Wow, we are WAY behind on getting this thread started this month ladies! I chalk it up to pregnancy brain. :)

I hope everyone is doing well! Can't wait to hear if Sacha had her little one!!

GirlyGirl 06-10-2010 06:07 PM

Thank u :D

Alex was born on June 8, 9lb 3oz :o

I will be back in a while, he was too big for me so they had to break his clavicle to get him out, so we are struggling with feeding. I am exhausted, but in love.

Here is a picture

Gale02 06-12-2010 01:45 PM

Congratulations Sacha! He's just beautiful. So sorry they had to break his collarbone, I hope it heals quickly.

Arctic Mama 06-12-2010 03:44 PM

Congratulations Sacha! He's lovely!

sacha 06-13-2010 07:27 PM

Thanks everyone! Illl be around but this is #1 so I'm still trying to manage things and find some time, haha

skinnybeach 06-13-2010 09:36 PM

I'm 20w4d today. Had my anatomy scan on Friday and he's still a boy! A healthy one thus far and he's been kicking me all day!! :)

mom4life 06-14-2010 11:20 AM

skinnybeach, that's awesome. :)

kestrel 06-14-2010 01:57 PM

Congrats Sacha!

Still just hanging out here. And not answering the phone. ;)

Arctic Mama 06-14-2010 04:29 PM

Good idea, Kestrel. I just tell people I WILL let them know when the baby comes and not to pester me before then, and I am intimidating enough, apparently, that people actually listen when I threaten them like that

hahaha that's a great idea. I think I'll be doing the same if I hit my due date.

kestrel 06-15-2010 11:33 AM

:carrot: Woo hoo!

New baby boy, Ian Grainger. 9 lb 8 oz, 21.5"

Unassisted homebirth following a whopping 24 minutes of labor.

1st contraction: 4:15 am (a "hmmm, was that maybe a contraction?")
baby born: 4:39 am (1 push, baby flying out into tub)

What a wild ride!

mom4life 06-16-2010 01:26 PM

WOOHOO!!! Congratulations!!! Kestrel! What a big boy, I bet he's adorable. I wish my labors were that fast. Awesome.

mom4life 06-16-2010 01:31 PM

Spent a lovely weekend battling chigger bites. Thank goodness the itching is starting to die down. I found out that vinegar can give some relief but was thrilled when my midwife okay'ed Benadryl, I took it this weekend and I think I can manage on my own now.
I think I was bothering the baby every time I had to scratch my tummy. LOL

famograham 06-16-2010 01:59 PM

I guess I should poke my head in over here! I never thought I'd get the chance!
My 3fc home is the 100 pound club. My name is Linda and I'm 8 weeks 2 days.
This is a BIG surprise for us...our kids are 12 and almost 9!!! Good thing we started very early, or I'd feel WAY old! I'm 32, so that's not too bad, is it?

For years I have wanted just one more, but hubby was so officially done...well, surprise!!! Totally unplanned, but I'm very, VERY excited, nervous etc. And hubby is adjusting

Just wanted to say Hi, and introduce myself over here

Linda

mom4life 06-16-2010 03:14 PM

famograham, Congratulations!!!
Same here, my oldest was 11 when dh and I married. He was totally content with our little family, being that my oldest was at an age that we didn't need babysitting. Then came the surprise of our lives...but very welcomed, when we found out I was pregnant. My oldest was 14 when ds1 was born, I was 29. Now my kids are: 20, 5, 3, 1, and our last is due next month.
Wishing you a happy pregnancy and healthy baby. :)

Gale02 06-17-2010 11:44 AM

:congrat: Kestrel!! Sounds like your labor and birth were awesome. I'm so glad you were already planning for a home birth, sounds like it would have been one anyhow. :)

Congratulations and welcome to the pregnancy boards Linda!

Gale02 06-17-2010 11:50 AM

I had another checkup with the perinatal doctor yesterday. Baby looks really, really good. A pretty big boy, 15 inches long and 2lbs, 14 oz right now. They're really pleased with how everything looks. Still pretty concerned about my asthma not being under control. Upped one of my medications and are thinking if that doesn't work they'll have to put me on another. *sigh* Whatever I gotta do, I suppose.

My 28 week blood work (including glucose test) came back beautiful, no worries at all. The Dr said that since everything looks good there my weight isn't a concern, it's just trying to control my asthma at this point that they're working on. The fires in the mountains around me certainly aren't helping things in that department! Smoke is bad news for asthma. :(

kestrel 06-17-2010 01:11 PM

Congrats Linda, and welcome!

Gale02 - I'm glad your little guy is doing well! I hope you can get your asthma under control and that the fires around you don't make it too much worse.

I'm still hanging out upstairs, spending the days in bed with my new little one. My milk came in last night, so for a day or so my boobs will stick out farther than the post-partum belly. Mother Nature's little temporary gift to new moms. ;) I still haven't stepped on a scale yet (not since my last WW weigh-in the morning I got my BFP), I'm thinking maybe tomorrow. Or the next day. Or maybe a few more days...

Arctic Mama 06-18-2010 02:23 AM

Congratulations on your son! I'm jealous - my labors take DAYS of contractions and long pushing, too! I love home births and wish I hadn't been disqualified from one by state law. Unassisted, too, you're an amazing mama!

Arctic Mama 06-18-2010 02:27 AM

Welcome Linda! I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly for you :)

Yay on the good blood work, Gale. That's great news that you're not having to contend with glucose issues. Sorry your asthma is giving you trouble, though :(

jahjah1223 06-20-2010 12:18 PM

I weighed myself after having my son and i only lost 4 pounds... I was like WTF!! lol i know im still swollen and what not but come on my son weighed more than that!

