  • Hi all - just checking again. I am still out of sorts. I suspect this is not result of a misspent weekend - but some sort of intestinal bug. Ugh! I'll be back posting once the mung clears a bit. Might need a bit of system detox... maybe I'll have to listen to McKeith's advice - yes it is that McKeith, Shad. I would love to see her show. Not sure it's available here.

I'll be back. Keep well all!
  • Evening ladies,

Cinderella here has turned back into a pumpkin. Right after we got home from dropping off the last of our guests at the airport, it was back to laundry and vacumming and washing loads of clothes and playing my favorite game - let's rummage through the cabinets to figure out who put all my stuff where. Last time it took me 3 months to find my favorite knife. I almost wish they wouldn't help with the dishes

Catching up with you all it sounds like we are a bunch in need of a bit of TLC here

DH's back has been hurting. Before he went to bed I rubbed some wintergreen warming linament on his back. I (thought I) washed my hands thoroughly enough. Was sitting here with my hand resting on my chin / lips catching up on posts when all of a sudden my lips started burning I can't even smell the linament on my hands yet somehow I transfered it to my face. Not a pleasant feeling. Perhaps I will wake up with Angelina Jolie's lips

Madcat - hope you feel better soon. I can relate tho to the needing to get back to clean eating again. Wish I had the fortitude to do a short fast / detox. You've been doing very well at the gym tho - keep up the good work. And I like your "ticker" - no big long signature, no fancy graphics - just the nekkid truth.

And her gym bunny buddy around the world - Shad is doing equally well. Sounds like those muscles were looking for a good workout. What will you be doing with your short break? Sorry to hear that you had to postpone your trip - DH is disappointed to. However, I truly believe you would not enjoy our dreary pre-winter blahs here. That Alaska trip sounds wonderful. We've always wanted to go but it can get a bit pricy as you have no doubt discovered. The only time they had real deals was during the Gulf War when they rerouted many ships up this way. Still I hear the real cost is in the inside passage tours. Would love to see Denali National Park.

Mel, I'm sorry you had such a bummer of a doctor's visit. It's really disgusting what health care (and they should rename that as it's no CARE) has come to. I blame the insurance companies - smaller payouts, more patients, no one listens to you. You might as well be treating yourself. Vicks Vapo Rub, hot tea with a splash of your favorite brown liquor or I highly recommend hot apple cider, a bit of Southern Comfort booze and a cinnamon stick to stir it up. And some Watkins Wintergreen linament rub for the aches and pains. I have taken Actifed for years. Now because the crack heads decided to make crystal meth out of it, I can no longer get it. I have 2 boxes left which I am hording for the very worst of my allergy days. As your doc said, it is true that this has been a horrible allergy year - not sure why. Hope you get some relief.

Ceejay - we got some thunder yesterday but the real rains came today - quite the typical southern downpour we get here. At least I didn't have to water today. I think it's a good idea to keep a journal and focus on one thing at a time. I too hate counting all the carbs and sugars and this and that. Makes me want to pare down to a list of just 50 foods or so to make things easier and just rotate the basics

Hello Holly and Meadow. Time to hear from the rest of the lot. We'll excuse Suzi as she's probably thinking about packing soon. It's off to bed for me. See you in the morning...
  • Allergies And North America
ACCORDING TO THE DR'S THEORY THIS WINTER WAS NEVER COLD ENOUGH OR LONG ENOUGH TO DISINTERGRATE ALL THE WEEDS AND FALLEN LEAVES UNDER THE SNOW/ICE ETC. SO THERE IS A LOT OF THAT BLOWING AROUND AND MOLD ETC. THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST AS THEY SAID IN OVER A DECADE. THE WAITING ROOMS WERE AS FULL AS THE NURSE TOLD ME. EVERYONE WAS COMPLAINING. SOOOOOOO...........

CINDERELLA (OR HAPPY AS WE HAVE COME TO KNOW AND LOVE HER)~ SO SORRY THE PUMPKIN HAS RETURNED!! I DID SO LOVE THE HORSE AND CARRIAGE PART OF YOUR VACATION! HOPE THE WEEKEND WILL GIVE YOU TIME TO RECOVER FROM SAID VACATION TIME!!!! I SUGGEST LOTS OF POOL TIME WITH FEET UP AND FROSTED GLASS IN HAND LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS. I THINK I NEED AN ENTIRE QUART OF SOUTHERN COMFORT TO FEEL BETTER!!!

