Alrighty. I shall give this another shot. I am first typing it into Word and then copying & pasting it into 3FC. Losing all that typing was simply too traumatic to repeat.
So, last night I made my super-dooper incredibly healthy and yummy (wheat) rotinni & “special sauce”. My daughter & her DH & lovely little six-year-old granddaughter were coming for supper. They LOVE pasta. I made a nice big salad, and had bought a freshly baked loaf of multi-grain cibatta bread. My “special sauce” is made with 93% lean ground beef – browned and well-drained – organic tomato sauce, coarsely chopped onions & green peppers, and a (drained) can of diced tomatoes. Once everything is mixed all together, the sauce has simmered for an hour or so, and I’ve added the rotinni – just five or ten minutes before we’re going to eat – I add a small, well-drained can of sliced black olives. It’s low calorie, very high fiber, etc., etc. Now, mind you, I had made this very dish over a week ago just for DH & I – and when my DD was at our house on Sunday – I had made a roast & baked sweet potatoes & veggies, etc. – she took a plastic container of leftover rotinni out of the fridge and ooohed and aaaahed over it. So, I thought that would be a perfect mid-week supper for everyone, right?
Well, not exactly. DH & I loved it. Nobody else did. DD says, Is this wheat pasta??? (Like wheat pasta is something terrible). YES! It’s wheat pasta! And the leftovers you had on Sunday were WHEAT pasta! Your mother has switched to healthy eating, remember????? “OH, I know,” she says, “but we haven’t.” Now, mind you, she wasn’t nasty about it, and she and her DH both thanked me profusely for cooking, etc., etc., but clearly they didn’t much enjoy their supper. Frankly, I felt a little sabotaged. So, am I being overly-sensitive, or do you think my DD feels a little threatened that her old mum is out riding bikes, eating healthy foods, and losing weight? Maybe she LIKED me with a comfy, grandmotherly lap???
Okay. Paula? How was Red Hat night? I haven’t seen you post this morning yet, so it looks like you & your ladies were doing some SERIOUS partying, eh?
Mickey/Wanda – I’m going to post my chili recipe one day soon; then you can see what you think.
Lynn …if you ever get up to Massachusetts, you might want to check out the DeCordova. I make sure to get there at least once every year, myself. http://www.decordova.org/
Phyllis, congrats on the new hairdo. My DD2 gave me a gift certificate to my fave hair salon/spa for my b’day. She MAY have been hinting that it’s time mine got shaped up. She might be right if that’s the case.
Jay? How’s bootcamp going? Of COURSE I’ll help you with your blog…
Moxie, one hour of exercise a day seems pretty darned good to me. I’ve been bike riding every OTHER day for 30 minutes, and in between do my trimrider, but that’s only a few minutes. I’m seeing some difference, though, so you folks who are exercising way more than me must be really dropping those inches!
Karen, I’m glad those customers of your DH’s are showing some loyalty. If they’re all threatening to pull their business, he may be getting a call-back from his old job. I say, if that happens, tell ‘em he needs a few months to think about it. Let THEM be the ones to worry about THEIR business. Of course, that’s just me. I’m kind of evil like that.
Bobbi, I went over to the “Big Y” market, practically drooling for a Flat Out. And, they didn’t HAVE them!!!! I guess that means a 15-mile drive out to the super WalMart, and if THEY don’t have them, I don’t know what I’ll do! (Cry???) That article about plateaus, incidentally, was so right-on! Thanks for posting it!!!
Cheryl, I just LOVE cargo pants, too! I had a dynamite gray pair when I was thinner that I used to wear with a gray tank top and my Teva sandals and I was jes’ so *kewl*. I hope I’ve still got them packed away somewhere – and I hope I can get down to fitting in them again!
Theresa, another Yay for being able to get off the meds! That’s a real accomplishment!
Hey Wulf & Luflic…loving your posts. Keep ‘em coming, okay?
Good luck, Nancy…just make up your mind, and the rest will follow. Can’t say it ever gets particularly easy, but it’s worth it in the end.
Send some pictures, Lyn…I see you enjoy photography, and we enjoy pictures! A perfect match, eh?
Hiya flutterby…keep on fluttering by, okay? I have two khats, too. Gotta love ‘em.
