Well okay here is my thing, I gained a lot of weight just before I got pregnant so when I told my boss she said 'oh I wondered why you had gained so much weight?' and then someone this morning said to me that I had gotten really big, she thought I was a lot further a long than I am and actually I've barely gained anything since I got pregnant. I had someone ask when was I due a couple of weeks ago, this is someone I've been acquainted with for awhile so it's not like she didn't know I was overweight. I was shocked that she could see that I was pregnant, she said that I had a bit of a different shape!
Anyway my thing these past couple of days is that my legs are so itchy! I've been scratching like mad (I know I shouldn't) and I think they are actually swollen a bit. I don't know if they are itchy because they are swollen or swollen because they are itchy and I've been scratching at them. I had a good soak in the bathtub and gave them a good loofah and put on tons of cream afterwards so I hope that did the trick. |
Jen, I'm itchy all the time too! Especially my breasts, stomach, and back.
I forgot to report back here after my big 20-week ultrasound. We found out we're having a boy! It wasn't a big surprise, because I've had that feeling all along and nearly everyone guessed boy for some reason. Woohoo! I would've been thrilled either way, but I'm happy to finally know which pronoun to use when I refer to the baby! |
Congrats on your baby boy to be born! What names do you have picked out? We have girls names but we are stuck on the boy name. I have a page of names that I am waiting for my husband to go through. He read through them quickly, I have the feeling he doesn't like any of them. I think picking out a name will probably take the next 24 weeks or so!
My itchiness is better. The bath and cream helped and I have been putting more cream on. I have a prescription cream for my eczema that I have been using as well. My legs don't feel nearly as swollen (not that they were, they just felt like it!). I'm still a bit frustrated about my weight and not getting my rear in gear and starting to exercise. Heaven only knows what I am waiting for! I don't much feel like riding my exercise bike, I'd rather start with some walks but it is still too cold. We went out for a bit of a walk today, I need new boots because the one heel is worn and I think I was walking funny because my hip started hurting. Otherwise feeling good. The odd bit of queasiness and heartburn but other than that it has been smooth sailing! |
Hi, ladies! I'm more of a lurker than a poster. I'm having a rough morning...totally needing some peace and quiet and not getting it! My three boys are running around like jackrabbits, DH is trying to sleep today from night shift last night and my roof's getting repaired!! All the kids are cranky and whinny from being couped up in the house! I had planned to take them out to the library and various outings today but DH wants me home in case the roofers come to the door and need something.
Anyone had any weird cravings??? Each pregnacy I've had some crazy ones. The latest is cranberry-apple juice last week and zesty crab dip (cream cheese, cocktail sauce, and some lump crab) this week. Other than this new craving nothing sounds good. I make myself eat and the food just sits in my stomach long into the night. I am so bloated that my stomach doesn't even look like my stomach and I am definately not showing a bump yet, either! Yikes. I have also noticed that my prenatals don't have a stool softener...that maybe part of my problem, too! So, may have to add that in to my daily regimen. I pulled out my next size up "fat pants" to help cope with the horrible transitional stage of reg size pants not fitting and not ready to be uncomfortable in maternity clothes not fitting well yet. I tried Motherhood's Tummy Sleeve $17 (a cheaper variation of the Bellaband)and love it. I can still wear my illfitting pants unbuttoned with the tummy sleeve over it as long as I have a decent size shirt. Most of my ls tshirts do the trick anyway! This is the first time I am pretty determined not to pull out the maternitys as long as I can! So far so good...I have a feeling the bump is on the horizon, though! HOw early did you guys start showing??? |
I don't think I look any different than usual but someone at work asked me a few weeks ago when I was due so I guess I am showing something.
No unusual cravings for me yet! Had my doctor's appt today, nothing exciting going on. I've started to have a bit of sciatic pain, I hope it doesn't get any worse. |
I had someone dh works with rub my belly at dinner last night - twice!!! I'm not showing (& won't be for some time with my gut). I felt so uncomfortable with her rubbing my fat - lol!
Friends are in town this week & I'm soooo tired after just one day of tourism stuff - I can't wait for this trimester to be over!!! |
I'm pregnant! I just got my blood work back on Wednesday and I'm 2 weeks along. Whew... I've got a LONG time to wait before baby gets here! This is my and DH's first, I'm really excited!
