We just got home not long ago and it's a boy!!! Definitely going to save us $$ on clothes! :D

Tiffrutherf 07-18-2009 10:05 AM

Congrats!! Megan. Anyone else know what they are having? I went in for my U/S and the tech said she was 51% sure i was having a girl..What? 51%?

eeyoredja 07-18-2009 03:00 PM

Ours is definately all boy, lol. We found out at 15 weeks, which is way early, but I had my cerclage put in the week before, so as I was having the u/s to check the stitches, the nurse at my perinatologists office asked if we wanted to know what the baby was, and I told her of course, lol. There was no mistaking it was a boy, and he proudly shows it off every week at my u/s!

Hugs,
Donna

Hi everyone ...
Well I am having a surprice baby, I can't wait .

eeyoredja 07-19-2009 08:25 PM

I had a great shower, got tons of stuff, and am so exhausted!! I still have quite a bit of family that didn't make it that are stopping by this week, so I know we will get lots more stuff for little Toby, lol. I love showers!

Ok, so remember I was saying my 2 kids were being A LOT of trouble this summer. Well I got the 8 year old enrolled in summer school. Today I put him on the bus and broke down like a baby in front of everyone!! Now i miss him so much! Ahh pregnancy hormones!

4myloves 07-20-2009 09:38 AM

My pink/blue u/s is Wednesday. I'm hoping for a little boy, since I still have all of Jake's hand-me-downs! Of course, I'll be tickled if I'm having a girl, too--although then I'll have to get used to the "Oh, now you have a COMPLETE family" remarks. (I've actually already been hearing that from some people!!)

Why do people think that 2 kids is the limit these days?

Tuca125 07-20-2009 12:03 PM

I am so happy .... tomorrow is my 30 weeks mark...... 10 to go.

Well I hope some in my family is planing a Shower for me.I got two showers whit my last two pregnancys.... so lets hope for two.

How has names ready.
My are for girl Mia Mickaela and for boy Tristan Devine

4myloves 07-20-2009 05:06 PM

I thought you weren't supposed to get showers with babies after the first one?

Tiffrutherf 07-21-2009 12:55 AM

4myself: I heard that also, but you can have a second shower if-- the second baby is a different sex, or the baby's are far apart in age like more then 4 years, your having twins or if its for sure your last one.

However I feel its ok to have showers for every baby you have if you chose, there is no set rule...Now if your having 7 kids back to back and a shower for each one, you may find that people are a little "ify"... but hay I say send out the invitations anyways!

MeganBeth 07-21-2009 01:01 AM

I've decided that i don't want a "shower" but would rather have a welcoming party. Gifts optional, just a bbq and cake, no real shower games. Though I'm going to get in on an american apparel co-op and buy a bunch of white lap tees and then get some fabric markers and have family decorate tshirts for the new bean and DS.

eeyoredja 07-21-2009 08:24 AM

For my SIL's first, we did a big shower...for her second, we did a "sprinkle", where everyone pretty much got her diapers and wipes and bath stuff and bottles...the stuff you really need.

Hugs,
Donna

Hey everyone!
It looks like a new round of pregos is rolling in! I must be bringing up the rear at 33 weeks! Things with the pregnancy have been going great! Weight gain has been decent...14 lbs. We had our 4D u/s at 32 weeks, I am attaching a few pictures of our sweet lil guy! I can't believe how much you can see! He looks just like his daddy!

This is our first, plus the first grandchil and great grandchild, so my mom is going ALL out with the baby shower!

blueyedlvrgirl- I don't mean to be a threadcrasher as I am not expecting.... HOWEVER, can I just say that the 4d pics you posted are amazing?!?! I am TTC and occasionally take a peek n here! I am just in awe of this new type of ultrasound. How awesome!

Tiffrutherf 07-21-2009 06:55 PM

Cool picks!! WOW..I have a question...We are all kinda do at the end of summer into Nov right? Well I was talking to my Mother-in-law about the holidays and honestly I'm kinda worried about taking a new born out during flu, RSV and cold season especially around kids and large groups of people and the baby will be too young to be vaccinated:rolleyes:..I'm due 22 of Nov. so he/she will be MAYBE 6 weeks old around the holidays (Thanksgiving is out:turkey::nono:)..has anyone thought of this? What will you be choosing to do? We have over 5 houses to visit as we was a BIG family...