TTFN,
(Now we’ll see if I can successfully copy & paste this into 3FC)
(And if I missed anybody, it sure wasn't intentional!!!!)
I want to be a Golden Girl too! My name is Vicky, I'm 51 and I live in Monterey County, CA with my dh53 and dd18. Our other 3 kids have grown and flown, the oldest ds lives in AZ and has blessed us with 2 beautiful granddaughters. I am a homemaker at present and enjoy vegetable gardening and simple living. I have stopped and started many diets over the last 20 years but my weight was never *this* out of control. I seem to "diet hop" instead of staying with one diet. I am doing my best to stick to counting calories and just eating whole, healthy foods. Last week the doctor told me my frozen, aching back was due to the extra pounds and I've got to lose weight if I want to be pain free as I get older. I have found that it really helps me stay on track if I fill out a menu plan for the next day's meals. So glad to find a board where I seem to fit, looking forward to sharing and swapping tips and tricks, you all seem like great gals.
I finallyl got some yard work done....I mowed most of the yard....strange with the ground so muddy....I got the lawn mower stuck twice, had to quit and go pout for a while....but eventually got everything mowed that could be. (Had to dodge the mud puddles and just can't believe how wet the ground is) Much more yard work to do.....
Lynard--Welcome to the forum
luffic---congratulations on the 4 weeks sober.
flutterby--I was so glad that I had minimun problems with hot flashes and what I did have was about 1 month of flashes during the month of January. So happy to run outside with no coat on in the minus zero degree weather and get instant relief!!
littlered--congratulations on the Dr. reports....I need to get mine rechecked in July.....I'm hoping that it will be much better. It was so bad that it kicked me into getting serious about weight loss.
Hi Ladies- Sorry so late today. I had to get the pioneer outfit finished and in the mail today. I got another order last night so I will either cut it out tonight or tomorrow.
My grand daughter stayed home from school 3 days this week. She was running a fever and felt like she was going to be sick. She carried a trash can around with her for 2 days just in case. Today she came to spend the day with me. She was feeling a little better, but was still coughing and said she had a sore throat. She spend most of the day doing makeup homework. My daughter brought more homework home today. Poor kid. They are cramming for the Achievement tests next week.
The Red Hat Meeting was fun. We had 14 ladies here in my little house. We had lots of pizza and ice cream. I ate 1 slice of thin crust pepperoni pizza and a ice cream cone made with fat free ice cream. No topping that way. Everyone seemed to have a good time. We had a guest that is thinking about joining our madness.
Ella- Your jacket sounds very unique. My goal in life is to learn how to quilt. I wouldn't think about making my own patchwork fabric though.
I hate losing a post. I almost always type it elsewhere and copy it here.
How odd that you DD loved the pasta last week and had a totally different opinion last night.
Karen- How nice that Tim's customers are standing behind him. What would he do if they offered him his job back?
Sorry to hear about the weight gain. You will get it back off in no time.
Luflic- Our Red Hat group does most things in the evening. Many of my ladies work days so it is best for us that way. You can search on the Red Hat website for chapters in your area and contact them to see if they will work for you. Many do meet during the day. If you can't find one that you like just start your own chapter. It's really not that hard. You get to make the rules that way.
Lyn- I did WW. I lost 50 pounds going to the meetings. I made gaol and I'm not a lifetime member. Unfortunately I started gaining the weight back and hated to pay so I quit going to meetings. BIG MISTAKE! I gained back almost all the weight.
Flutterby-
Theresa- on your lower numbers.
Vicky-
Hi Ladies- Sorry so late today. I had to get the pioneer outfit finished and in the mail today. I got another order last night so I will either cut it out tonight or tomorrow.
OK, back to work. I just didn't want you all to think I was still partying from last night.
Hope you all had a good day! Did "Core Secrets" AND "HipHopAbs" today. BIG MISTAKE! Ooooooo! Gonna be sore tomorrow! I'm hoping that a rest day will help. Tomorrow we will be in the rain and mud at our son's track meet. Good thing I love MUD!
