KarenFla…I use Tyleno PM, it never helps but I keep trying. I forgot to tell you, I purchased a Meyer Lemon tree last month. It hasn’t grown any that I can see but it need 6 hours of sunlight and it doesn’t always get it in the house. When fall comes, the sun will be lower in the sky and it’ll get all the sun it needs. I'll probably be dead by the time it's big enough to produce lemons.

Lyn…how exciting to see a nest of Osprey! DH just got out his bird book and showed me a picture of them, very pretty markings on the hawk.
Makes it so much more fun to see wildlife plus wonderful exercise.

Marie…What’s the reason for not hanging clothes outside to dry if I have allgeries? I’m not sure if I have allergies, I never have problems other than the right nostril, same side where my headaches always are. Many times I wake up around 2am for potty break and I’ve noticed it’s plugged or my sinus feels funny on that side . I'm hoping the humidifier and air purifier will help.
Geeeeezz I’m not very attentive, I just now noticed your original weight and where you are now. That’s 58 pounds, fantastic! How did you do that, same diet plan or did you try several? And a bonus for you.....you're nice and tall. I'm thinking the dogs on leashes and daily walking is going to keep your arms firm from now on. I have those waving wings under my arms and hate them. I never wear sleeveless tops out in public, only at home.

Hi Everyone,

This morning was 12 mile training in the VERY hilly park. I finished in 3.5 hours. This means I can definitely do the flat 13 mile walk on marathon day within 4 hours - the maximum.

I came home, collapsed into bed, and just got up to do a little bit of posting in the course I'm teaching.

Hi, ladies... I just came across your group today. I'll write more about me when I have some time, but I just wanted to address jess1's comments.

You are not the worst daughter in the world, but what you're going through can certainly make you think you are. I went through a very similar thing with my mom for the last 2.5 years of her life. I think back now and wonder why I was always so angry with her, but I'm not living with it all day every day any more. I remember one night that I screamed and cried in anger and frustration all the way home from a particularly difficult day with her. I thought I had gone insane, but I now realize that trying to do it all by myself was just too much at times.

After she passed, I could finally acknowledge the gift I had given her, and I no longer feel ashamed. I was there when no one else was, and even in my worst moments, that was better than having left her alone. Please cut yourself some slack, and just continue to do the best you can.

I just posted my bio on the bio thread, so now I'm stopping by to say hi to all of you. I read through all of July's and August's posts and really felt the committment you all have to each other, and the kindness, support, and friendship that you share. You are an amazing group of women! I turned 50 this year and seem to have gotten a much later start than most, as I'm still raising my kids rather than enjoying grandkids -- I have 3 boys, ages 15, 11, and 8 -- but other areas of life I can definitely relate to what some of you are experiencing. Sometimes my workload (I work at home, so with interruptions and timing of work arriving, my days can get long) doesn't provide me the opportunity to be active daily on the boards, but I will do my best to stop in and say hello frequently as I get to know everyone. Looking forward to sharing "life" with all of you on our journey to lose weight and live a healthier life!

Donna, as far as I can tell you are the perfect daughter. Yes you’re frustrated and going insane in your head. But you are there. You are taking care of her. You are being her rock. That, dear friend, is what makes you the perfect daughter. And wow – you’re the rock for your sister too. You’re protecting her from verbal abuse from Granny/Mom. I do believe I wish you were my sister or daughter. Hang in there and dump the bucket on us. You know we’ll always be your sounding board.

Bobbi, I’m thinking your post took at least an hour. I just read and read. To answer your question about sheets drying outside. Basically, in the spring and summer, there’s pollen from all the lovely plants outside. It floats everywhere, especially into your sheets. And your pillowcases – the things that you’re breathing directly into for ~8 hours. Bad. This time of year in southern MN is lovely hayfever season. All that stuff in the air, reasons people have allergies gets imbedded in your sheets. Put them into the dryer. And I have severe allergies. When they did the testing last spring, they brought staff into the room to see my back’s reaction. They couldn’t read how big each stop because my back was glowing red. I say that because I don’t think I have allergies either. Like you, I’m rarely congested (and only on the right side too – funny similarity). I have post nasal drip down my throat but nothing bad. But my allergies are what’s causing all my asthma problems. Hence the shots to hopefully lower my dependence on asthma meds. If you don’t want to get allergy testing (its pretty painless and worth it), make sure you’re taking a good antihistamine daily and see if it helps. I like Allegra the best. Costco has the best price and there’s currently a $6 coupon for it. And take it daily for a month to see if it helps. I know some people that take it when they have allergy symptoms and they’re the most miserable. Take it daily. It’s not that expensive and could get rid of your other headache expenses. But your being congested on the right side (guessing you sleep on your right side and gravity is in effect) in the middle of the night screams allergies to me. Good luck to you!!!!! You’ll figure it out without the dorky doctors.

Mary, I’m glad you like your Kindle. I was showing DH reading on the iPad and how to turn pages but just tapping on the page edge. I love it!!! I’m guessing the reviews on the Kindle would have screamed problems if the page turner didn’t hold up. Enjoy yourself with it.

KarenMO, we’re up to four feeding that she’s eaten. This morning she didn’t seem interested so I gave her a fork full of the canned Canidae (I use canned to make a gravy for the dry kibbles) to garner some interest. That moved her from across the house to the kitchen. She didn’t do her pirouettes but she did eat. Good enough for me. So again, thanks for the recommendation.

