Hello! Thought I'd welcome us all to October! Still hanging around...still pregnant. Ready to deliver. OB asked about induction. NOOOO WAY!!! I have heard such horror stories about inductions. Haven't needed to be induced thus far, just praying that my patience will be augmented. I am soo ready to deliver!!!

Hey ladies! So I've gained 7-8 pounds now. I'm a little upset, since I know the reason for the gain is because I've been eating too much I had to travel twice since becoming pregnant, and traveling and I do NOT mix as far as staying on track. The first time I gained 3 pounds, this last time the same. My pants are tight, and I already bought maternity clothes. Is that horribly to be doing that already?! They are so comfy though. I don't wear them all the time. Right now my pants are unbuttoned and I have a band on. I feel fat! I don't like it. At least I only feel like my tummy is fat and not everything else. Well maybe my chest too I already went from medium to large shirts, and from 8's and 10's to 10's and 12's in pants. Today I'm wearing an oversized fleece to cover my very tiny bump since I have about 2 more weeks before I announce anything (after my next ultrasound).

I have my first meeting tomorrow with the Maternal Fetal Specialist (high risk OB). Wish me luck. I'm hoping that she will tell me my regular OB can follow me through the pregnancy!

almsthere - I've heard horrible things about induction as well. Good luck! I hope you are able to deliver without it

I'm lurking (no longer pregnant -- Henry was born Aug 7) but I just have to say... I heard all those horror stories about induction too, but I had a good experience with it. It's not the most "natural" way to do things, obviously, but if you're the kind of person who plans on getting an epidural, you'll be fine. I went in at 7:00am and was hooked to an IV and external fetal monitor, then my water was broken by the OB at 8:00am (this was the worst part for me in terms of pain) and I was put on a pitocin drip. I dealt with increasingly painful contractions for 2 hours until getting an epidural and then it was mostly smooth sailing. My only problem after that was that my baby got stuck behind my pubic bone and I had to have a small episiotomy after an hour and a half of pushing. That was completely related to my anatomy, though, not the induction.

The scary thing about inductions is that Pitocin causes stronger contractions that get strong more quickly, but if you're ok with an epidural that doesn't really matter. I'm sure other scary things can happen, but scary things can happen with any childbirth choice. People tend to forget that!

This sounds like so much of a downer but... I can't wait until I start showing that I can start feeling pregnant and not just "fat"!

My vote is against induction!! I bled for 6 months after my first.. nodody could figure out why and never did, nearly had a hysterectomy at 19. It so happens I was induced!!! Now that may have happened whether or not I got induced. But my choice would be to not get induced, but I would follow recommendations of your doctor. YAY for babies!

We're in the process of moving...which we did when I was pg with my first as well (why, oh why). At least I'm not as far along this time!

I've been feeling really great - aside from random sciatica. I asked my PT friend for some advice and she showed me a bunch of stretches that my husband and I can do together. It really has been helping.

No major swelling unless I'm on my feet a lot the previous day.

I finally got everything in order and scheduled a doctors appointment a week ago. (Yes, finally!) It's on October 28th (earliest they could do.. sigh) but at least it's all set and I'm ready!

Though I'm feeling a little under the weather. I think it's because the tempature has been flucuating outside and it's snowing here. Hopeing that's it anyway..

Pixie - under the weather meaning feeling sick or feeling depressed? A change of seasons and temperature always does that to me when I'm pg...also, you're still rather newly pregnant and adapting to those hormones is a b*tch

Ugh...I need to get to the doctor again....he is going to be so upset with me.
I hate going to see my doctor. Every time I've been, it's the same thing - pee in a cup, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, get into get blood pressure and weight checked, wait wait wait wait, finally get to go into "secondary" waiting room, wait for doctor, wait more, wait even more, toddler starts going nuts and playing with every cotton ball and swab in the place, wait more...finally doctor comes, ask how you're feeling, measure belly, done. On average, I wait between an hour and an hour and a half to see the doctor for 2 minutes.

I could definitely just drop a pee sample and my blood pressure/weight with a nurse and get on the road...but NO. He wants to see how I'm doing...

ugh. I've been through this before...I'll call if I have any problems!