Hi Vicky! Glad to have you here with us! Loved your "grown and flown" comment! We have A LOT of gardeners in this group! Today I bought loofa seeds to plant! I'm thinking that it will be a lot of fun to see if I can get a bunch of nice-sized ones that we can actually USE as sponges and also some to give as presents.
Ellabella- I love my Teva sandals, too! They are my favorite ones to wear at amusement parks because when I get off water rides my feet are dry in no time!
Hi everyone
I have lost 3 pounds
Now the trick will be to keep that loss going. I have decided to weigh myself on Saturday each week and I don't mind if all I lose is one pound a week as long as I lose. There will be times when I will stick at the same weight but I know that can be overcome.
Three pounds off not a bad start is it.
That has given me encouragement to keep going and to up the exercise as well. You never know a slimmer me may be going on holiday in September after all.
We are going on a break to Cornwall it is a cheap break and is my birthday present from my son, I will be there for my birthday. He knows I have wanted to get to see the Eden Project so looked around on the internet for a break in Cornwall and found one so I will be going on a short holiday this year. A three day break in Bodmin Cornwall Something to work towards as well.
Good Morning Golden Girls! Minnesota's weather is finally cooperating with our garden plans, DH is going to plant the cold weather crops, lettuce, spinach etc. this morning. I'm going to hang a couple loads of laundry out and put up a permanent fence around the outside edge of our raspberries, darn things droop over and makes it hard to mow next to them. Our Apricot trees are in full flower and beautiful. Oh, I love spring! Welcome Flutterby, Lynard and ThriftyWife! Thanks for taking the time to tell us about yourself. What's the best thing that happened to you after you turned 50? JayJay... We're all waiting to hear about your boot camp, what's happening? Karen... Hang in there honey! Luflic... Yes, you can use any kind of cabbage you want to. I've used red cabbage in soup before, the red color bleeds out and looks kind of anemic but it's still tasty. Have you tried making lemonade out of your water, that helps get it down. I add a bit of lemon or lime to my water. I drink quarts of coffee everyday and it tends to dehydrate me so I make sure I have plenty of water in too. (9-12 glasses)This question has always been debated, some say liquid is liquid, I personally have problems with coffee as my required liquid.
Quote:
I am doing well. Staying under my 1600 calories not drinking enough water. Does coffe and tea count?I am up to six glasses of water I know I need to increase but I already spend a lot of time in the potty
Theresa... Congrats on the great news!

Cholesterol 159was over 210 (lowered with no meds) Triglycerides 131was over 300 LDL 69 I Don’t know the before (lowered with no meds) The doctor says this morning I can finish the bottle of tricore. And just take fish oil 3 times a day!
You are very fortunate! My cholesterol was 337 at one time (12 years ago) and Doc put me on a diet and exercise program. I lost the weight, got down to a size 6 and my cholesterol dropped some but not enough. He said some people just make more cholesterol naturally and I'm one of them. So I've been on very expensive meds for years. DH retired at 62 and we lost our medical insurance that paid for RX's. I took myself off the meds and my cholesterol sky rocketed again. So I'm on them for life, fortunally they have generic now. As far as the fish oil, did he say what kind of fish oil? Just yesterday I switched to a new pharmacy (Wal*Mart, they have a fantastic discount program) and he told me the Rochester clinic here in Minnesota did a long term test on the advantages of taking fish oil for lowering cholesterol. It works! They recommend taking 5 a day. What did your doc recommend? Ella... Geez, do you know how many times I've taken the time to post and have it do a Houdi act? I don't blame you for doing a copy/paste from Word. If you want to quote something others has posted on a page back, forget it. That's how I've lost them before, does anyone know how to get around this. Aha! I got it, maybe put all the quotes on Word, then copy/post and fill in around them on this thread! P.S. I think your DD had a bad case of PMS when you served WW Pasta. Paula... I just had to tell you what a beautiful seamstress you are, the two dresses are darling. We have a family of 12 that wear very modest clothing to church. The mom makes all the clothes and they pretty much look like the dresses you made. A couple of the girls wear the bonnets too! Aren't we lucky that nowaday we can wear jeans, shorts, etc. Wulfcwen... congrats on the 3 # loss. I'm burning sunlight, gotta go. Hi everyone else, have a great week-end. Bobbi
I will try again...wrote a long post, and did something wrong, and away it went. But not to where I wanted it to go. Ha!
