C-Sections

I am new to this forum and I hope im navigating correctly...haha (was trying to respond to someones post about being afraid of c-sections) I had a c-sec with my first child 8 years ago. Was a scary experience at first, only because I laid in labor for 23 hours and in 5 minutes they decided I needed a c-section. Decision was made at 330 am..and Dylan was born at 358 am. I was very sore for the first day, but after they had me get up and start walking it eased the pain some. As far as scarring, my scar is practically invisible. When I went for my first OB appt on july 5th (did i mention that im pregnant?) The doctor had to REALLY look close to see it. The "pouch" that was mentioned isnt necessarily true either. The only pouch that I have that I cant get rid of is the one I put there by having a love affair with FOOD! hahaha. Im glad I found this forum and look forward to talking with all of you!

I have a question concerning ultrasounds. Can the sex of a baby be seen at around 4 months? By the time I have my ultrasound I will be around 4 months, give or take. Reason for the ultrasound is to determine the gestational age/due date. Is there anyone who can answer this for me? It's been a long time since my last pregnancy and I don't remember if the sex can be seen at this age. Thanks for any info that can be given.

I do a twin board on babycenter where everyone gets really frequent ultrasounds. I have read of people getting guesses as early as 12 weeks, but that is using awesome ultrasound machines. On a regular ultrasound I have heard you can tell around 16 weeks on, but it is easier to tell at the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th week. Most people go for the big ultrasound to check gender and organs around 20 weeks. It is very possible!

Thank you so much for the info. Like I said, it's been a while since I was pregnant and couldn't remember about the ultrasounds. I'm just really curious to know what I'm having so that my husband will stop bugging me.

With a standard 2D ultrasound like the doctor's office uses, the results are most *accurate* if done at 20 weeks or after. You may get a result at your 16 week/4 month one that is determining your due date, etc...but I wouldn't buy a lot of pink or blue until your 20 week diagnostic ultrasound. :)

Back here again

Hi ladies. Dh and I found out this week that we're expecting another baby in May. We have a 9 month old DD, Emilia. I posted on this board while I was pg and nursing her, and now I'm back again. I did very well with weight gain for the first pg and hope to do so again. This time I'm going to try a little harder to stay consistant with my exercse in hopes that it helps my energy levels and future backache. We're very excited and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Congratulations Donna!!!!!

Congrats Donna!
Dawn- I am dying to read your other thread.

I had my 12 week level 2 ultrasound today. It was amazing. It was transabdominal and I didn't even have to have a full bladder. Too bad all my ultrasounds were not on this machine! Anyway, they measured on time and were sucking their thumbs :bb: :bb: The perinatologist said that baby A will end up on my left and B on the right. I learned baby A is the one that starts closest to the mom's cervix. Anyway, she said they are definitely fraternal due to the deep separation. She gave me a 0.3percent chance of fetal death between now and 16 weeks, so that is a good statistic. She said with twins being heavy in my family and the positioning/similarity in size of the babies and sacs that this would be a very healthy pregnancy as far as twins go. Also she told me I will know the sex at the next level 2 US at 16 weeks! Heartrates were 173 and 162.

Hello Donna, congratulations!
Congrats DairyFairy too, on a great u/s. Sounds like everything is on track! How are both feeling? I am 33 weeks now and doing pretty well aside from my excessive weight gain, swelling feet, and general feeling of heaviness. :)

15 weeks here, new member........I'm excited for the 20 wk US just around the corner!! If it's a boy we're going with Nicholas and for a girl we love Emily. We're still trying to choose middle names.

Glad to hear everyone else is also doing well

Dairy Fairy 09-12-2006 12:01 PM

Sara, you are getting so close!

babymomma, we are getting our gender ultrasound in a week and a half. I am so excited! This second pregnancy has flown by, which is weird because you'd think my life would seem slower now that I stay at home.

I never cared what I had before (sex wise with babies), but something about boy/girl sounds so perfect. I'll love whatever. God knows better than I do, anyway. Just hoping that's what He thinks I need ;)

Hey Dairy, congrats on the twins!! This is my first and everyone - my SO, my mom, my sister, friends, everyone wants me to have a boy!

I'd love a boy, I'm keen on it but of course I'll be happy either way. Keep us updated!

Hanging in there at 36 weeks. I am not ready for this baby to come yet, but right now I SO wish I could be done with work...

Amy8888 09-14-2006 01:58 PM

Hi everyone! I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second baby (the first was born in January!) I feel like I'm always pregnant. I didn't lose the baby weight between pregnancies so I'm extra concerned this time around about excessive weight gain. But I also feel like I have no energy at all and I'm still working full time so even trying to work walking in is a struggle. I've sort of figured I'll get seriousl about fitness once #2 comes, but I know I should be more proactive than that. Who knows, now that it's fall and I'm in the second trimester I'll be more motivated.

SnowboundChick 09-15-2006 11:49 PM

Well, I'm hanging in there. I'm tired all the time so they are checking my iron levels and I have go to remember to take my prenatal vitamins. I've also gained 6lb in 3 weeks since my last appointment so I have to go back in a week to check my proteins, and blood pressure. I weighed right after lunch and I had salty chips the day before and not enough water, so I'm guessing that is why.

My blood sugars are still really great. I did have my ultrasound on Aug 24, the baby was measuring small but they also couldn't get good readings on the baby's anatomy. Would that be because I have to much fat around me middle, I do. I go back on Oct 4 for another one.

We saw the baby dancing around but I haven't felt the baby yet, sometimes I think I do but am not sure. It's really weird because I felt both my boys around 15 or 16 weeks. But the baby's heartbeat is still there as well, so I don't know what the acase is these days. It is a little worrisome.

But everything else seems good for the most part I guess. Just in a funk lately and busy with the two boys and hubby.

We saw the baby moving.