CoolMom75 06-20-2010 04:09 PM

COngratulations on the new babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still so long for me! Been doing my own prenatals so far and did a little check up this morning. lol BP was good, weight is up a few and baby's heartrate is 156. All is good!

and I'm still hitting the gym class 4-5 days a week. go me! haha

Arctic Mama 06-20-2010 06:33 PM

Oh Jahjah, give it a few weeks! You'll lose that excess weight, but if they had you hooked up to an IV expect a good ten pounds of additional fluid in you right after the fact, plus water retention in all your muscles from the physical effects of birth.

Great job on working our, Zoe!

mom4life 06-21-2010 07:28 AM

Jahjah, yeah try not to worry about it. from everything I've read from the moms here it sounds like you'll gain 10 lbs after birth due to water weight gain. Try weighing-in in 2 weeks. ((hugs))

What causes this, any idea?

mom4life 06-21-2010 12:42 PM

I have no clue, but I've noticed almost everyone mention that they barely lost anything. This after knowing full well that you've had a baby and birthed a placenta and lost amniotic fluid....all should total 30 lbs. So why you end up only losing 6 lbs is saddening. LOL
I just know I'm going to try to avoid the scale for 2-3 weeks after I have the baby.

kestrel 06-21-2010 12:54 PM

I've heard the same thing, and I know I certainly didn't lost very much weight after birthing a 9.5 lbs baby & "accessories"! I've heard that it can be from the IV fluids, but I've never had an IV during labor and still never lost that much.

I did get on the scale already and it wasn't a pretty sight! (The little Mii on my Wii Fit plumped right back up from "normal" to "obese".) DS2 is only 6 days old, so I should have waited another week or two. :o

mom4life 06-21-2010 01:51 PM

I had my last child at a birth center without IV's and I saw zero change in my weight. If anything I think I gained 5 lbs more. It took 2 months for me to see any weight loss.
I've been using the Wii Fit to weigh myself. Its sad to see my Mii getting depressed that she's now in the obese section again. :( LOL
If only you could program it to let her know that its due to pregnancy.

CoolMom75 06-21-2010 04:51 PM

I usually wait at least a week before weighing in but I have lost 30 pounds in the first week before, after an initial full body swelling. It seems like if I could just keep up that rate I'd be in my skinny jeans in three weeks! lolol but after that I have to work my butt off to lose the 60. (I gain a lot...but hoping not to this time since I started heavier.)

zenor77 06-22-2010 02:46 PM

Wow, I've missed a lot.

Congratulations on all the new babies and positive tests!

Gale~ I wonder if the fires where you are, are the reason it's been somewhat hazy up here? I want monsoon season to start already! Bring on the rain to clear up the air. I hope you get your asthma cleared up soon.

I've been sewing baby stuff like crazy. I made my first quilt and have made a few receiving blankets and burp cloth sets. I've also started sewing fleece soakers, since we are doing cloth. I don't usually sew so much. Maybe I'm starting to nest a bit?

My sister only had 10 lbs to lose one week after my niece was born (lucky!) I'm not counting on that, at all. We don't own a scale right now, so I imagine I won't weigh in until my 6 week post birth check-up.

kestrel 06-22-2010 02:52 PM

Definitely sounds like nesting to me! My nesting never really kicked in, and I never even finished up the longies I was knitting, never washed and lanolized my other wool. Well, at least now that he's born (we didn't find out the sex, no ultrasounds) I know to not put a girly edge on them! ;)

CoolMom75 06-22-2010 03:34 PM

Zenor how fun! I bought new prefolds (my old ones are getting too rough and pilly) and tie dyed them all. They turned out so cute.

http://royalmom.com/DSC_0012web-5.jpg

I need to cut out some more fleece liners too. They are fabulous for the meconium days...I actually just throw the first few out with the meconium on it.

The leftover orange fleece I used for liners has been turned into a cape by the kids and I'm wondering if it will effect the cape if I cut off a strip for my liners. LOL!

Kestrel, Have you tried making the covers from old wool sweaters? I bought a bunch of sweaters from goodwill but haven't made a cover yet. I've knitted soakers in the past and it takes me forever to knit. I am super slow at knitting.

mom4life 06-22-2010 08:49 PM

when do the weekly prenatal visits kick in?

jahjah1223 06-23-2010 11:31 AM

at 36 weeks! lol

i already miss being pregnant.... LOL

zenor77 06-25-2010 02:30 PM

I love the tie-dyed prefolds!!! Those are awesome! I'm waiting to see if I get prefolds at my shower before buying any. Where do you get yours? I'm trying to decide between Green Mountain, Indian or Chinese prefolds. Too many choices and I'm new to it all.

I'm stealing the fleece liner idea too.

I'm planning on getting some old sweaters to make wool soakers out of too. I just haven't made it out to any of the thrift shops lately. I can knit, but I prefer to crochet. I have a crochet pattern, but I have other projects that are more appealing right now. I think sewing them will be quicker.

I have one more monthly visit and then I go every two weeks. This is going by really fast!

Everyone have a great weekend!

CoolMom75 06-25-2010 06:40 PM

I bought 2 dozen each of the orange edge and the yellow edged prefolds from Green mountain. All the moms on my cloth diaper forum have been raving about the orange edge ones and how much nicer they fit on a newborn. I wouldn't have bought so soon but I was having a tie dye party and was ordering some maternity shirts online so thought it would be fun to do some diapers at the same time. :)

eta...I also went with thirsties duo covers. They should last all the way up to 18 pounds since they snap down to a small and open up to mediums. I saw them in action and they are nice covers!