Doggies and I are going to have a fun day. My friend and her two boys (9 and 11) are coming over to play in the pool and play with the doggies. My friend is going through a nasty divorce and custody battle. Last week she came over because hopefully soon to be ex had the boys. She took pics of the dogs and pool and the boys were jealous. So they’re all coming over today. My doggies LOVE visitors. Especially doggie people that will ooo-and-ahhhh all over them. And my neighbor is coming over again this morning for mochas by the pool. See what that little neighborhood party started a month ago? I’m making a friend. Eeks. Scary. DH thinks its funny I’m turning social in my GG years.

Is it Sunday already? <looking around> Good grief! So much for "me" time....dd3 picked me up - along with the twinnies and dgd - to go shopping for what I thought was back to school clothes (uniforms, undies, sweaters, shoes, jackets, etc.) for dgd. Was a little surprised to see the twinnies along (NOT the best and most patient shoppers in the world!) and it turns out that this was not a back-to-school expedition, but rather a hunt for outfits for the twinnies for ds's wedding. (Oh, Bobbi...sorry for the confusion: the lazy mil is dd2's (dd2 just had the baby girl) not ds's future mil! I wouldn't know whether his future mil is lazy or not - the only time I've ever met her was at the wedding shower, and then it was just a (sort of) cordial greeting, minimal small talk, and then disappearing into the crowd. When we left, future mil was three sheets to the wind...oh, you can imagine my worry over living up to HER class act (NOT!). So, anyway, it's evidently been decided that since the twinnies are in the throes of the "terrible twos", it might not be wise to have them in the actual wedding party - originally it was thought that they should be ring bearers, but given the high probability that they would pitch a fuss over giving UP the rings once they had them in their possession (not to mention the potential for losing them in the grass along the way) it seemed more prudent to simply have them be guests. And, since their mama and daddy (sil & dd3) are matron of honor and best man respectively, the twinnies can hang out on a bench with dh & I, and relieve their parents of any concern about where they are and what they're up to. Dd3 had it in mind that she wanted them to look "preppie" with dress chinos, navy blazers and pale blue Chaps oxford shirts with striped ties. The shirts, they already have - I bought them those a few weeks ago, figuring they could wear them to church. Well, we headed out at 10:30 AM, and trekked around three different malls before finding the right pants and blazers (It's incredible how hard it is to find two of the same style and size anywhere...) and ended up actually getting only one tie and having to order the other one to be mailed. Crazy. Got home at 8:30 last night (we had to drop the twinnie's home to sil after lunch because they needed their naps), with the sorest feet - absolutely dead on my feet, and that's the truth! Had just about enough energy to run a bath for myself (forget the candles and other spa paraphernalia - I was too tired to take the lid off the Yankee candle that I'd been waiting all day for) and slide on into it. Stayed there for about a half hour, but was afraid I'd sink under and drown, so I got out and went to bed. I didn't bother weighing myself yesterday because it was very humid, and from the way my rings were fitting, I knew I was retaining water, and the weigh-in would've been disappointing. We'll see how things progress today. So far, it's pretty gray outside, and feels damp in the house. I've been perfectly OP, but one never knows what the scales have in store, eh?
Lynn, I hope your stomach straightens out after you've snoozed for awhile. I also hope they get to the bottom of what's going on, and figure out a way to get you some relief. When is your run?

Well, you're sure doing a lot better than me - about all I have time for these days is work and family events. If somebody isn't getting married or having a baby, they've got a birthday or a graduation or a dance recital or a sports event...can barely keep up as it is.

Howdy....Well we are now singing Good night Irene Good night. Seems like TS Irene is planning a Florida trip. Cruising Porta Rica tonight. 7 days out but watching.

Marie...channel surfing last night and watched "Dogs" on the Animal channel only because they were showing Malmutes. Even had a woman who hitched up to a pair for cross country skiing. She said it was scary at first being hooked to 175lbs of dog, but after a fall they immediately stopped and helped her because she was pack leader. Even commented on being so talky with their woowoo songs.

Karen....Your talents just keep getting better and bigger. For Christmas we are getting you a bubble machine. I took 6 yrs of piano, ballet and tap and my musical abilities are still trapped. I say I have music in my soul but it can't get out.

Zoe....I just can't imagine shopping with 2 two year old boys. That you could crawl into the tub was an achievement.

Gayle...I'll try and send Irene your way. We've been have more rain lately so I'd like to share some with Texas!

Gotta go back to MD tomorrow the infection is reoccuring in the incision. Guess I need a different antibiotic. Ugh...they leave me so blah. This is taking so long to get better. Like 2 steps foreward etc etc etc.

Gonna do something a wee bit evil. Going to friends for dinner. Taking a cheese cake. I love cheese cake but we'll leave before dessert.

You are a WONDERFUL daughter and granddaughter! I SO know what you mean. As much as I loved my DH, I also got SO tired of taking care of him. We really cannot judge ourselves on how we feel. Our feelings are our feelings and they are generated by the worry and tiredness and responsibilities that are connected with being a primary caregiver. We need to judge ourselves on what we do. You are doing EVERYTHING!

I had a hysterectomy many years ago. Unfortunately, at that time everyone was recommending that we keep our ovaries. However, the doctor says that the cysts are just cysts and not growing for the past 5 years. No need to keep getting ultrasounds. YEAAAAAA! I HATE those ultrasounds.

My niece had a VERY red and swollen face this past winter. Turned out she was allergic to some chemical with a VERY long name. This chemical was in just about every soap/shampoo/lotion/moisturizer product that she used – including the wipes she was using on her face to deal with the swelling and itching

Thank you – yes I feel a lot better. I won’t get the endoscopy results for a few weeks – doctor is leaving for vacation next week. Right now, I seem to be able to avoid the pain by avoiding fried foods. My ½ marathon is on Sept 18.
