  • Quote: Hello ladies,

Just coming here to share with you guys that I am oficially out of the obesity range and I am now overweight. Still a lot to go but I am quite happy to reduce my health risks. I went from a BMI of 35 to currently 29.4. I am very happy and feel proud of myself. To celebrate I am taking the rest of the afternoon off and gong out with husband to a nice day out tomorrow!!! Keep up the good work and don't discourage of your diet. Its hard but we can do it!
    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

So, this morning, I try on a pair of shorts that I tried 2 weeks ago that were too tight around my mid section....wearing them with comfort today!! woot woot!! On the other side of that, I decided to wear a brand new large Guy Harvey top I bought in the springtime~ nope, too big...they must run big, because I am no way a medium yet- I still have 14s I can't get in to...so I guess I'm just glad that I bought it on sale.... So glad that the farmers markets have started around the Cape, to finally have real fresh vegetables...*heaven* Does anyone know if we can have Bok Choy? It's not on my list, but cabbage is-also Pattypan squash? I figure, worst case scenario-those 2 things I treat as if they are on the restricted veggie list- at least for this week. The strawberries looked heavenly-I brought some of those home for my guy-and some beets for him too-anyhow- that's my story for today, as I sit enjoying my lunch of Rotini, cauliflower, wasabi greens, some good seasons dressing, salt and horseradish. I hope everyone is having a spectacular Saturday!
  • I only lost .2 this week. Feeling pretty discouraged since I didn't lose inches either and I thought I did really well. Other than having salmon twice, I was OP. My coach thinks I'm not eating enough so she said to add an extra boiled egg. My period finished yesterday so not sure if that has anything to do with it. The upside is my home scale said I lost 1 so maybe I should go by that. My home scale also puts me at 139 not 144. I'm going to change my ticker to reflect 139 because it just makes me feel better today

    blah blah blah

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do- if it keeps you from being discouraged and will keep you on track, IMHO-do it. You know, my friend went through something very similar- AND by doing what you've been advised to do with the egg- (she did hers with lunch) she started dropping again. If you're close to goal, everyone has said it slows way down. Don't be discouraged- you got this- and we got your back!
  • Quote: I don't travel for work only pleasure so I understand the water thing. I try to drink at least half of my daily requirement before I even have my breakfast packet. So by time we're on the road (usually by 9am) I have "gotten rid of" most of that. Then I try to drink at least two 8oz bottles worth over the next 3 or 4 hours (about the time we spend driving from point A to point B). Another 8oz or so with lunch then again at dinner. If for some reason I'm still lacking, I'll drink an extra hot tea or two (this water can count as long as tea is decaf) before bed. I only get up once or twice during the night to pee. That has been the norm for most of my adult life.

I am always the driver (I get carsick otherwise) so when I need to stop I don't have to wait for someone else to make the decision! I know where all the clean (and some not so clean) restrooms are along the entire stretch of IH 10 in Texas! And that is a long stretch!!!
Thanks, Frawniemae, good tips. Although on business travel I usually start pretty early so am not always able to drink so much in the morning. I do try to "catch up" in the evening, but sometimes I am just too far behind. I need to space it out during the day and just tell people I need a break if I need to go - after all, I doubt anyone would question a woman's need to use the facilities! !
  • Happy Saturday everyone! I've been reading all your posts from the last several days and you are all so encouraging!

    I hit 20 lbs lost today - 5 1/2 weeks in - I'll take it!

FunkyMonkey - I am SO like you in that if I lose "only" 3 I feel like I should have lost more - it's never enough LOL I also need to quit comparing myself to others - I see bigger losses than mine and think wow what am I doing wrong. My goal is 3 lbs per week - so far I'm on track for that :-)

Beth I am right there with you on the emotional eating and beer drinking! I was so disappointed that my "grown" kids who were in town with their kids didn't have time to see me on the 7/4 weekend but spent the entire week with their dad (he's about 1 1/2 hours away from me) that I caved and had several. The good part of it though is I felt so awful the next day physically I have no desire for any beer now for awhile! Also it took me a few days to take off what I put on because of it, that made it totally not worth it too!

dkc71 - 41 lbs in 13 weeks - wow! and while traveling too - that is awesome!

Frawniemae and Destony - you have come so far - very encouraging!

dickinsp awesome job on the body fat percentage drop! I am SOOO worried about that - I am 5'4" tall and started at 196 lbs and 45.6 body fat percentage! I was SOOOOOOO SHOCKED it was that high!! This is what yo-yo dieting will do for you. Losing weight WAY too many times and gaining it all back is the culprit. After 5 1/2 weeks my body fat is only down to 44.4% - I am worried I will never be in a healthy range even after reaching my goal weight :-( I'm trying not to focus on that but instead focus on the fact that I'm doing SOMETHING rather than nothing and feeling miserable - and my body is getting smaller. Maybe I'll have to focus on more fat loss when I'm at my goal ?