SHAD~ YOUR POOR MUSCLES. ARE YOU TRYING TO GET THE WEIGHT OFF IN JUST ONE GO AT THE GYM?! I LOVE THE SMELL OF FLOOR SANDING OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH WOOD. HOPE THE RENO COMES OUT WELL FOR HIM. ARE YOU AND SUNDAY STILL BONDING????? I DON'T THINK SORTING AND TOSSING IS EVER ACTUALLY OVER!!!

MADCAT~ I FEEL THE SAME AS YOU BUT WITHOUT THE IBS. I COULD USE A GOOD DETOXING MYSELF!! HUGS FOR YOU AND HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON

CEEJAY AND HOLLY~ YOU GUYS ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I BETTER HOP ON THE BAND WAGON WITH YOU! KEEP GOING IN THAT FORWARD DIRECTION. CJ I WILL SEND YOU ALL THE RAIN YOU WANT!!

MARY L~ IF YOU ARE LURKING IN THE SHADOWS, A BIG HELLO FROM ME AS WELL

    TO ALL THE REST!!!

I THINK THE BEST THAT CAN BE SAID FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE IS THAT IT'S OVER WITH!!! I HAVE NOT BEEN MAKING GOOD FOOD CHOICES AND FEEL LIKE CRAP. CAFFEINE AND SUGAR ARE NOT SINUS FRIENDLY AND IT SERVES ME RIGHT TO FEEL THIS POORLY. I SHOULD BE TAKING BETTER CARE OF MYSELF. SUMMER WAS NOT MADE AS A FREE-FOR-ALL FOR MELLIE!!
TOMORROW IS FOOD SHOPPING AND I WILL GO AND RESTOCK THE FRIDGE. I JUST SPENT TIME CLEARING AND TOSSING IT ALL. OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW AS THEY SAY. WISH I WOULD REMEMBER THAT!!! THE RAIN HAS STOPPED HERE. STILL CLOUDY BUT TOMORROW IS SUPPOSED TO BE SUNNY. SUN IS GOOD!
    HAVE A GREAT DAY/NIGHT......
  • HAPPY~ HOPE THE DH'S BACK AND YOUR LIPS ARE BETTER!! DID I EVER TELL YOU ABOUT ME AND THE EXDH? HE RUBBED INFRARUB ON HIS SORE MUSCLES AND THEN WE WENT TO BED TOGETHER.......I ENDED UP SITTING IN A SINK FILLED WITH COOL WATER......NOT ONCE BUT TWICE IN THE SAME NIGHT!!!! HE HAD FORGOTTEN TO WASH HIS HANDS IN ALL THE EXCITEMENT!
  • Oh no Mellie. Just exactly what WAS he touching? Twice?
  • This is rest day for me, but later this afternoon I'll probably end up mowing the lawn. My neighbors son, who has been mowing, has his hurt foot. To be honest I think it was just to hot for them to mow. And my lawn mower has not been doing right all summer. A coworker is supposed to come by this afternoon to check to see if he can repair it. If not I'm just going to break down and buy one of those new battery powered mowers. I'm going to call to remind him around three.

Today is rest day so not much is going on from my standpoint. I have started the laundry and picked up the livng room, put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and changed the sheets on my bed. Most of the major cleaning will be done tomorrow.

Happy-- Thankfully we didn't get the thunder and lightning just the much needed rain. I pulled a stunt almost like you when I used an over the counter arthritis compound which was composd mainly of hot peppers. It burned everywhere I put my washed hands.

Mel--Hope the allegra works for you. My aunt uses rhinocort and the albuterol. Her allergies are alot worse than mine.

Shad--Those gym work outs can really work those muscles. I've found some tht I didn't realize I used.

    To all the others
  • Hi happy your egg light is on
  • Hiya all,

Had a Foxtel techo around here this morning to change the satellite tv over to digital stuff. It seems they are phasing out the analogue at the end of the year so it had to be done. And it was free. Anyway they told me it would be between 7am and midday so I decided not to go to the gym first and then told myself that on past performance it is more likely to be midday than closer to 7am. I'm glad I didn't go because around 20 to 8 the guy pulled up the driveway. Turned out to be a Kiwi from Auckland and we had a good old chat. I asked about changing the aerial point from one place on the wall to another and he said that it would probably only be around fifteen minutes work and he would do it himself right now for a small charge - how small?? - $20.00. Do it. To get Foxtel out to do it would have cost me around the $100 mark and I would probably have had to have time off work. To get the electrician to do it - well if he would - probably twice that much. I am a happy bunny. If anyone can the Kiwi can!!!!!
He got up in the roof and pushed and I got down on the floor and pulled when asked. Then he put it side by side with the external aerial for the free to air tv. Couldn't have asked for a nicer or neater job done. And all for $20.