Also, I signed up for a breastfeeding refresher course at the hospital. Unfortunately it is 2 days after we get finished moving and my babysitter is going to be out of town. I wanted DH to come with me to the class, but it looks like he might have to stay home.

Well I had actually drank some apple juice and it made my stomach upset a bit. The following day I had chili and boy was it spicy.. I tossed it up shortly after. It's taken a little over a day for my stomach to feel "normal" again. That and I haven't had a day off from work since Monday and that was my first since the previous Sunday. I'm pooped! But haha you're right about those hormones

A couple times I've gone from happy to upset in two seconds flat *shakes head*

OK I have seriously been gaining too much weight. My thighs feel fat. My size 10's are starting to get tight around my legs. It needs to stop! I think the problem was that I would gag whenever I even THOUGHT about eating vegetables for quite a few weeks there. Well my nausea is almost pretty much gone so I cut up a pepper and some carrots today for snacks and I didn't get sick to my stomach when I was cutting them up so I think I will be OK to eat them. I'm also going to buy salad veggies tonight (woohoo) and start eating healthier and more balanced meals. I'm hoping that I can just maintain where I am for a few weeks at least. I don't want to lose the weight, just want to sort of "even out" the gaining. I don't mind gaining weight for the baby, but I want it to be healthy!

zeffryn - Are you moving very far, or just to a new place? So far all of the visits to my OB office have been good, not much waiting (as far as when I go for the doctor). Now, when I had my u/s, it ended up being 1.5 hours late. REALLY?!?! How can a u/s tech be THAT backed up? I was furious! Especially since DH was with me and he had a doctor's appointment that he ended up calling and canceling so he could be there for the u/s.

pixie - Have you had an u/s yet? I feel so lucky to have not vomited at all with this pregnancy. But then again, its probably why I've put on 8-9 pounds alread!

Nope.. hoping I can have one on my doctor's appoinment (I'll be 17 weeks then so maybe I can find out the sex of the baby) . That was the only time I've vomited during this pregnancy (thankfully). I've felt pretty "normal" since after the 11th week.

I was induced with 3 of my four children; the only thing was with the induction is that the pitocin makes the contractions come quicker then harder than the natural way..

other than that I had no issues..please don't have a fear of it, you will be fine!!!

Good morning ladies Well I thought I was over the morning sickness - I was wrong! I felt really nauseous for the past few days. To top it off, DH has been finishing painting the kitchen and the smell of the paint makes me feel like I want to vomit! He says he can't even smell it and he doesn't understand why I'm so sensitive to the smell. My reply? "Um... I'm pregnant. Thats what pregnancy does!"

The worst is that he's going to finish painting at night this week and since its colder at night he tends to shut the windows when he is doing it. Very bad for me! I keep telling him he needs to have a lot of ventilation because paint fumes are not good for the baby.

My weekend was interesting. DH's car broke down an hour away from the house and wouldn't run at all. We had to have it towed to the nearest shop. Turns out that the belts he had replaced two weeks ago were improperly installed (we paid $850 to replace them two weeks ago, and $700 over the weekend to fix the problem). At least that service department wrote something up stating that. He is supposed to go to the dealership that replaced them the first time today and get them to pay for the repair we had done this weekend.

Ugh... too much work to do today. I want to be at home sleeping!

Modkittn - try putting a little vanilla in the paint - it should take away the smell or at least help a little. Also, they have the low vcos paint that doesn't smell quite so bad. We're going to be painting both boys rooms, the dining room and the bathroom in a few weeks....I hope the smell isn't horrible.

Well, finished moving and now I'm just unpacking everything. We didn't move too far, about 15 miles. I'm looking at the ceiling in my new house and noticing that there are fingerprints on the very top of the cathedral ceiling....how on earth am I supposed to clean that? I guess I'll see if DH has a ladder that reaches that tall and he can do it

Just saying hi. Hopefully, at some point within the next month, I'll find out if I"m 9 weeks or 5 weeks pregnant. Also, equally hopefully, I'll be able to eat something other than salad or M&M cookies without gagging. ><
