what sells we did have. They didnt understand that council was from the next town (in the next state actually) and our local girls didnt receive any money from it. They didnt care as long as they got their cookies.
Both of my girls were in scouts for years. I cant do it anymore. Im burned out on selling...especially cookies. I always dreaded that time of year. My mom felt obligated to order a bunch so the girls could get the prizes.
If the girls dont sell then the parents are responsible for all costs of trips, supplies and etc.....