Sorry you are feeling discouraged Sunflower. I had a blah week myself and it is difficult to stay motivated. For what it is worth, I would totally use your home scale. My coach encourages it since that is the one you will be using in the future! So you are definitely 139, which is incredible!!
  • Such fantastic progress from everyone. Isn't it wonderful that we have come so far in such a short time?

I decided to edit my original goal to the BMI weight recommended for my height. I originally thought I would be happy at 130, but as I am nearing it I know I need to lose another 10 lbs. 130 was still in the overweight range.
  • Quote: Congratulations on your success so far - 41 pounds is awesome!! I have been traveling quite a bit for work this summer and have found it challenging. I do okay with the food, but have a hard time getting my water in - I am often in vehicles with others or in meetings wherein cannot duck out all the time to use the bathroom. How do you handle getting your water in when you travel?
I usually fly when I travel and have to drink strategically! I try to drink at least 1/4 of my day's water requirement before I leave the house. Then I always carry a water bottle with ice in it (Thermos) all day. Have a full glass for lunch and dinner, and some when I get to my hotel. Having to pee constantly is a small price to pay!

Thx so much. I plan on using my home scale now so I'm officially in the 130's. I'm not giving up because that will just make me feel worse. Only 9 lbs until goal, here is to another successful week. I had a NSV too yesterday, went shopping and bought two size 6 dresses and they fit perfectly! I must be doing something right

Thanks so much Destony. I'm going to give it a try even though I am so sick of eggs
  • Destony bok choy is a type of cabbage and pattypan is a summer squash so I'd say yes to both. If anyone knows any different, please share, as I eat these also! Not often, but I do include them in my menus.
  • I haven’t been around for a few days, just catching up with everyone.
We’re finally having some beautiful summer days here, so we’ve been out enjoying them. Spent a day driving up the lake, lots of pretty little beach towns to explore, had a nice picnic on the beach (yes, stayed OP and felt good about it!)

Looks like everyone has been making good progress, glad to see everyone is doing so well.

Quote: I'm nearly 5 weeks in, haven't cheated once, and have lost 17 pounds so far. I'm already one size down. Yes, I'm happy. Especially because, being post-menopausal, I've had such a hard time losing any weight at all over the last few years.
HereIStand – Congratulations. You’re off to an amazing start. I’m right with you on the “post-menopausal” …it just makes it a wee bit harder to get the weight off, but I think there are a few of us here that are too, and we’re all succeeding.

    Quote: Hi,
    I've lost 41 lbs in 13 weeks ....
... I've learned when at a daytime business function, there may not be something I can eat, so I eat ahead of time, or know that i'll have a big dinner w/ all my veggies and a juicy steak. I often lose the most the weeks I travel. I sense it's because I eat a few more calories than the meals I cook at home.
dkc71 –WOW! You’re really doing well, and sure sounds like you’ve got the travel problems licked. It’s interesting what you said about losing more when you eat a few more calories, I’ve heard other people say something similar, add a little extra protein when the loss slows down. Not sure why that works, but a good idea that I’m going to keep in mind.

dickinsp Congratulations on being “overweight” hehe sounds kind of funny to be saying that, but seriously, how great is that! I’m looking forward to when I’m just “overweight” too!

Sunflower40 Please don’t be discouraged. Easy to say, I know. But true. My second last WI, I only lost 0.2, and yes, I was feeling pretty crappy about it, but the next WI was almost 4. The losses are not linear for sure, and there are all sorts of reasons why one week sucks, another shines. Just look at your total lost and you’ll feel better.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We're off to Stratford on Wednesday to see a play, maybe another picnic lunch (it's such a pretty little town for anyone who hasn't heard of it). And dinner out, so I'll have to be on good behaviour! Thanks to everyone here, though, I know how to do that!
  • Destony and Frawnie I've been on 3fc since Feb, posting occasionally but not often. I can't believe how much you guys have lost , congrats.

sunflower I think all of us who have been on IP for a while can relate to your slower losses right now... It's happened to all of us. As I was getting close to goal I was pretty discouraged but I noticed my body took brief "rests" all the way through. I'm below goal right now but added Chromium and my losses have picked up. Hang in there, it will all work.

Thank you 3bigdogs I was reading another thread, I "maintainers" I think, and I feel as though I am going to react very similar to the way you are at this point. I am already somewhat afraid of the phasing off and maintaining part. This part is easy, as we've read and experienced. It's all l aid out and all we have to do is follow direction. When I have to think for myself about it, will I always be mindful? What about those times when my willpower is in the toilet?? All those things...I think you have done an amazing job, and you are an inspiration to us all with your numbers!

What's the Chromium all about? The only additions to my supplements are a Vitamin D (which in honesty, right now-I probably don't need-seeing as it's Summertime) and I also take 3 collagen tablets a day. 51, and the old skin doesn't bounce back like it used to...(I'd like to laugh about that one, but I just can't )