I had lost .75 on Thursday. Not near as much as I wanted to lose, but I will take it!
This will be short, as it is 3:30 AM.!!! I went to bed early and woke up at 2 AM and can't get back to sleep, so thought I would check mail and post here!
I hope you all have a good and restful weekend.
Will not be back until Monday or Tuesday as we are going out of town after church tomorrow.
Sunday's they are always a problem food wise that is. We sometimes have a roast dinner and that means more calories so I am working on that. Less roast potatoes and more veg on the plate.
I am going to try new methods of roasting the potatoes to lessen the fat but still have them.
Dessert's are also a problem. I have never been a dessert person so I usually go with yogurts during the week but Sunday is different. This week I am going with tinned fruit and a scoop of icecream.
Fish oil to lower cholesterol! that sounds interesting. I take a pill very day to keep mine down but if it could be lowered by taking fish oil that would be great.
Hmmmm. Not much activity here yesterday, I see. Well, maybe everyone’s been busy - hopefully doing fun stuff and not anything horrifically dull like cleaning - which is what I did yesterday morning.
Blah. SO not a thrill, eh?
Well, ANYWAY. I was up early (naturally; old people require less sleep, right? Well, wrong, actually. If I don’t get enough sleep, I’m exhausted all day and that’s the truth) and got 90% of the cleaning done by 9:30, at which time I took a quick shower, put on my “biking clothes” (Can I tell you that six months ago, if anyone had suggested that I might own “biking clothes” I would’ve laughed at them?) and did my 30-minute ride through the neighborhood. Ta-dahhh! The new, improved me!!!!
DH did not accompany me. Have you ever kept a helium-filled balloon - from a birthday party or something - around the house? It sort of floats about, ghost-like, for four or five days, and slowly deflates...gets smaller and smaller...until it becomes this flaccid little orb that you actually begin to feel sympathetic towards before you just throw the danged thing out. Well, that’s the perfect analogy for DH’s enthusiasm for bike-riding with me. Very robust and enthusiastic in the beginning, and then, it just pooped out as the days went by. Ahhhh, well, I’m not going to nag him about riding; turning it into a chore certainly wouldn’t do any good. Besides, I’ve developed my own little route, and to tell the truth, I’m rather enjoying it as my “alone” time. I even imagine myself as a great athlete - sometimes when I’m pedaling along furiously (just prior, in most cases, to coasting just as furiously) I imagine myself to be “in the zone”. Yesterday morning I was humming “We Are The Champions”. How pitiful is that? (Kinda fun, though).
So after my ride, I had to do grocery shopping and return an outfit one of my DD’s bought me for my birthday. She spent a fortune on something I wouldn’t be caught dead in. Seriously. She gave me the receipt, knowing that I would probably exchange it. I wonder why they (my kids) haven’t figured out how I dress yet.
Got home and DH & I went to Home Depot to get wood for a shelf unit that DH is building for one of our bathrooms. Because of the light configuration in there (which I like) we can’t just put in one of those over-the-toilet shelf units that you can buy pre-manufactured because they’re all just a few inches too tall. Lucky DH enjoys small construction projects. Also had to buy new ceramic floor tiles, as I am changing the colors in there.
THEN a rush to get home because my youngest daughter’s DH, who is studying for the teacher certification exam - he teaches math, and is certified in math (he‘s brilliant in math), but also has to get certified in English for some absurd reason - was coming over for a tutorial with me. We reviewed his work for @ an hour, and then he and I went for a bike ride. DH was working on the shelf unit for the bathroom. Came back and made shepherd’s pie for SIL, as he absolutely loves it and I haven’t made it for him for awhile. DH isn’t crazy about it, but will eat it, and was hungry by the time we ate - at @ 7:30. I, of course, did not eat shepherd’s pie, although I was sorely tempted by those creamy, yummy mashed potatoes. Why can’t I feel that way towards...um... celery??? The SIL left, taking the rest of a very large pan of shepherd’s pie with him, and DH and I chit-chatted for a while and then went on to bed. We were both pretty tired. Long day. OH! I weighed myself AFTER my morning bike ride yesterday, too. ONE pound again. ONE. Jeeze. Better than gaining a pound, certainly. But better than losing 3? Um. NOT. I. Will. Persevere. Oh, to be young again and lose ten pounds in three or four days, eh?
