SHEL!!! It never fails - the second I post my Post (that sounds really adult like) you manage to get in ahead of me! We must have ESP!!! HA HA!!! This is the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened. PRETTY FUNNY! Have a good one!

eeyoredja 06-12-2006 06:41 PM

I did pretty good this weekend, did give into a smore, but used my flex points for it, so no harm done. Af showed up this weekend, so I start the clomid this week. I went for a good walk to day with our golden retreiver, so we both got a workout, lol. I hope everyone did good this weekend!!
hugs,
Donna

I'm envisioning a post from Amanda any time now! lol!

LOL Amanda! I guess we are "in tune" with each other! lol.

Its okay, I didnt' do well this weekend either. Well I was working so that is a big reason. But tonight for dinner we actually ate HEALTHY! Yes your not reading that wrong, I, Sassy_Chick/Shel ate a HEALTHY meal! lol.

I had 1 small skiness boneless GRILLED chicken breast, a very very small portion of red potatoes mixed with snap peas (yeeeeks! a green veggie! lol) and red peppers. Yes I actually ate some of the peas, not all, but a good portion. (not a pea woman!) lmao!

Now I do confess I did have an English muffin with sugar free jam (lmao I almost typed sugar free jello!) & later on I had 1/2 of a cinnamon roll and right now I'm drinking a beer. I probably won't drink it all, usually only drink a small portion then put the rest in an air tight canister for cooking or something.

We also got ALL the cleaning done too! :D So I figured I did burn a few calories there. We didn't go for a walk, we were just beat from cleaning. Maybe tomorrow, er um later on today! lol.

So I don't know.....anyways most of the "bad" food is now gone, we don't even have one soda here and hub was whining about that, but he'll get over it. AND if he wants soda to come into this house, its going to have to be diet. I figure if I don't have it here or don't buy it, then I can't drink and/or eat it! lol.

I still don't feel like I'm quite up to "par" as some of the other ladies on this site, but I know we all move at our own paces. Just sometimes I feel like I'm wasting their time, you know? Like they read my posts like, "UGH she is so NOT committed to weightloss, why is she here?" But I know that is just the evil SUGAR demon  inside me telling me that. I can't listen to the Sugar Demon no more! lol.

Good Job Donna! :high: My AF has not shown up yet AND I think I have a stupid Yeast Infection. YUCK! :p Oh the joys of being a women, eh? lol.

Well have a great night/morning, whatever it is now! :dizzy:

Thanks amanda, I've been around but I'm a PCOS lurker :)

Shel, I think you are taking the right approach. I'm an advocate of modifying your diet and exercise regime slowly. When I initially lost 70 lbs, I did go full force, weight training plus restricting my carb intake quite a bit. After that, I maintained for a while, then most recently (past 5 months), I've been moving to a healthier eating plan. I started with smaller portions, then removing the refined carbs out of my diet and decreasing high fat foods in my diet. I know doctors may advocate smaller portions of "bad" foods, but it is my feeling that us with PCOS are different. Maintaining insulin levels will only help us while sweets and highly refined carbs like white rice and white bread will hurt us.

For me, I was eating things occassionally like fries (once a month maybe) but now that I have gall bladder issues, the doctor has told me to stay off of fried foods and high fat foods completely. So even though my need to control my weight didn't keep me off of higher fat foods occassionally, the intense pain from my gall bladder has :)

Amanda I find weekends to be the hardest especially when we have a very laid back schedule. When it is really hectic I usually plan things out and make sure that I have snacks that I can eat but when we don't have much going on we just eat whenever and it throws me off. Hope you were able to get back on track Monday.

Shel: One meal is a start. Keep going adding more healthy meals per week. Are green veggies a struggle for you? I figured out that I have to experiment with the prep of them. I didn't like aspargus until I roasted it with olive oil and garlic. Yummo! Now, I need to see if I can find a way to tolerate brussel sprouts.

Nelie Welcome, Congrats on your weightloss so far! Ugh...the gallbladder issue. If they tell you to have it removed, try to have it done when you are not in crisis. I was in the midst of an acute attack when they took it out but my cousin in law was not and she had a much quicker recovery than I did. Hopefully changing your diet and slowing down your weight loss will help it out so that you don't have to have surgery. :)

Donna: I commend you on only having one smore! Yay! Sending out Ovulation Vibes for this cycle of Clomid!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Right now I am struggling. I am not sure why. I don't know if it is because I hit a new low or if it is outside stress. I just have no inclination to eat anything healthy except for fruit salad. I don't even want to talk about what I ate yesterday as it was pretty nuts. My mood swings lately have been crazy, not the worst they have ever been but enough to know that I need to eat better and exercise. Now, to make myself do it. I think I figured out that my chicken aversion is to chicken on the bone. Unfortunately right now that is the only type we have in the house so I will be avoiding chicken for awhile longer. We are going on vacation in a week so I hope that when I get back I will be over this.

