Haven't been here in a while..

  • It has been a long time since I have been here. I will be at 23 weeks tomorrow. Things are going well and we found out on AUg 16th that we are going to be having a little girl!!! I am still finding it hard to not feel guilty if I go out once a week and eat Chinese. I know it is only one meal and shouldn't hurt. I had lost about 60lbs before finding out I was pregnant. Got down to 273 (I'm 6' 2") and thought I was doing good. Now that I am pregnant, I lost some in the beginning, not trying to, and now am at 280lbs. The Dr. said in the beginning he only wanted me to gain around 10-15lbs. According to his scale I am already at about 15lbs. I have been weighing on my scale since Jan. His weighs me 5-7lbs heavier. Then again I weigh with only underwear at home.

Anyways, my prob. is that I need help to not feel guilty for eating something. I am still eating healthy, most of the time. But I do need to stop feeling so bad. I just want our little girl to be healthy. Any suggestions on how to change my thinking? Is 7 lbs really that bad at this stage??

Sorry to rant on. Just needing some reassurance please.
  • Congratulations on 23 weeks! That's awesome! How exciting!

Your hormones are probably raging right now, sending you into all kinds of mommy-guilt modes. Just do the best you can & let it go.

    *hugs!*
  • Thanks! I really am trying. Thanks again!!
  • Net 7 pounds at 23 weeks? Sounds like you're right on track!

BTW, WAY TO GO on losing 60 pounds pre-pg! You musta been doing something right - so enjoy the rest of your pregnancy (as much as those last few weeks can be "enjoyed" ) and get right back on track once you are postpartum. You'll be back to your old self - or better! - in no time.

Another BTW - one of my favorite WL "mantras" is the 90/10 rule - eat right 90% of the time, and indulge the other 10% just to keep yourself sane. One meal out of 21 each week is, like, barely 5%, right? So enjoy it!!!
  • Vibrantecho- I really love your way of thinking!!
That made me feel so much better. Thanks again.
  • 7 lbs at 23 weeks is awesome. You're over halfway and you have gained half what he said, right? I think he was shooting on the low side anyway, because you will lose at least 20 from birth and getting your blood volume and stuff back to normal. You won't gain the last couple of weeks before birth probably, so don't stress. You have done fantastic so far. I don't think chinese once a week is that bad, especially if you are getting some broccoli or snow peas in there. Keep up the good work!

  • Get a new doctor. There's nothing wrong with having gained seven pounds at 23 weeks. Nor, for that matter, is there anything wrong if you gain 25 or 30 pounds overall. Weight is just one very small portion of the overall when it comes to pregnancy health.
  • Thanks again everyone!! The Dr. hasn't said anything to me yet, but I can't help feeling like I am doing something wrong. I hate that guilty feeling though. I just want to be able to eat my meals and not feel bad.
  • While pregnant, I would be more worried about UNDEReating. As long as the baby is getting enough nutrients, it is FINE! No worrying, momma-bear!
  • Thanks, everyone has made me feel so much better. I really appreciate it. Thanks!!
