I've heard the same thing, and I know I certainly didn't lost very much weight after birthing a 9.5 lbs baby & "accessories"! I've heard that it can be from the IV fluids, but I've never had an IV during labor and still never lost that much.

I did get on the scale already and it wasn't a pretty sight! (The little Mii on my Wii Fit plumped right back up from "normal" to "obese".) DS2 is only 6 days old, so I should have waited another week or two. :o

I had my last child at a birth center without IV's and I saw zero change in my weight. If anything I think I gained 5 lbs more. It took 2 months for me to see any weight loss.
I've been using the Wii Fit to weigh myself. Its sad to see my Mii getting depressed that she's now in the obese section again. :( LOL
If only you could program it to let her know that its due to pregnancy.

I usually wait at least a week before weighing in but I have lost 30 pounds in the first week before, after an initial full body swelling. It seems like if I could just keep up that rate I'd be in my skinny jeans in three weeks! lolol but after that I have to work my butt off to lose the 60. (I gain a lot...but hoping not to this time since I started heavier.)

Wow, I've missed a lot.

Congratulations on all the new babies and positive tests!

Gale~ I wonder if the fires where you are, are the reason it's been somewhat hazy up here? I want monsoon season to start already! Bring on the rain to clear up the air. I hope you get your asthma cleared up soon.

I've been sewing baby stuff like crazy. I made my first quilt and have made a few receiving blankets and burp cloth sets. I've also started sewing fleece soakers, since we are doing cloth. I don't usually sew so much. Maybe I'm starting to nest a bit?

My sister only had 10 lbs to lose one week after my niece was born (lucky!) I'm not counting on that, at all. We don't own a scale right now, so I imagine I won't weigh in until my 6 week post birth check-up.

Definitely sounds like nesting to me! My nesting never really kicked in, and I never even finished up the longies I was knitting, never washed and lanolized my other wool. Well, at least now that he's born (we didn't find out the sex, no ultrasounds) I know to not put a girly edge on them! ;)

Zenor how fun! I bought new prefolds (my old ones are getting too rough and pilly) and tie dyed them all. They turned out so cute.

I need to cut out some more fleece liners too. They are fabulous for the meconium days...I actually just throw the first few out with the meconium on it.

The leftover orange fleece I used for liners has been turned into a cape by the kids and I'm wondering if it will effect the cape if I cut off a strip for my liners. LOL!

Kestrel, Have you tried making the covers from old wool sweaters? I bought a bunch of sweaters from goodwill but haven't made a cover yet. I've knitted soakers in the past and it takes me forever to knit. I am super slow at knitting.

when do the weekly prenatal visits kick in?

jahjah1223 06-23-2010 11:31 AM

at 36 weeks! lol

i already miss being pregnant.... LOL

I love the tie-dyed prefolds!!! Those are awesome! I'm waiting to see if I get prefolds at my shower before buying any. Where do you get yours? I'm trying to decide between Green Mountain, Indian or Chinese prefolds. Too many choices and I'm new to it all.

I'm stealing the fleece liner idea too.

I'm planning on getting some old sweaters to make wool soakers out of too. I just haven't made it out to any of the thrift shops lately. I can knit, but I prefer to crochet. I have a crochet pattern, but I have other projects that are more appealing right now. I think sewing them will be quicker.

I have one more monthly visit and then I go every two weeks. This is going by really fast!

Everyone have a great weekend!

I bought 2 dozen each of the orange edge and the yellow edged prefolds from Green mountain. All the moms on my cloth diaper forum have been raving about the orange edge ones and how much nicer they fit on a newborn. I wouldn't have bought so soon but I was having a tie dye party and was ordering some maternity shirts online so thought it would be fun to do some diapers at the same time. :)

eta...I also went with thirsties duo covers. They should last all the way up to 18 pounds since they snap down to a small and open up to mediums. I saw them in action and they are nice covers!
