  • Good Morning everybody . . .

CRIMEGIRL . . . We are absolutely delighted to have you join us. Hope you'll have a few minutes to take a look at the STICKY area at the top of the forum. There's a special introduction thread where you can read about most of us and stick in some more details about yourself. There are also lot's and lot's of bits of valuable information threads and links in that Sticky section as well.

THIN . . . you are so right . . . I'm very proud of you. Just watch out for hypos Chickie. Hope you are carrying glucose tabs with you.

My day is definitely not shaping up well. Started out with great intentions --

    (1) Looked at 'Buddy Ball' (admit that I haven't been spending time with him lately) and decided he needed a little air. Found the pump and brought him back up to par. (2) Dug out the Crazy Frog video; stuck it in the DVD; lots of sound, no picture --"somebody" managed to completely disconnect the video cable and then chewed a hole in it. -- All I know for sure is that I don't chew on wires, so it wasn't me. Unless I've been 'sleep-chewing'. (3) Hunted around and found an old cable (Works sporadically at best; but I kept it for emergencies; isn't it nice that one came along.) Hooked everything up again. Yippee, we have both sound and picture now.

BTW, I had a couple of cups of coffee in there too and it is now two hours since I started this 'must exercise before breakfast' crap. My BGL was a nasty 6.8 (122) first thing. Checked it again, and it's dropped to 5.3 (95).

    (4) Anyway, since everything is finally connected, figure I'll do a few minutes of energetic bouncing before I eat -- turned around, sat on the ball, and thought I wasn't going to stop until I hit the floor. The air is seeping out somewhere. (5) Finally just said to the with it . . . Made protein panckes for breakfast, and then came up here. So much for my morning exercise. Guess I'm going shopping later for another new video cable (don't trust the one that's on there now) and a new stability ball.

Oh yes . . . the weather is still raining (or maybe it's raining again), whatever; it is not improving my mood any.

Hope everybody else is having a great morning . . . see you all later
  • Hi Meowee,

A buddy ball, wow those things scare me, I think I would fall off, I am pretty clumsy. Those bad kitties of yours LOL, they love to chew. Is your freezer still taped shut?

I don't get low BG readings ever. I've never seen it under 4.8 even if I don't eat for hours, I had my regular dinner before I went to the party and I don't eat in the evenings, so there was no chance of me going low. I had a few comments/compliments on my weightloss last night, it was pretty cool.
  • Hi everyone!

Thanks for the warm welcome. To answer the questions- I am Type 2 diabetic and am on Byetta ( which I love) and Metformin. I am doing ok so far with everything except I fall off the wagon on occasion with the meds which is not good especially with the Byetta. I get so busy that I eat when I get home and don't do my Byetta which I have to wait 30 minutes after taking to eat. Sigh!

Thin- Fantastic job not eating anything- I know that was hard and you should be proud of yourself! I am guessing your trip is the one at the bottom of your ticker- sounds like a ton of fun!

Meow-You had me laughing so loudly with your morning mishaps! I was watching a couple of kittens for a few weeks for a friend and they can be sneaky. I am guessing you are not chewing the cord yourself in the middle of the night. LOL!

I have to ask - what are BG readings?
  • Eventually taking the meds becomes a habit . . . although even I forget once in awhile. BTW, Byetta is not available in Canada.

    BG = Blood Glucose
    BGL = Blood Glucose Level
. . . looks better than BS (Blood Sugar) . . . but it is the same thing and something we usually all post first thing.

Thin and I are in Canada and we use a different scale than you do in the US -- actually, a better way to say that would be -- in the US, you use a different scale than the rest of the world does. Anyway, we usually remember to translate. To go from Canadian to US, multiply by 18 -- i.e., our 5.0 x 18 = your 90.

    See you soon . . .
  • Thanks for the clarification- I am bad about checking my blood glucose levels too. I know that is something I need to get better about.

I am sorry Byetta is not available in Canada because it is a miracle drug. Hopefully you guys will get it soon. It has helped so much with my weight loss-it makes you feel full all the time. It use to make me a little sick to my stomach but now it is good and keeps things in balance.
  • Good Morning everybody . . .

Well, it is Sunday. Hope everybody has been having a great weekend. My BGL was a nasty little 7.0 (126) this morning. Life with this disease is definitely not fun sometimes. Weather is still overecast and pretty cool, High of 13C (55F) predicted for today, but they are saying the sun will be coming out. Hope so.

Here's a little FFFF for today . . . as we know, everybody is putting an emphasis on more healthy eating and drinking these days . . . but . . . did you know -- most restaurants mark-up the price of bottled water by 300% to 500% -- the mark-up on wine is only 100% to 150% . . . what's wrong with this picture. Wow.

Have a great day . . . drink lots of water (at home, preferrably). See you soon . . .

    Thanks

I had another challenge last night at my husbands golf club and again, I did really good. I had a club soda to drink, I had the same salad as everyone else (even though I requested low fat dressing - they forgot) then as everyone had prime rib with scalloped potatoes and buttered almond green beans, they brought me my own plate with a small steak, no salt, no butter, & steamed vegetables. Then for dessert everyone had warm apple tarts with cinnamon ice cream, they brought me a fresh fruit plate.

Hi Meowee, my BG was 6.2 this morning and I'm feeling okay. We are still having glorious weather in Toronto, sunshine and the trees changing, so pretty. I love this time of year.

I made my daughter a grilled cheese sandwich before I went out yesterday and left the butter out by mistake, well today there were little buttery paw prints on the kitchen counter and 'tongue prints' on the butter
  • Good afternoon everyone!

I just got back from the gym- I walked an hour at 3.2 mph so I am full of energy now.

Thin - I am so impressed by your resolve. You are truly an inspiration. Even though I am determined to lose I don't know if I could have your strength in that situation. Congrats to you!

Meow- I agree with you- something is out of wack that water is so expensive. I have to admit though- I buy really expensive water but I love it! If the taste improvement I think it has is purely in my head please don't tell me because I love my bottled water.
  • Just passing through! My BG is still running high in the mornings...I can't seem to get it down for anything. I upped my glimperide, that didn't work, reduced my carb intake at dinner, that didn't help, exercised at night, and that didn't help. I am stymied.

I am waiting on my kiln to shut off. I wish it would hurry up because I am going to go bonkers if I have to wait until late tomorrow afternoon to open it!

Hi CRIME GIRL! Welcome! I am on Byetta too. When I first started on it, it kept my bg perfect! It was so awesome! I lost about 10 pounds, then the weight loss stopped, and now my bg is slowly creeping up again. I am kind of worried about that....no, not worried, I get MAD about it!

MEOWEE: I am testing that glaze you liked..I hope it looks as good on my test piece as that sample did. I will let you know.
