Well the ultrasound went well! She said my carotids are "beautiful!" She said she would have expected more buildup considering my age but there is hardly any. I don't eat much meat (although through the years I have eaten a lot of fatty foods like ice cream!), and I never smoked (tried it once or twice in my teens only), plus have reasonably good genes so that has all helped I guess.
So it isn't that my arteries are plugged up.

Rosey- I'm thinking inner ear problems too. Dr looked at my ears and mentioned it could be Labyrinthitis. If so it should be temporary. I don't have any ringing in my ears but when I have an episode I do have a muffled heartbeat sound in my ears which goes away once I lie down.

Jess - Poor kitty...UTIs are no fun! Sorry about the work week...I hope you can retire soon if that's what you want. I love retirement.

Karen3 - Glad you are doing so well! Congrats! Yes, my doctor really jumped on my dizzy problem. Since my BP is also still a little high I was concerned about a stroke so happy to hear at least that my carotids are clear. I am still concerned about the headaches too although they have been better recently. Hopefully we will find the answer soon. I start PT on Monday for my shoulder/arm and back tomorrow. Dreading it a little because my arm still hurts quite a lot...hope they will not be too mean to me.

I have a nail appt soon so I need to get ready to go. Talk more later.

ETA: Just got word from doctor that my labs were ok. Glucose was high but my A1C was only 6.9...up .1 from last time but I really expected much worse. So nothing to explain dizziness.

Donna/Jess - The doctor did mention possibly being related to my back issues and maybe a pinched nerve. Well if it is possibly the PT will help. But he really seems to mostly think it is bursitis. I looked up bursitis symptoms and it tends to fit that best. I don't have ringing in the ears. It is just a buffled beating that I hear in my ears only when I have an acute episode. Right now I'm just very tired (just got up from resting about FOUR hours...sleeping off and on but mostly just resting). I got my nails done and we went to Freddies to pickup a few groceries...that's all...but it wore me out. Sometimes I wonder if it's really all about the carbs...I eat too many...my bs is high, however the symptoms I'm experiencing are not those you think of as having to do with hyperglycemia except for the fatigue.

It's been a good day. Cool but sun shining at times. Went to church, then came home to steak, spinach and sweet potato. Dh doesn't care for sweet potatoes but he has allowed me to serve one now and then and he just eats a little as I told him they are good for us. I am not a big fan either but like them better than I used to.

I just finished the book, Exit to Freedom, which is about a wrongful conviction overturned by DNA evidence. Very interesting and inspirational.

I had been working on a project. Maddie drew pictures of an Easter outfit she wanted to make ~ two versions ~ one for cooler weather and one for warmer weather. She wanted me to start on it right away ~ I told her I didn't have any cloth and we would have to go to the fabric store ~ and it would have to wait until my day off. Put the picture up and kind of forgot about it. But Maddie didn't ~ and so on my day off, she reminded me that I had said we could get some cloth. I didn't have many days off to work on it and didn't think I could make an outfit from scratch and get it done before Easter, so I bought a little outfit at Walmart and got some felt and cut out pieces to make it look like her design. I finished that today. She seemed to like it, but was worried that it would be too hot (the outfit has long legs/short sleeves).

I tried to put pictures, but it said they needed to be resized and I don't have the time or patience to fool with that tonight. Oh well ~ maybe another day.

Good Morning...DH just told me we're expecting some 40 degree weather this week, wonderful as we have lots of snow like many of you gals. Donna, you really got dumped on but yours will melt much faster than ours.

Nothing going on here today, Thursday we'll spend 2-3 hours with the inspector at our new dump. He's tell us what condition the house is in, if we need new wiring, roof, siding, etc. Our realtor told me the heating in the new house is ideal for people with allergies. It doesn't have vents coming from the furnace which can clog up with dust and dust mites. It has hot water baseboard heat.

I have a personal question I'd like everyone to answer if they want to. How much was your last months electricity bill? I never thought too much about ours until the lady who wants our house asked why ours was so high. I realize those of you that live in different areas of the country will differ with your lifestyle and climate. Our realtor said our lifestyle makes our bill quite high. Our 2 TV's are on all day and half the night. I have an air purifier that never, ever shuts off, dehumidifier that runs off and on, we put in a second yard light on our property, etc. The realtors electricity runs about $35.00 per month but he's not married and never home. Ours runs $120-130.00 per month. Last week I decided to do an experiment and unplug my air purifier that runs 24/7. I've had a headache every morning since I've unplugged it but I'm going to put up with it to see if that makes a difference in our bill.

Rosey...I love having eggs and hashbrowns for lunch or supper. We can buy a dozen eggs for .99 cents around here.

