Hi ladies,
The lovely cool weather is gone and summer is back. Sunny, 90 degree days for the week going forward. I need to get out and do some yardwork, will have to go to bed early tonight and get up early and get out there. I was going to work after dusk yesterday but DH said the mosquitos are bad and after all this yuckky flood water, I certainly don't want to be bit by anything that hatched in that!
The bathroom reno is coming along. They sealed the tile so we can't go in there until Tuesday. I think the colors flow nicely. Except for one thing. The room is broken up into 2 rooms - one contains the outside window, the toilet, and the tub and shower. The other is the "dressing" room with the vanity and sink. We selected a tan color with a hint of pink in it to warm up the room as the tile is a warm beige. I wanted something light and neutral but a contrast enough to pop off the white painted woodwork and crown moulding. In some places they replaced the sheetrock, in others it's the original stuff. The new stuff had a green board and the old stuff was painted over white. They did put 2 coats of primer on the walls. The room with the window is the exact color we wanted. A warmish tan. The vanity room however is a distinct pink

Noticeable different color. We are all mistfied. I changed the light bulb - we just have a bare bulb hanging from the wall socket - to one which simulates natural daylight. No difference. It also looks the same way at night so it's not just the daylight affecting it. The room with the new wallboard is the one that is the more natural color. And I don't understand where the pink came from as this is definitely a brown based color. Always something

DH may have to have them paint again. The cabinets and vanity are supposed to be in this week - hopefully by next week it will be done. Can't wait to get into that soaker tub. And from what I read these soaker tubs are gaining popularity with people who are getting tired of almost breaking their necks trying to crawl over the wide expanse you have with a whirlpool tub that is set into a frame. I know I've had issues with them, especially when you are wet and slippery. This tub is the width of a regular one.
Yesterday I counted up all my loose change I've been saving for a long time - had over $300

I told DH I'd use half of it for getting mulch and some flowers for outside to spruce up the place for show and the other half I want to bank for my "toy" fund

He had over a hundred dollars himself that he added to the pot. In all that change only found 1 silver dime.
I guess yesterday was my lazy day which means I have to crank it up today. DH's glasses are ready finally and I have to take my new sunglasses back as I can't seem to read anything with them as in clock face to tell time. Something is off. I also want to wash my car and get a little bit of outside things done. So we agreed to work this afternoon and clean up and go out for an early supper. DH promised me a soft serve ice cream cone!
Shad - I hope that you can get caught up with everything that needs doing. No fun rushing through things and I know you like to be prepared and be thorough.
Ellen - what a nice surprise to actually have a holiday for you and the family - have a good time. Hope your weather is better - my Mom was complaining about it being cold and rainy.
Annie - how did the date go? Bummer on the brother's lack of interest. Some of them are like them. Too bad they don't "get it". Wack on the side of the head... Was watching the opening for the Indy 500 race. I am surprised at how many of these "red blooded Americans" don't treat the national anthem with the respect it deserves. I also don't like it when those who sing the anthem "put their spin" on the song - some things should be sung exactly as the original. And is there any song more mournful than Taps?
Ceejay - did you get the chores done? Ouch on paying those darn sales taxes
Laura - hope you are getting outside and enjoying your weekend.
Michelle - hope you got all the work stuff done too and can have the weekend to enjoy with DH and DMIL.
Mel - are you feeling any better?
I'd better get something in my belly and get outside. Enjoy your Sunday.