Yanno, I’ve written way too much here to leave room to say “hi” to every Golden Girl. Please forgive my river of words, and know that I think you're all super-wonderful and *GOLDEN* and I am absolutely LOVING our little (and ever-growing) group!
I have lots of yard work today, so I am going to keep this fast.
Bobby,
My dr. did not give me an amount of fish oil to take. It’s a good question though… I will call him back Monday.
For Now I am going with the 3 times a day that the Dr. did mention. Fish oil AT 1200 mg. each.
I am also starting Flaxseed oil. 2 times a day. Each one is 1000 mg.
Kmart had Nature Made supplements ON sale. BOGO. So I bought fish oil for $ 15, and got the flax seed free! I think I am going back in the morning to see if the sale is still on.
I guess that cutting out about 95% or red meat did not hurt me either. Mostly I have been doing just fish and chicken. Some pork here and there too. Very lean.
I made about 2.5 oz. Pork chops, trimmed. Baked with Kraut over it the other day! Yummy. Added a baked Potato instead of Mashed potatoes. No butter. The whole thing was just over 300 calories. Then add you favorite veggie or salad. I will do that again. It has lots of flavor. So I enjoy eating it a lot.
Here is some information on Fish oil and Flaxseed oil.
Omega-3 fatty acids are a form of polyunsaturated fat that the body derives from food. Omega-3s (and omega-6s) are known as essential fatty acids (EFAs) because they are important for good health. The body cannot make these fatty acids on its own so omega-3s must be obtained from food.
These different types of acids can be obtained in foods such as cold-water fish including tuna, salmon, and mackerel.
Other important omega 3 fatty acids are found in dark green leafy vegetables, flaxseed oils, and certain vegetable oils.
Omega-3 fatty acids have been found to be beneficial for the heart. Positive effects include anti-inflammatory and anti-blood clotting actions, lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and reducing blood pressure. These fatty acids may also reduce the risks and symptoms for other disorders including diabetes, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, some cancers, and mental decline.
FLAXSEED acts as a bulk-forming laxative for treating constipation. The seeds, flax meal, or powders absorb water in the stomach and intestine, increasing the bulk and movement of the stool. Flaxseed is available without prescription as a dietary supplement. It is found in many forms including cracked or whole flaxseeds, flax meal, flaxseed oil, or flaxseed powder.
Flaxseed oil is claimed to help reduce cholesterol levels.
Flaxseed oil is derived from the seeds of the flax plant. Flaxseed oil and flaxseed contain substances that promote good health.
Flaxseed oil is rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential fatty acid that appears to be beneficial for heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis and a variety of other health conditions.
Flaxseed, in addition to ALA, contains a group of chemicals called lignans that may play a role in the prevention of cancer. Please see the flaxseed monograph for further information on this herbal agent. ALA, as well as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), belongs to a group of substances called omega-3 fatty acids. EPA and DHA are found primarily in fish while ALA is mostly found in flaxseed oil and other vegetable oils. Although similar in structure, the benefits of ALA, EPA, and DHA are not necessarily the same
It is important to maintain an appropriate balance of omega-3 and omega-6 (another essential fatty acid) in the diet as these two substances work together to promote health.
These essential fats are both examples of polyunsaturated fatty acids, or PUFAs. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and most omega-6 fatty acids tend to promote inflammation. An inappropriate balance of these essential fatty acids contributes to the development of disease while a proper balance helps maintain and even improve health. A healthy diet should consist of roughly two to four times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. The typical American diet tends to contain 14 to 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids and many researchers believe this imbalance is a significant factor in the rising rate of inflammatory disorders in the United States.
Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation and help prevent certain chronic diseases such as heart disease and arthritis. These essential fatty acids appear to be particularly important for cognitive and behavioral function as well as normal growth and development.
High Cholesterol People who follow a Mediterranean diet tend to have higher HDL ("good") cholesterol levels.