Ceejay - I found muscles that hurt in places I didn't know I had muscles!!!

Happy - now look what you have started with the wintergreen. Sorry I don't think you will end up with Angelina Jolie lips. Unless of course they have started putting botox into wintergreen. Does DH's back look swollen and luscious???
On my break I am spring cleaning the house, tossing the junk and burning paperwork no longer necessary to keep. I'm also doing a bit of painting, sanding and tiling. I'm not rushing it. What gets done is done. What doesn't, doesn't. I'm enjoying this break. Maybe I won't want to go back to work.
I'll definitely be over next year - possibly Spring. It will be outside the peak summertime tourist season anyway. I'll be starting to plan very soon.

Mel - that cat will be the death of me. Everytime I turn around there she is looking pathetically at me. We have two or three cuddle times a day. But she is not getting much better. I have to stand up to do most things.
Ouch on the heat stuff ............. Owie

Madcat - feel much better soon.

Better get back to the filing. It's nearly finished in this room. It's the 7 year stuff I will get into a tizz about. That's the next room to be spring cleaned.

    Hello everyone
I can't believe it. I have just spent a couple on minutes writing a huge blurb and it disappeared! I answered the phone and it vanished!!! Never mind here it goes again. )

You all sound wonderful...apart from sore toes and rising BPs and those nasty allergies!!! Hmmm...not long enough winters causing nasties to still be around..how inconsiderate!!

I missed all the celebrations but thought of you all during them.I hope they were happy
I am not sure where my week went but it vanished. The kids are on holiday for the winter vacation. I have been busy with them organisng their days. I guess at school they get so used to having everything planned for them they forget to use their brains. They have been very create in their ideas to fill their days as the $$$ have been slim. We are trying to save pennies for our trip as I know my wallet will have nothing but bats at the end of it all.

I am getting very excited now It's only 7 sleeps. The weeks have flown by. I only hope that time stops for a little while we are there. I am not looking forward to that nasty long plane trip 21 hours! I get a little clostrophobic in planes! Hopefully i will sleep.
It's been lovely hearing about your summers and all your vacations coming and going. I am looking forward to getting a touch of summer in my winter.
My hair is getting one too tomorrow. I am having highlights and a cut n blow wave done. It's the first time I have been to this hairstylist as I have rotten luck with them. After having the same one for 10 years in NZ ( who was fantastic) I have been through 5 as they keep leaving. The one I am going to tomorrow is only just a few mins walk away and so I hope all goes well.

ugg...I am sitting here at worl. My co worker next to me is eating chips and a huge greasy hamburger and it stinks!!! I am trying not to gag. It's amazing when you are not into eating that stuff how awful it smells! It's stinking out the whole office and I have already gone for my walk! I might just have to go down the other end soon and make myself a cuppa.
It's not good really...she will eat this and then complain that she has and then i will hear this until hometime and there are 2 1/2 hours left! It's one of those quiet afternoons.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this computer is trying to gobble up my writing again and so i better post this quickly.

Hope all is well with everyone. I will sit here tomorrow with a new do !

    Suzi
  • suzi~ i could almost smell that hamburger and chips!!! now i am drooling! roflmao

shad~ good for you and the fellow kiwi!! congrats on such a good price. i had heard the analog was phasing out all over. sigh

ceejay~ hope the mower can be fixed. i haven't heard of a battery typer. must be great without a cord or gas. good luck.

happy~ let's just say the parts he touched were in the nether regions

making a quick post and then i am off to the food store. after that, i will check in with the whining office.
it seems the crew are giving her a wee bit of a hard time. straighten what i can out and give my friend a break.
seniors are going to the hospital one after the other and coming home. dehydration from lack of a/c. they do not realize they need the a/c cause they only drink tea or coffee and nooooo water!!! but they are a thick headed lot!
the weather is gorgeous and i am going to go for a ride but not before i take all my new squirting meds!
    have a wonderful day
  • Good morning ladies,

**Yawn, stretch *** My favorite day of the week - Friday - got here very quickly this week. I vote in favor of 3 day work weeks Wednesday it rained most of the day. That not only washed the air but cooled it down considerably. So yesterday was an ahhhhhhh, delightful day. It was perfect for doing anything outside. Too bad I was stuck behind a computer for 10 hours. Then we had a homeowners meeting which ran for 2 hours. I got home rather late, caught DH up with the latest goings on and then went to bed. I had wanted to sit on the swing outside for a while but completely forgot about it.

