I have been just diagnosed with Type II diabetes and just started with Metformin twice daily,my FBS is 143.
I have 60lbs to loose and am wondering if anyone is on Weight Watchers and how are you doing with the diabetes and loosing weight? I joined Weight Watchers last Tuesday.
I go to my diabetes class on June 9th, which is the first date they had open. Overall I feel good, but have had terrible sleeping problems and night sweats, probably because I am 56 years young. The doctor thinks my diabetes is a combination of age onset and being overweight. Who knows? All I know is I want to be very diligent to work with this the best way I can. It has been a great shock and I have had no symptoms at all. I also have not gotton my glucose monitor yet as my doctor said to wait until I take the class to get all the info and insurance requirements too.
Please advise with any help for a real newbie at this.
Thanks,
Melanie in Colorado

). Also including exercise in my lifestyle has helped me get even better numbers, I've been able to loose 10 pounds. I think the only difference is that I'm not taking any medication so I'm not sure if that would affect your weight loss, but don't worry you have come to the right place...The ladies in here are really knowledgeable and kind, I'm sure they would help you.
We are quite a diverse bunch, that is true, everyone has something that works for them eventually, and we are all always learning. I think that it is a great place to share, so I really like to hear what the new ones find out in class.

Like you, I had no symptoms so getting the diagnosis was a great shock. I am keeping my levels well now by watching my diet and focusing on better foods. Your class will tell you more but please stick around here to ask questions.