It's been a busy time for us. Ds ordered his mobile home. It should be in a few days after Easter. We are trying to get his water meter down and the engineer out here for his electricity. So much to get done. It's going to be a busy week for me. Getting ready for family and friends coming over for a fish fry and crawfish boil on Friday. Then again on Easter Sunday a barbecue for about 35 people. I love Easter. Hoping for good weather. Right now they are saying 30% chance of scattered showers. Maybe we'll get lucky.
Not doing well on my eating. The scale is inching up and I feel it in my jeans. I can't keep going on like this because I don't have any cloths bigger. We gave all them to goodwill. I just can't get my head in the right place.
Yesterday was our 29th wedding anniversary. We shopped at walmart for our good Friday and Easter groceries. Dh wanted to go have lunch. If I'm going o mess up on my diet it's going to be something I want real bad and that was a good juicy cheeseburger with fried onion rings. Boy was it good too. I ate the whole thing. Pig! :/. That's the only thing that I really miss since I've started this diet journey. I'm sooooo hoping I can get my diet back on track after Easter. I will start my exercise back to. That should jump start my weight loss too.
When we did ds's dirt pad for his house it was an old drilling rig location. There was limestone that they missed picking up. We need to walk the whole yard which is about 3 acres and pick up limestone so we can mow the grass without throwing rocks. We've been telling ds to go start picking them up but he's been working so much he hasn't had time so yesterday afternoon I got wheelbarrow and went out there and started doing that for him. Figured it was good exercise. Apparently it was cuz my rear end is sore today. Lol.

Just a quick hiddy ho to answer Bobbies question. My electric bill was 167$ this month. our gas bill is 248$ a month but thats heat,water,stove,dryer,and garage etc. its level pay. rosey

Our last electric bill was $95.00 (winter in Ohio). We have a fairly large house (2700 Sq. Ft and usually keep the heat at 68 degrees. Furnace is gas forced air with a gas water heater. W/D, stove are electric.

Don't think I'm going to the gym this morning. I have my PT appt this afternoon and not sure how long that will be so will try and get things done around here this morning.

Rosey - Your bills are very high to me but then you do live in Alaska! Our electric is only $75, gas is $79 (we keep both on the budget plans so it's the same every month. Perhaps that's what you call level pay?). The house is heated by a gas furnace and we have a gas water heater but my kitchen range is electric. Often people think it is very cold in the NW but actually our climate is pretty mild I think...we have cold wet days but nothing like you have in Alaska.

Cajun - Sounds like you have nice plans for Easter despite being very busy. We plan to attend our dd's church in Portland on Easter because our gs (6) is singing in a kids choir. It's a first for him. I think I will offer to bring some food for our meal after church. Before they moved nearby, dh and I usually just had a simple meal here or ate out. I certainly understand about the eating problems. More and more I'm convinced it has to be a diet we can live with the rest of our lives which means if one likes hamburgers, they should be on the menu now and then.

Jess - Your bills sound very reasonable despite your cold climate! Our house is 1850 sq ft. so maybe that's the difference. We have an automatic thermostat which I rarely touch...that's dh's job. Funny how things get designated in a marriage...TV and anything to do with cars, heating/ac or household repairs and yardwork are his area! Mine is housework, cooking (for the most part), laundry, finances and most communications. Of course we do provide some imput to what the other does now and then. He keeps the thermostat set at 70 when we are home and up and 65 at night when we are in bed, except for between Nov-Mar when it is allowed to creep up to 72 or even 74 in the evenings as our family room can be drafty. If not for my "imput" he would probably keep it much higher. I tell him put on more clothes or a blanket! I'm such a meany. I'll check out the Missing Money site though can't imagine I have any waiting for me. I'm not big into sueing people but it is true that sometimes it helps companies change.

Bobbi - See above on our electric/gas costs. We have security lights but they only come on when someone approaches the house, our TV is only on when it is watched (late afternoon to bedtime), and we are pretty careful about turning off lights. Cooking on electric range is usually pretty brief...I don't often use the oven and when I do it's only for short time like with broiling. Yes I've had sweet potato fries and I like them ok, dh not so much. We don't eat fries much anyway. Dh mostly wants stir-fry (meat and veggies) with a sauce to put over rice. I like a lot of variety and am sick of the sauces so we do eat other things though, I just make sure I fix his kind of food every few days at least and he cooks his own a couple times a week.
BTW, Dh installed a new security device...it is on the wall under our doorbell and it rings whenever anyone approaches our house. He only turns it on at night or when the garage door is open during the day. You may remember we've had a few instances of someone ringing our doorbell at night and then hiding. This way we can be prepared for them.

Glynne - Great idea for your gd's dress! You are a good grandma. I'm afraid I'm not a good gma, I never sew and rarely bake. My idea of cookies these days is those frozen kind already shaped. I let the kids break them apart and put them on the cookie sheet and I pop them in the oven. In the warmer weather, I buy them popsicles and take them out for ice cream. We play games together and I read to them. They enjoy that. One son said I should write his children letters so they could keep them...I told him the best I could do is email. I'd be their electronic grandma.

Bobbi....our electric in the winter averages $110.00 and summers $250. That's running the pool 8 hrs every day,cooking refrig and freezer, hot water and heat pump when cold and a/c when hot.... 2 tvs and 2 pcs. Remember we have 9 months of summer.
