I work with an animal rescue, and I have fostered a lot of dogs.
I was recently given a pregnant Beagle from an animal shelter that was picked up as a stray.
This was my first mamma dog that I personally cared for.
Because she was a stray there's no telling what got to her.
The animal shelter was going to put her down because they didn't want to deal with newborn puppies.
Anyway, she had three babies and they were HUGE compared to what a normal Beagle puppy looks like when it is born.
One was stillborn because it was stuck in the birth canal for too long.
The shelter didn't even bother taking her to the vet to know how many she had in there or to know how big they were.
It's just really sad.
My condolences for your loss, prayersinchairs. You've got such a huge heart to foster, that's a tough gig. How are momma and the other two babies doing?
You did a wonderful thing and even if one baby didn't make it, you saved three other lives! Hope they're doing well and that the babies find a good home.