MeganBeth 07-21-2009 08:10 PM

Well for us that's easy. We aren't vaxing at all until our LO's are ready to start school. We gave DS Some of his vax's before stopping but this LO won't have any.

I'm mean, no one can hold the baby w/o washing their hands and I've got no problem telling my family no, We just do lots of hand washing and any other preventative measures we can.

Gale02 07-22-2009 09:14 AM

My son was born on November 21st last year. Like you said, he was too little for his first round of vaccines by the holidays, but we were just very careful. We didn't take him anywhere with crowds for the first 5 weeks (as per Dr's orders). After that, we didn't let many people hold him and those that did either washed their hands first or used anti-bac gel (that I carried with me.) People usually understand when you tell them no, especially if you explain that it's RSV season. When we started going back to church and things like that I just kept him in his infant carrier, that way no one would be able to pick him up!

You won't be able to protect them from everything, and sometimes you just have to let go a little. It was scary for me the first time I put my son in the nursery at church, and he did get sick (ear infection & cold), but it wasn't the end of the world. My fears were definitely worse than the real thing.

MeganBeth 07-22-2009 11:27 AM

I'm seriously :?: right now. My DS has had what I thought was heat rash for 3 days now. I'm starting to wonder if it's 5ths disease. his cheeks are red but he doesn't really have the lacy rash over his body just heat rash looking. UGH

jasmine987 07-22-2009 12:45 PM

has anyone held a needle over their wrist to see what the sex will be? is it called dowsing? from what I understand if the needle moves in a circular motion its a girl and if it moves back and forth its a boy.
has anyone done this? and was it accurate?

MeganBeth 07-22-2009 12:46 PM

Ours would do both. Circle and back and forth and I'm having a boy! Though we used my wedding ring on a strand of hair.

4myloves 07-23-2009 10:32 AM

Found out yesterday that I'll need to do a lot of clothes shopping! No hand-me-downs will work for this baby!!

Now I've got a lot of little boy's clothing to consign or give away!

Gale02 07-23-2009 10:37 AM

How fun 4myself! Enjoy shopping for all of those little frilly dresses! :)

Thanks Heather! I can't believe how much detail you can see! When you hold up the pics to daddy's baby pics, you can TOTALLY see the resemblance! I am thoroughly amazed as well, which is why I shared!

I don't think anyone would call you a thread crasher! Good luck TTC!

Tiffrutherf 07-23-2009 09:33 PM

Hay everyone! hows it going. its was 60 degrees here today!! OMG people keep telling I'm so lucky to be pregnant during this cool summer...but I still have to get threw August! Hows everyone else holding up?

Tiffrutherf 07-23-2009 09:37 PM

Ps. anyone know what "cord banking" is about? Has anyone done it or thinking about it?

MeganBeth 07-23-2009 09:38 PM

It's been so freaking hot here it kills me! Today and yesterday were alright only around 60-70 and pretty nice but we're supposed ot be up in the 90's by like tuesday :o

I had my mwappt today and I'm so happy I don't have to drink that disgusting glucose drink! She gave me the option of having pancakes syrup, and juice or 32 jelly beans, OR drinking the drink... i'll take the jelly beans thanks!

Tuca125 07-23-2009 11:05 PM

Hi ladies .. well I did my glucose test and came back high, now i did the 2 hours .... i hope everithing is ok.

Tiffrutherf 07-24-2009 12:56 AM

My test came back high in the first 15 weeks. At first i was bummed but I've been managing my diabetes since and I have to admit this is one of my healthiest pregnancy. Ive only gained but 2 pounds because I had to start eating right. It sucked at first, trust me, but it is benefiting me in the end..I do miss eating what I want when I want, but i look at it like Im training myself to eat better so I dont have so much baby weight to lose after this. I'm trying to see the positive in all this!

