  • I bought the Shiva Rea prenatal yoga DVD yesterday but I've been so tired I haven't even had the energy to tear off the plastic wrap yet. I know I'll feel better if I get some exercise, but I can barely hold my eyes open at this point. My little bean is really sapping all my strength! I'm going to try to walk tomorrow after school and see how that goes...

As for the fat issue, I figure I'll probably get fat all over and I've accepted that! I want to stay healthy, of course, but I expect to fill out everywhere. I'm ok with it as long as everything goes well. Not that I'm thrilled about the prospect of figuring out what to wear when I can't zip my pants anymore, but still...it is what it is. And I feel so incredibly fortunate to be pregnant that I really don't care. Bring it on -- zits, fat, bloating, constipation, whatever. I'm not enjoying that stuff, but I'll take it considering the tradeoff.
  • LisaMarie-

It's funny that you mention zits. I usually have real trouble with breakouts, but during my pregnancies, it is the time when my skin is the most clearest. My hair also grows SUPER long (not just thick) during that time-like over an inch per month. My chest also gets super full...adding a full cup size or more.

So, I may get heavy during pregnancy, but many people have told me that I am actually the prettiest during pregnancy-because of those changes.

Now that I think of it...I was pregnant with Saber when the photo in my avatar, and in my user profile, were both taken.
  • Aphil, I've heard that from others as well. It seems like the opposite happens during pregnancy -- if you had clear skin, you break out; if you had breakouts, they clear up. I've always been quite fortunate and have had very few zits in my life. In high school, my friends probably hated me because I didn't even know what it was like to have a zit (I think my first one was in my 20s!) Because of that, I'll probably break out like a beast during pregnancy. I've already started breaking out, but right now it's not too horrific. I already have pretty thick hair, so I can take or leave that. I'm getting it cut Wednesday because it hasn't been trimmed in months and it's almost to the middle of my back anyway! One thing I could use is the stronger nails -- I bite them and they're so weak.
  • I am 23 and 20 weeks pregnant and have gained about 7lbs (Ithink). I haven't been eating healthy either, but I am really going to work on that part. I have never done yoga before, but I am really thinking about taking up pregany yoga.
  • Hello! I'm joining this thread.
Was on bedrest for my first pregnancy, so got VERY out of shape and didn't lose it all... yikes. Just trying to maintain my weight this first trimester. We'll see. I'm also afraid of miscarriage-- had one my first pregnancy.

But I'm hoping this will be the best pregnancy yet.

Look forward to talking with you ladies about healthy pregnancies.
  • By the way, I did Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga and LOVED it (it was the only working out I COULD do with that pregnancy--- even walking was dangerous). It's really not hard and you can fast forward to any session you want to do. Am looking forward to doing it again.
  • Hi Mom2Mollie!! Welcome to the thread! Mollie Grace is such a cute name, by the way!

I did my Shiva Rea yoga DVD tonight for the first time and it felt really good!! I hadn't done yoga in a while, so I'm a bit inflexible, but I managed and it felt good to get in touch with my body a little since I haven't been running or doing any other kind of workout lately. A lot of the stretches felt really good on my back because it's been aching some lately.

I ordered a few more prenatal workout videos, including Crunch Yoga Mama (I believe that's what it's called) so I'll have some variety. I want to do a few videos a week and walk a few times a week. That seems like a reasonable amount of activity without overdoing it. I don't plan to lift weights, though -- that just doesn't feel like something I should be doing while pregnant. I know some people lift light weights, but I'd rather not. Weight lifting and running will just have to wait.

I had a really good feeling today about my pregnancy. It just hit me -- this feeling that everything is going to turn out ok and my baby will be healthy. I've been so worried, but all of a sudden I felt really happy and excited and my worry went away. It didn't go away forever obviously, but in that moment I felt completely positive that nothing would go wrong.

Should we start a January Preggo thread since it's no longer December?