The Mediterranean diet consists of a healthy balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It emphasizes whole grains, root and green vegetables, daily intake of fruit, fish and poultry, olive and canola oils, and ALA, along with discouragement of ingestion of red meat and total avoidance of butter and cream.
High Blood Pressure Several studies suggest that diets and/or supplements rich in omega-3 fatty acids (including ALA) lower blood pressure significantly in people with hypertension. Fish high in mercury (such as tuna) should be avoided, however, because they may increase blood pressure.
Heart Disease One of the best ways to help prevent and treat heart disease is to eat a low-fat diet and to replace foods rich in saturated and trans-fat with those that are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (including omega-3 fatty acids from flaxseed oil).
Evidence suggests that people who eat an ALA-rich diet are less likely to suffer a fatal heart attack.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Some people with Crohn's disease (CD), one form of IBD, have low levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their bodies.
Fish oil supplements containing omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce symptoms of CD and ulcerative colitis (another inflammatory bowel disease), particularly if used in addition to medication.
Preliminary animal studies have found that ALA (such as from flaxseed oil) may actually be more effective than EPA and DHA found in fish oil supplements, but further studies in humans are needed to confirm these findings.
Arthritis Several studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acid supplements reduce tenderness in joints, decrease morning stiffness, and allow for a reduction in the amount of medication needed for people with rheumatoid arthritis and, probably, osteoarthritis as well.
Depression People who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids or do not maintain a healthy balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids in their diet may be at an increased risk for depression. The omega-3 fatty acids are important components of nerve cell membranes. They help nerve cells communicate with each other, which is an essential step in maintaining good mental health
Dietary Sources Flaxseed oil is obtained from the seed of the flax plant. It contains 50% to 60% omega-3 fatty acids. This amount is roughly double that contained in fish oil
What drug(s) may interact with flaxseed? Flaxseed fiber can absorb some medications and decrease their effectiveness. It is best not to take flaxseed within 2 hours of taking other medications. The following medicines in particular may be affected: •digoxin •salicylates (like aspirin, choline salicylate, or magnesium salicylate) •warfarin
Well I have to go walk for a little while. and then get the lawn mowed BEFORE it rains again. Or I might get lost in the tall grass.
Then I have to fertilize. and work on some gardens.
Thanks for the info Theresa, I use to take Flax oil for years, think I even have some......
Ella, I am laughing at how you described your dh comparied to a balloon! lol
My dh is now walking in the a.m. with me for my 1 mile DVD, we shall see how long that lasts too.....he may be up there floating away with your dh!!!!
I am still fighting with this 1/2 lb. . I walked 6 miles this week and really watching the calorie intake. Guess my body has to level off here and hopefully drop that soon. Bobbi, I enjoyed the article you posted....I'll keep on going.
I may go swimming for a bit, maybe a different exercise will help....now I'm not a great lap swimmer at all....maybe 2 laps, just not a really good swimmer but that and some pool arobics might do the trick.
Ella, You are a good mother-in-law. Homemade shepherd's pie AND tutoring! I hope he appreciates you. DeCordova Sculpture Park sounds very much like the one I go to in NJ.
Wulfcwen, I use Crestor to lower my cholesterol & I think it's giving me painful pins and needles in my feet.
Wanda, I couldn't sleep last night either. At 5 AM I was still tossing and turning.
Bobbi & Ella, I use Notepad to write my note & then cut and paste to the website.
Paula, My daughter has been sick with a sore throat and fever since 4/11. She's on her second antibiotic and will go back to the Dr. on Monday if she's still sick.
Flutterby & Moxie, I have had hot flashes for 10 years! They used to be horrible - now they are just annoying. I used to take harmones. When I stopped, the hot flashes came on immediately.
Thriftywife, I'm with you. The only way I actually stick to anything is to plan my meal the day before.
Phyllis, where do you swim? Your own pool or a gym?
Yesterday I took my Little Sister shopping to find shoes to go with the Communion dress. Her first Communion is on Saturday. Today, I'm going to the Boehm porcelain factory to see how they make their porcelains. They make beautiful flowers and animals and birds and other things.
I am down 2 lbs today - from yesterday, NOT from my ticker - I just never upped my ticker! I'm really trying to stick to reasonable meal plans for the diabetes. Guess it's working.