Ummmmm.....Jelly beans.........why can't everyone do that? Sounds much better than that disgusting juice! There was a lady at my last docs appt. drinking the juice--just the look on her face brought back memories! Ewww. :p

With Jake, my 1st test came back high, so I had to go back for the two-hour test. It came back normal, but then when Jake was born, his peditrician wanted to know why I hadn't been monotoring (sp?) or controlling my GD better. I told him I'd never been diagnosed with GD--the 2nd test came back normal. Jake's sugar was high for the first couple of days, but then went to normal, thank goodness!

MeganBeth 07-24-2009 12:55 PM

I think it might be a difference between a Midwife and an OB. I guess some MW's do the drink as well but she gave me the option and I sure as heck was NOT drinking that drink again lol.

Tiffrutherf 07-25-2009 10:44 AM

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing..I went for my blood work yesterday. I had to do the triple screen as I am 35...I think i did it kinda late as I am past 22 weeks. Anyways they kept saying "If you want to terminate the pregnancy this will help you decided"...I think that's why i hesitated to take the test because it would not matter ether way, whatever God gives me, I'll deal..I have so far. But I guess its good to be prepared.

Gale02 07-25-2009 11:31 AM

Tiff - that's why I never had 1st tri genetic screening done. The only purpose of it is for abortion and that will never be an option. I did get the second tri done, but it was so that if the baby did have Downs or something else we could be researched and prepared when he arrived. I don't know yet whether I'll get it done again, there are up sides and down sides to both.

My mom had to have amniocentesis with both my brother and sister since she was over 35 with both of them. I hope I don't ever have to get that done! With my little brother, the Dr let go of the syringe and said "look!"... it was moving back and forth. My little brother was kicking the needle inside her.

MeganBeth 07-25-2009 12:07 PM

No tri screen here. My MW said there was no need if we had no plans on ever terminating a pregnancy.

And I'll never have an amnio done either. *Shudder* First I hate needles and the chance of miscarriage is too much for me to handle. :barf:

Tiffrutherf 07-25-2009 05:51 PM

Gale- you right on that one, I did it so that if there is something there i could be prepared and my family (grandparents ect) would be prepared, not to terminate. I remember when my daughter was born and the room got all quiet because she was not breathing well. It shocked us all to see her go to the NICU..and knowing that I could have had a amno done that would have told us her lungs were not ready (I had a planned C-section) was even harder to deal with.
..so your right, I think its good to know just so you aren't blind sided..

I did have and amno done; they are not bad at all, they numb the area so you don't feel the needle but i had it towards the very end, i had to have fluid removed..but I was scared trust me...I have learned: Never say never to anything cuz you don't know what you might have to do for your baby!

However whatever the test comes back with, if i still can get a read, I'm all good. I have to have a stage 2 ultra sound..I opted for this because I am a diabetic and want to make sure baby is growing correctly and that I'm controlling my sugars well. On my first one everything looked fine!

MeganBeth 07-29-2009 11:37 AM

oh mah gawd HOT. We don't usually get above 90 all summer and even 90 is an oddity. It was 104 yesterday and at 8 am it's was already 70. I'm DYING...

4myloves 07-29-2009 03:34 PM

MeganBeth, what the heck is up with that? Do y'all have humidity with your heat like we do? If it were 104 here, chances are the heat index would be closer to 115!

MeganBeth 07-30-2009 12:05 PM

I think the humidity was around 24 yesterday...not that i have any clue WHAT that means lol the temp was106 with a 'real feel' of 110. It's supposed to cool down tomorrow but we're going to the beach anyways.

Yesterday was the first time ever recorded that Seattle has broken the record heat of 100 on the water front which was set in 1891. It was 103 there.

ETA: At the moment (9 am) its 71 degrees with 61% humidity. shoot me lol

Gale02 07-30-2009 01:47 PM

One thing I must say is that although temps over 100 are very common during the summer here we have no humidity. 15% is a really humid day for us. It makes the heat easier to bear. I'm feeling for you Megan!
