I've been on my diet for almost 8 weeks and we went from ordering a pizza at least once a week to nothing like that in the house.
Tonight my daughter (13) has a friend staying over and wanted pizza, it was a real test for me, calling, ordering - it smelled and looked so good, extra cheese gooey and hot. It was so hard not to have any, I made the girls take the whole thing away to their room and told them to put the left overs in the garage fridge (not the kitchen fridge) I just didn't want to see it and be tempted.
I have not missed sweet things like chocolate or cookies etc.. but I really miss cheese, pizza, burgers, lasagna, chips - salty stuff like that.
Hello Everyone!!!
Ive been all around on these boards, because Ive switched diets so many times, And I never posted in the 100 pound group because if I lost a 100 pounds I would probaly look like I should wear a sign around my neck, asking someone to feed me. So im glad I found yall!!!!
Name: Stacie
Age: 19
SW/CW/GW & height (if not in your avatar): I got down to 189, but am back up to 194, I started at 215.
Short goal/Date: Im giving myself time to lose weight so I dont dissapoint myself, I have about a year and 4 months to lose the weight before my 21st birthday, but I want to be 170 ish by september.
Which plan (or no plan): I probaly switch diets every other week, I know its not good but I want to try everything. I started with JC, and lost 7 pounds in about 2 1/2 weeks, then I tryed South Beach, for about 5 days, and lost about 5 pounds. Oh and before this I counted calories myself and got down to 201, before I started all these other diets. So right now I think Im going to do my own but following something like atkins. Im just going to limit carbs to a little under 20g. a day.
Which types of exercise (if any): I have turbo jam, but havent used it in a while, but I think I want to dance in somesort of way, oh and Im doing Couch to 5k.
Evening all
It has been a really busy day and not had time to post. Today was the last day that my sister was here. She is on an airplane as we speak. I took the boys to Ratatouille tonight. Ok-I know I spelled that wrong!!! Anyways, I hope to start doing some reg. diet and exercise tomorrow.
Oh- a bit of exciting news not that anyone will realy get it but....
The middle school where I teach just received an A rating by the state. It is partly decided by state testing. It means more money for teachers yet more pressure. Anyways, gotta get the boys in bed. It is a late night for them. I will get back on I'm sure once they are in bed.

Good for you T-Girl, I know how difficult that must have been! I looove pizza, lol, but I really try not to eat it because it really has a way of throwing off my progress.
Welcome Stacie! I know what you mean about a different diet every week, I do that too sometimes. I just can't seem to stick to one 'plan'.
Evening Heather! That is great news about the school, good for you all!

Yay, great news! My mother has been office manager at my old middle school for far too long (I personally think middle school is a dangerous place to be an authority figure!), so I totally understand where you're coming from. I really hate the way that system works, because - especially in middle school - you're never really sure if the kids will decide to care about testing, even if you've instructed them admirably... and that's just one possibility of many that causes teachers' livelihoods to hang in the balance. I'm glad yours got an A rating!
I'm pretty new to dieting and 3FCs as I'm sure I've mentioned a lot, so this is my first "yay healthy lifestyle" story to share... I hope no one minds! WARNING, there are long-winded ingredients/preparations below, so I hope I don't make anyone hungry.
I started counting calories and exercising 4 days ago, and have been gradually shifting over from a very sparse, low-volume but high-fat/carb diet to something more resembling a healthy diet. While I love to experiment with food, I will freely admit I am a horrible cook (I usually wander away and let things burn!), so when I made myself dinner tonight I was excited but worried.
It turned out amazing! I've never cooked anything so tasty in my life, and it was so healthy! The portions were a touch too large, but I didn't mind terribly because my calories are too low for the day (still). What I made was sauteed tilapia and veggies (zucchini, carrots, and asparagus), and I guess you would call it a "chicken broth reduction?" Haha, I don't know if you can use that fancy term on anything so simple.
I used some extra virgin olive oil Pam for both the tilapia and then the veggies, and used just a touch of flour (a tip I read online) to give the tilapia some nice texture and golden brown colour. I made the sauce by reducing a cup of Swanson "Natural Goodness" chicken broth (fat-free, 33% less sodium) with some green onion and a bit of pepper and garlic powder. For reference, a whole cup was too much for just me! Now I know.
I made sure to use lite salt, and added some spicy with cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper to all of it. I love hot spices, because they're tasty and boost your metabolism just a smidge. All in all, the meal was around 265 calories, 2.45g of fat, 25.6g of carbs, and just about 40g of protein.
I don't each much in the way of fish, but boy is that going to change. I can't believe I don't eat more, it's so delicious! And so many healthy things going for it. I'm going to have to learn more about it, so I don't end up eating too much, I think.
Anyway, that is my story. I am more enthused about eating right and exercising than I've ever been in my life, and I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it all. I may have to learn some more healthy recipes from everyone here (who is no doubt VASTLY better at healthy cooking than I am).
And feel free to ask me any time if you need any bad cooking tips.
Hi Ethereal, congrats on making a tasty dinner for yourself. Enjoying your meals are important for success otherwise you feel unsatisfied and look to other foods.
I don't like fish, but I make a similar recipe with chicken breast, (cubed) I saute' all the veggies first, add the cubed chicken and a couple of tablespoons of fat free salsa to the pan, stir and cover. It is delicious.
I have never tried DIET soda of any kind but I'm willing to try the A&W.
As for the pizza, oh man, talk about my favorite food!! I'm all about the carbs...and I love Italian. My first weigh is tomorrow 7/2.
Guess we'll have a new thread by then? I will be ticked off if I don't lose.
I wasn't "perfect", but I was a lot better than I have been in weeks.
I'm still SO tired ALL the time though...I could nap right now. I go to bed early too, just always sluggish.
HI everyone, I had a bit of a failure yesterday and gave into the temptation of warm sour dough bread with butter
I recovered and today was very good, even though I was tempted with evil things at the Canada Day party I attended. I managed to do my cardio today and stick to my diet so I am feeling better about the slip up yesterday, just keep that bread and butter away from me.
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been on this weekend, but my home computer died! Hopefully it will be back up and running in the next few days. Thanks goodness for my brother, he has brought it back more times than I can count!
I had a pretty good weekend. DH insisted we go out and eat. I ordered the chef salad and used restrant on the salad dressing! He even ordered cheesecake for both of us. I had the waitress box my piece up in a to go box and had three bites of his piece. I did eat part of my piece the next day, but gave DH the remaining part saying "But I ate yours last night". So I saved myself from eating all of it.
I am learning how to reinvent dishes also and cook more healthy things. I actually tried Tuna steaks this weekend and liked them! I will try and post the spice rub I used when I get my computer back up. (using work computer right now).