This morning the nose is sniffling. I have the house closed up and the air conditioning on, but I guess those little pollen buggers drift right into the house. It's wierd how you can be fine for days on end and then you wake up one morning miserable. Good news is that a cup of tea and an antihistamine will fix it all. Everything should be that easy I was in a rush yesterday to eat something before I had to run to my meeting so I dug one of my diet meals out of the freezer. I had a few left over from the Diet to Your Door Plan. This was a chicken breast stuffed with something and a nice tart cranberry sauce to go over it. Veggies were brocolli and a most delicious packet of roasted corn kernels with veggies. The meal was very good, it's a shame the darn program is so expensive. I had a beef chipolte chili which I offered to DH. When I got home he said he didn't think it was all that great - I thought it was surprising good. Better not offer him the black bean soup I also pulled my copy of the 14 Superfoods - time to get back eating clean again. Ceejay, I apologize - I was going to send you something and in the rush of getting ready for my guests, I set it to the side and never mailed it. It's one my desk here somewhere, no doubt I will come across it this weekend when I dust and I will sent it out next week.

I didn't win the 57 million dollar lottery (forgot to buy a ticket) so I guess that means I have to get my act in gear here and get organized. I had a meeting yesterday and spent most of the day following up on some questions people had. I'm a little more behind than I was when I started back at work on Wednesday. Hard to focus on something that you don't want to do

Suzi, I don't envy you that long plane trip. I would have to get 2 Valiums - one for each way to ward off the claustrophobia - kind of like the "kitty downers" we used to give the cat on long car trips. An IPOD loaded with lots and lots of your favorite music will help pass the time. I hope your hair comes out nicely - it is hard to find a good stylist. I know what you mean about the smells from other people's food. Back when I was riding the train, more and more people would bring food on the train with them, particularly as they added a food court to the station with lots of fast food take away options. It was really bad when someone would get a Greek Gyro - the smell of the raw onions was overpowering. It's amazing how quickly the air would get stale. We would glare at the offender but they were oblivious and would happily munch away.

How nice Shad to get the Satellite TV taken care of so quickly and efficiently. THAT doesn't happen too often. So when you say you will visit in the spring - is that your spring or ours?

Ceejay - hope you got the mower going. I always hated the pull gadget on the mower. Being short, I never quite had enough arm swing to get the motor started.

Mel, hope you have a sunny, sniffle free day today. Did you get out and get your shopping done? What's on the meal plan for this week?

Hope you're feeling better too Madcat. Who's McKeith?

Work is summoning me so off I go. Hellos to the rest of the chicks.
  • Hey Mel guess we crossed paths when I wasn't looking Don't get stuck in the office all day long.

Hi Shad - I see your light on too.
  • morning all

Mel--I did get most of the lawn mowed. The mower just couldn't take it. B. came and changed the blade for me because I don't know which is right side up or if it's down. He didn't get to change the prime button because Wal-Mart didn't have them. I'm going to look Saturday in Paragould.

Suzi--Good luck at the hair stylist. Had my hair cut extremely short last week. I haven't been brave enough to wear it spiked but I could. I didn't do the high lights this time. Thanks for waving in my journal. I know you are getting excited about the trip.

Happy-You are a busy lady and you stilll made a healthy food choice. Unlike myself who after working in the yard gave in and let myself have something from Sonic. Guess I'll live and learn-It was 920 calories and loaded in sodium.I'm paying for the sodium today.

    Madcat--Hope you are feeling better.

Shad--Did you get to the gym?

Not much going on today--It's Friday and payday. The check arrived early this morning and I'm about to get dressed to go make a deposit and pick up a few cleaning supplies.
  • Packing up some stuff for camping. In 8 hours I will be sitting in front of a fire with a Mike's Hard Lemonade in my hand!!!!!!! Definitely need to R&R.
    Have a wonderful weekend.
