She wasn't born at home as I'd planned, but she was a successful VBA2C. (Vaginal birth after 2 caesarians.) After being in active labor for 36+ hours, I was just exhausted mentally & physically, so I went to the hospital for painkillers & augmentation. There were absolutely no complications, so in theory at least I could have stayed home. I am still a *huge* believer in homebirth--moreso, in fact, after the hideous "coaching" during the pushing stage--but I am also a believer in knowing your own limits.

I am just totally over the moon at having a third daughter, though I had started believing the total strangers who were telling me I must be having a boy because I was carrying low. So it was kind of funny when the doctor said "It's another girl!" and I was thinking "Huh! Imagine that!" even though I'd had no actual reason to expect a boy.

Ohhh Congratulations!!!! She is beautiful!! I'm so happy you were able to have the VBAC and do most of your laboring at home. Take it easy and enjoy your new addition

Congrats. She's cute as a button.

Hmmm, hospitals must all buy their receiving blankets in bulk from the same manufacturer. Same blanket they used for my son clear on the other side of the states.

Red face vba2c in san antonio

Hi GreatBigMonsterMomma,
I read your story and I would give anything to feel the way you did after giving birth. I only wish my vbac was successful but I ended up having another c-section. And when my ob was about to cut me open he told me that this was it no more TOL, because I now have two c-sections. It broke my heart to know that I had a failed vbac and now my husband says that he doesn't want anymore babies because he does not want to see me go through the pain again. And I am not done with having children I really do want more but I can't see myself going through another c-section.

I would really love to know who was your doctor that supported you with your vba2c and what hospital you delivered at. I am from San Antonio, tx too, and I know that it is hard over here to find a doctor who will let me try a TOL again with my third. I am currently not pregnant but I want to start doing research and interview doctors who will really help me this time. I believe my doctor intensions was to always have a c-section even though he told me that he will let me have a vbac. He didn't seem to try hard enough to make this happen for me when the time came when I was in the hospital. Even though I did labour for 16 hours and stayed at 6cm for a while. I do blame myself a little, because I got the epidural and they broke my water and I didn't speak up about that. So if anyone could help me out there or have any good advice please send it my way. Thank you so much.
