  • I am so ready for winter to be over.
  • I hear ya, Ennay.

It is mainly because I am a wimp. We got half an inch of snow Monday night and they cancelled school Tuesday! the roads were icy and pretty much we all suck driving on ice, so they closed school.

I don't like running in the cold (and I define cold as 40 degrees or less) or the dark so I have been doing a lot of elliptical sessions lately. I long for summer, for early sunrise, for running in tank tops and shorts. Sniff....soon!!!

    Nice speedwork, Kara and Helen.
  • I'm tired now. I'm busy at the weekend so decided to do my long run this evening. Starting a 15+ mile run when it's already dark is not an appealing prospect, believe me, particularly when I think it's the hilliest long run I've ever done - or at least the first time I've actually dared tackle a nasty hill very near the end - usually I try to think of any route that avoids it. Still, that's 15.4 miles I don't need to do at the weekend, and I'm definitely NOT running tomorrow!
  • Good for you, Helen! You got it done...under the belt...on to bigger and better things (like rest!).

Laura, I am a big sap about music, too. I think it's the girl in me. Have you seen "Juno" yet? I bawled at the end.

Ennay, I'm hoping New Jersey has some decent weather through February and March because my only other option is running on my parents' treadmill - not bad for the three and four mile stretches, but a boring prospect for the long runs!

Midwife, about your definition of cold! I feel the same way.

I did three easy miles today. Tried not to stress when I got passed by some guy. It was a good mental exercise.

    Kara
  • You gals are wimps I tell ya ... Just kidding of course.

4.44k 35 mins -10C/14F bright ans my favourite kind of day
  • I stopped at the Reebok and Nike outlets on my way driving down to my conference, and for $100 I got 3 wicking tank tops, 2 wicking shirts, 3 wicking jackets, and 1 pair of wicking pants. I'm thrilled!!! This is my reward to myself for completing my half-marathon

Kara, I did see Juno, and it was decent, but I didn't find it amazing like critics are saying. It did make me cry at the end though
  • WOW! Laura, I'm taking you shopping with me the next time I go out! We'll be in south Jersey in five days. You ever down that far???

    Kara
  • Laura, sounds like a bargain!

5.25 hard miles for me today - treadmill, but felt hard all the same. Whew.
  • Closing this thread and starting a February one... see you there