Today needs to be better.

Plan
  • banana
  • yogurt
  • 1/2 oz unsalted peanuts
  • amy's spinach and feta pocket
  • watermelon
  • 1 oz cheese
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1/4 cup green pepper
  • 1/4 cup celery
  • 1 cup cucumber slices
  • 2 tbls shredded cheese
  • 2 tbls light dressing
  • 1 hamburger bun with 1 serving Lloyd's bbq pork
  • 1 cup mixed berries with 2 servings light coolwhip

Okay...It is 930 am and all I have had is the banana so I need to go get some yogurt and peanuts.

Have a healthy day.

Deb

I can finaly say that Metformin works!

This is my 5th month on Met and every single month I couldn't see or feel any changes. So I tended to forget to take my pills. Well, this month it's different; I can realy fell and see a change.

I started AF this weekend...right on time and I finaly lost some weight, 7lbs within a week or so.

See , I was trying to lose weight but always tended to gain a few, lose half of that, then gain all over again. I was realy getting depressed since my DR's appointment is July 10th. The Dr had asked me to lose between 15 and 20lbs. I know believe it can be done.

The only bad part is that a pair of capris I bought 2 weeks ago, don't fit any more, they are too big (they were just fine at the time I bought them).

Well, got to go know and take my walk.

I know I can get te weight off...I just need to work on it harder than others.

irisheyes213 06-13-2006 12:27 PM

Forever! Yay for shrinking out of your pants. I know how frustrating that is but I have started buying clothes that are a bit snug, not ones that feel just right. It helps with the motivation level and it makes them last a bit longer. I also plan on checking out some garage sales and estate sales this summer. Clearance racks have always been my friend. I bought some stuff at the end of season last year that were a size or two smaller than what I was wearing and it has paid off. the five dollars I spent last year has saved me from having to buy stuff right away for this summer.

Keep walking and I bet you will make your dr's goal for you! :)

eeyoredja 06-13-2006 06:40 PM

Well, today I got up and took the dog for a walk, I went a little further than I did yesterday, and I have stayed on plan all day!! Scary, huh, lol! AF is starting to slack down and I start the clomid tomorrow, so bring on the hot flashes, lol!! I am so proud of all of us for doing so good this week!!

hugs,
Donna

Good Evening/Night Ladies!

Good Evening or Night Ladies!

Thanks yes I remember WAY back when I was a child and struggling with my weight and only losing a lb. here or an inch or two there, my family dr. (he was so AWESOME -- retired now) told me that slower is so much better and to keep with it! So I'm going to take his advice now, many years later! :D

So far today we ate Spaghetti w/ sauce & garlic toast. Okay I know BAD but lemme explain. We are very very low in the food dept here and our payday isn't until Friday. So we are kinda stuck at the moment with eating what we have. So at least we're getting rid of the "BAD" stuff and guess what? We had TONS left but I am going to THROW it out & NOT keep it! So that is a beginning! :D

I SO am craving icecream but guess what? We have NONE and we're broke so can't have it! Which is good! ;) I also plan on going to our local fruit stand and buying some fresh strawberries.

Yes I do have a problem with veggies. Esp. the green ones. But I'm really TRYING to include more, even if its only a few here or there, its a beginning!

Congrats to those who have lost! :cp: I hope to be in that crowd soon. I even had a dream lastnight about me losing --- A LOT! I was the incredible shrinking woman! Only not in height, in weight! :D In my dream, everytime I went to work, people would comment how much weight I lost and how great I looked! Then I lost SO much that I had that excess skin so I had to have surgery to remove it. I hope I don't have to do that, but if I do, I do. I just remember in my dream everybody at work kept on asking me HOW I did it and I just said, "Got rid of the JUNK & Fast Food and eating healthy, BALANCED meals and EXERCISE!" They were like, "Thats it?" I was like YUP. Even hub lost weight in my dream. I know he will if we stick to it because men usually do lose it easier than women do.

So I think that gave me a good motivation because I actually SAW in my dream how we both looked and how good we felt. Already I know its just a beginning here, but since I've been taking ALL my medicines again AND trying to eat better and exercise, I feel better, in just the little bit I'm doing so I KNOW if I really stick to it then I will feel great! That is the main thing for me, is FEELING better. Not tired, run down, like I have been feeling and if the bonus is I look better too, well okay. :D

Deb -- I think we all go through a "slump" but good for you for starting again! That is what I keep doing, over and over, just getting back up when I fall and trying again. The main thing is to keep trying! I keep thinking about what Dory in Finding Nemo sang, "Just keep swimming" :)

Forever -- Great Attitude and I agree w/ you. I CAN lose and maintain the weight loss, I just have to put my mind too it and STICK with it, it just takes me a lot more effort than some to lose, but I CAN do this! Congrats on the loss! :cheer:

Donna -- Congrats on sticking to your plan AND going further with your walking! :carrot:

Thanks Ladies!

