Kara - that sucks! I'll let you know how long mine lasts for. BOO! Off to run!

How do you know? The reason I ask is cause I've had mine since Nov. and dh has had his for > 18 months and we've never noticed a battery sensor thing.

kara - did it come WITH a battery? sometimes the battery things come with are not very good. Either they were old to begin with or they went through bad temp flux.

part of me is just shocked to learn that ipod stuff isnt rechargeable. Every once in awhile I consider getting one, and then I dont. I like running in silence.

6.26 hard miles this morning 1 mile w/u and then 5 miles @ 1/2M race pace. Felt good, between ice and illness my runs have been sloooooowwww.

I did my ten mile run today! My leg was kind of sore throughout, so I stopped to stretch a few times. I noticed that whenever I stopped, it hurt REALLY bad, but when I was running, it felt pretty good. I really should have stopped running, because I know running through the pain is bad, but I really wanted to do this run. When I got home, I could barely walk down the hall and then up to my apartment. I immediately grabbed my foam roller, which felt great, and also did a ton of stretching. My leg is still slightly sore, but I can walk normally, so hopefully I'll be okay. But yay! I'm proud of myself for doing this. The half-marathon is totally doable.

AND I kept up an 8:59 pace. I would love to be under a 9:00 pace for the race just because that would be so awesome, but my biggest goal is to finish in under 2 hours. It should be interesting, because a 9:09 pace puts me at 2:00 even, so it's touch and go whether I'll make it in before 2 hours. I really hope so though!!!

That sounds like a good run Laura, I think you'll manage to run it in under 2 hours (barring unpredictable things happening on the day).

I was meant to be doing the 5k time trial this morning and then a long run tomorrow when I'm over staying with my grandfather, but it was such nice weather this morning (and not predicted to be tomorrow) that I decided to do my long run today and skip the TT. The long runs are more important for marathon training after all. I ended up doing just over 16 miles at 9 minute mile pace. Although I'm not following his programmes, I'm trying to use a Hal Higdon tip of running the first part of a long run slower, then speeding up towards marathon pace towards the end if I still have the energy. It seems to be working quite nicely at the moment, so fingers crossed I'll get that GFA time (sub 3:45) this year!

Have you tried icing the area? That's what my dd's cross country coach and trainer recommend for their athletes. Nice job on the time!

I ran 4.7 miles today and Joan Benoit Samuelson came on my iPod and said good job. That was fun. :-)

It's the sensor for the shoe that is announcing that its battery is low. It "told" me on the iPod screen when it showed the workout summary. At the very bottom it said, "Sensor battery: low". I believe it because I had to run an extra third of a mile for it to tell me I'd done three miles (I was on a track so I counted the laps to "check it") and it also told me I was running at a 13+ minutes per mile pace by the end, which I know I was NOT. I think I'll try to get in touch with the company and see what they'll do for me.

Regardless, I got three miles in this morning. Right on track with the training plan.

Kara - let us know how you get on... can you start at the shop where it was purchased, and THEN try the company if the shop won't replace it? Three weeks is ridiculous!!

Thanks Helen - I do think I can do 10K sooner than I thought - which is still mind-numbingly unbelievable to me! I have a tendency to plan my whole life around my running now - bizarre!

I did three miles at 6mph yesterday; today I'll have a day off running and do my weights.

10 tough miles today. Doing the pace run the day before the long run is definitely challenging. Plus we did a rolling hills route.

Went swimming this morning. Amazing how tired my arms were after running hard this weekend.

6.25 miles for my today on the treadmill - that's my 10K! Wh00t!

It was pouring with rain today, I was so tempted not to go to running club. But somehow it's never as bad as you think it's going to be, and the hot bath when I got home seems to have made up for it. I must remember that next time I try to talk myself out of running! We did about 6.4 miles and looked at some of the flooding. My trainers are now soaked though, I might need to wear my other pair for tomorrow's run while they dry.

And Helen, you're crazy. I went running in the rain once, by accident (I didn't realize it was raining as hard as it was until I was a couple miles in and by then I didn't want to stop.) I was soaked through to the bone (through my white T-shirt, nonetheless) and very grumpy when I got home. No endorphin rush that run!

I did my three miles today in twenty-five minutes! Yay! I love my running shoes. They feel like slippers. Do you guys buy the same brand and model every time or do you switch it up? I've read I should get about 400 miles per pair. And what do you do with your shoes after they've exhausted their safe running use? Do you have a whole cabinet of old shoes???