I've loved reading this forum for the past couple of months, and now I feel like I can join in. Obviously, there's not much going on yet, just lots of tiredness. I'm going to have my first OB appointment next week. It's a little early, but they found something wonky with my thyroid in my blood work and want to get it taken care of asap. :D:D:D We're gonna have a baby! :D:D:D |
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Gale! I am sure you are super excited! Keep checking in here in between naps! Seriously! Sleep and eat as much as you can to keep your energy up! :)
|
Congratulations, Gale!!! Get LOTS of sleep now! The first trimester is when you're really really tired, and take advantage of the fact that your stomach isn't pooching out and making you uncomfortable yet. It's tough for me to sleep now because of my back and hip pain, but in the beginning I slept really well! I'm so excited for you -- you've got lots of cool stuff to look forward to! I know you hear lots of horror stories about the pains and trials of pregnancy, but there are so many great things too. Feeling the baby move the first time, seeing him/her on an ultrasound, finding out the sex (if you choose to do that), registering for baby gifts, setting up his/her room, sharing the news with friends and family -- so much fun!
Speaking of cool things about pregnancy, I felt the baby kick for the first time on Easter Sunday. I'd felt him move LOTS already, but it was just vibrations and flutters. Now he kicks me all the time! He's especially active around 3:00am, which probably doesn't bode well for my future... |
Lifeguard - ooh gross! I don't think I ever had anyone touch my belly when I was pregnant the first time, at least not someone who is next to a total stranger!
Gale02 - congratulations! It is the adventure of a life time you are embarking on, that's for sure! LisaMarie - I've started to have a lot of sciatic pain and some back pain. When I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes it is a huge effort just to change positions. I can't be on my back unless I am practically propped up in a sitting position with pillows. I haven't had much in the way of baby movement, like you were saying the flutters and vibrations, I'm looking forward to some good movements soon! Not much new with me pregnancy wise. I'm glad that spring seems to be getting here at last. Some of the snow is melting and the days are getting longer. I think I have definately had the blues because of the weather. I heard in the news that last year we had about 6 weeks of really wintery weather and this year it has been honestly more than 5 months and more snow than we've seen in over a decade. No wonder people get depressed! I'll be happy to get outside and play with my little boy when the weather is warmer. |
Gale - Congratulations! My dh & I keep saying to each other "We're going to have a baby!" It soooo incredulous for us still 'cause it took so long for it to happen.
Oh - I hope I am spared the back pain - I hope you find some comfort soon for that. My father gets sciatica & just seeing him with it has me convinced I don't want it! Hormones are playing games with me. I'm stilll SOOOO tired all the time but the last couple days I've been so moody - cranky one minute - crying the next. Ugh! |
Gale, congrats!
Jen, I had a lot of itchiness as a 2nd trimester thing in both my pregnancies. Hi Lifeguard, I hope your fatigue passes soon. almsthere, I can't stop eating bananas and cow's milk. Banana's I love, but I'm not generally a milk drinker, so who knows. I'm on the verge of 30 weeks now. I'm trying to be positive, but I just feel awful most of the time. I quit trying to manage my weight gain, and am letting my body do what it likes. I actually gained less this month than last on that plan. Happy April everyone! Anne |
I went to the gym today but I had to go through my routine so slowly to keep from throwing up. I thought I had lucked out with the vomitting but it started last week & now I am finding myself reluctant to eat 'cause that seems to 'cause it. ICK!

Okay a new symptom appeared yesterday. I am fine when I am sitting doing nothing or just moving around the house but when I am outside and doing a little purposeful walking I start getting something like a cramp along the top of my abdomen and it is a bit hard to take a deep breath. Not short of breath exactly but I think if I tried to do anything faster than a slow walk I would probably not be able to do it and still be able to breathe. Just what I need!
|
Yesterday I went to my first yoga class. I am going to try to go Tuesdays & Thursdays from now until delivery. I'm really hoping it'll give me the strong core & open hips I need to have a nice, natural delivery - we'll see. OMG - I did not expect how hard it would be. I can definitely see how it will help with labour & delivery but did I ever sweat!!! And today I have muscles hurting I didn't think you could work - lol.