 Everybody who is out there in "Lurk" mode! I hope your doing well too! :D

irisheyes213 06-13-2006 10:57 PM

Ya..uh that plan went out the window. I couldn't control my stress eating earlier in the day and then my whole world went off kilter again so dinner was not exactly as planned. It didn't up too bad as I still had fruit and veggies today but I didn't stick to my menu.

Banana
1.5 cup mint chocolate chip ice cream
watermelon
1/2 of a hamburger bun with 1/2 a serving of lloyd's bbq pork ( it tasted funny to me)
fried potatoes with onions and peppers
watermelon

Gee do you see too many high glycemic foods too? :(

So..........blah!

amandalili 06-14-2006 08:27 AM

REAL QUICK!!!! I LOST LBS!!! HA HA HA!
I'm changing my ticker!!

irisheyes213 06-14-2006 09:28 AM

Amanda: YAY!!! Congrats on losing some pounds!!

KSC 06-14-2006 06:07 PM

Hey everyone! It's been awhile.....we got a puppy! He's only 7 weeks old and full of energy. The scale hasn't changed yet, but all of this running around must be good for something! He hasn't had all of his shots yet, so I can't take him for walks anywhere other than in the backyard.

I went to the Dr. today. I waited over half an hour and then he phoned in to say that his car broke down. So he told the nurse to just take everyone's blood and have them come back another day. So I'll have to get up at the crack of dawn again tomorrow! The nurse did call with my bloodwork results and said everything looks good, but the doctor wants to see me because he needs an ultrasound. I was under the impression that they would be able to tell if the Clomid worked just by the blood? I wonder what he needs an ultrasound for? I am praying that I catch a break and the drugs worked! These hot flashes are driving me nuts!

amandalili 06-14-2006 09:24 PM

KCS - COGRATS on the puppy. What kind did you get? Be prepared for a lot of ---> :nono: ! My prayer is that all the medication is working according to plan. How's the diet and exercise going?

IRISH, I mean DEB, I know your real name!!! - Thanks! Only 2 lbs, but a 2 lb loss is better than a 2 lb gain!! I am really trying hard. I hope you are getting back on track and doing better with your eating. I am not doing any better in the planning dept :o , but I am cutting my food intake DRASTICALLY! This weekend is going to be rough. We are going to Paula Deen's resturant THE LADY AND SON's in Savannah Ga on Sunday for Fathers Day. I am going to be flat honest - I WILL BE PIGGING OUT :ink: But I am going to keep it real the rest of the week. I must be doing something right. :) OH!!! That whole chicken on the bone thing is FREAKING HILARIOUS! My boss will not eat ANY meat on the bone, she wont eat Taco Bell, Mc Donalds, NO type of seafood, so your wierdness to it hits close to home!!!

Hey Donna - Did you make it walking again tonight?

Forever - For goodness sake sister. Capri's that are too big!!! REJOICE!! Stinks that you just bought them - BUT take it. Hey, what size are they, I'll buy them wholesale. :D Keep up the good work. The MET does work. I started again on Monday and yesterday went to eat Mexican for lunch and decided to be a glutton and get the fried ice cream - BIG MISTAKE!!! STOMACH PAIN AND DIARRHEA!! But today - I've taken in NO sweets except for the 3 strawberries I just ate. Today no stomach pain to really make note of, next week could be tricky as I will go from 500 mg to 1000. Wish me luck!

Shel - I can honestly say you bring life to this board. I always am curious to see what you have to say. You keep it intresting. Sounds like you are taking steps to the right direction. Friday when yall get paid - Dont refill the fridge and cupboards with bad food. You have the control girl!! I am going to personally challenge you starting Saturday (since you can food shop when you get some $) Let's see who get's closer to loosing 3 lbs in one week. You or ME? YOU UP TO THE CHALLENGE SISTER? COME ON!!! Winner has bragging rights for 1 week? We'll post our menus and exercise for each day and our current weight on next Saturday after the challenge! :listen: Anything to help a friend get to her goal!!!

I hope I didnt miss anyone! Have a terrific evening ladies and a healthy tomorrow.

eeyoredja 06-14-2006 10:24 PM

Amanda, I went this morning again, I am so proud of me!!
Hugs,
Donna