Hi Ladies- Yesterday was a busy day. I worked on a pioneer dress all morning and then we went to a Boy Scout Swiss Steak dinner. My 2 oldest grandsons are Boy Scouts so I had to buy ticket to help with their summer camp discount. Not really diet friendly, but the scale didn't show a change so that's good.
Cheryl- How are feeling after you workouts?
Wulfcwen- : Great news on the 3 pounds loss!
Your trip sounds delightful. I searched Cornwall and it's lovely.
The weekends are always hard for me. We eat out most of the weekend and it's hard to make wise choices when you see all the yummy things on the menu.
Bobbi- Thank you for your compliment on my sewing. I am always amazed to see how much people are willing to pay for items sight unseen. An there is no way I would pay what I charge for a costume to be worn in a school play, but I'm glad some people don't have a problem with it.
Wanda- : .75 is almost a whole pounds. You go girls!
I can relate on not being able to sleep. I felt tired all day yesterday and then when I went to bed I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned for hours before I finally fell to sleep.
Ella- I love your description of your hubby. I'm glad you are still enjoying your : Yea! another pound gone.
Theresa: I noticed that CVS had their brand vitamins, minerals and Herbals on sale BOGO this week. You have to have an ExtraCare card to get the discount, but if you don't have one already you can get one at the register.
You made me hungry for pork and Kraut. I'm going to have to make it this week for dinner.
Phyllis- I've heard that your body gets use to the exercise you are doing and it's a good thing to change it up.
Lynn- Another one with a sleepless night. We should have all got together and had a party! : Super!! 2 pounds is great!!
I'd better get to the laundry. I also have to start back walking. I've taken a week break and the scale is showing it!!
Good Morning!
I thought that I would do a quick post this morning. Glad to see that everybody is doing good.
Paula, it sounds like your Red Hat meeting was a success!! It really sounds like you have such a good time when you all get together. If and when things ever settle down here I may check out and see what I can find out about them around here. Thoses dresses that you posted are so cute! It must be nice to have such talent!
Hi Cheryl--- How was the track meet? Are you still sore from the work outs? I like to get a little sore but not so much that I can't do it the next day. Now after this week I'm going to really have to get busy and get back on track with my walking.
Wulfcwen--- Congratulations on the 3 pounds lost!!! Way to go! It always makes you feel good to see that on the scales!
Lynn--- YEA!!! 2 pouds gone!! Isn't it great?? I know we can all do this!
Hello Phyllis and Theresa! Both Tim and I take the Flaxseed Oil and the Fish Oil. But I found that if you go to Puritan Pride you can buy them "Buy 2 and get 3 free" So that is a really good deal. We just order them off their website but you can also have them send you a catalog. Theresa, that is great on your numbers!!
Ella--- you made me laugh about your DH!! Tim is always so nice to give advice on how things should work but really doesn't jump in there to do any walking with me. He may now though since he will be home more. It sounds like you are doing great on your bike rides!! Good job!!
Wanda--- almost a pound! That is great too.. Remember we are going to lse this weight one pound at a time!! It all didn't come on overnight so we can't expect it to go away over night!
Hey Bobbi, It sounds like your weather is letting you be outside more and more! We just don't have a long enough season here to grow anything. PLUS all the deer would probably eat anything that might come up before we could get to it! I was going to try to grow some tomatos in some pots this year but now that we weill be leaving here and be gone for about a month I won't even try that this year.
Vicky, Flutterby, and Thriftywife--- Glad that you joined us and look forward to getting to know all of you.
Jayjay, Luflic Cheryl, Moxiesd-- Sounds like you are all doing wonderful. I love to read the posts everyday.
I guess I will just take my execise ticker off for this next month. I'm not sure when we will be leaving to go back East but I know I will be spending at least 10 days sitting in a vehicle to travel there and back. So not much walking there!! And I have no idea how things are going to go when we get there. I plan on bringing my WATP's but will see how much gets done while I'm gone.
I hope you all have a good day today and now I need to get back and finish getting the dogs ready to go. They both had baths this morning and now I need to get them all brushed out. I'll check back later. Karen
