KSC: About the met...are you going up to 2000mg at some point or did your dr just say 1500mg? The reason I ask is that I have less sideeffects on 2000mg than I did on 1500mg. I have no idea why but I still occasionally have bowel issues but I can usually trace it to food issues. Hope it gets better soon...otherwise check with your dr about changing the formula type like Flady said.

Flady: Sorry that your MIL is at it again. I hate to hear others complain about kids just being kids. I have the same problem watching someone over discipline their child in my opinion. Sometimes kids are just kids and while, no we don't like screaming and such...watching a child get excited over something small is a blessing. I hope you can get passed this with your MIL...maybe she was trying to make you feel better this time instead of raving about how wonderful the kids were?

Amanda: Was it the pumpernickel bread? If so than that is not so bad. Maybe for tomorrow's dinner you could get a salad as an entree to help even it out. WTG on skipping the ice cream! Maybe you should go baby shopping whenever you feel a craving coming on...:D ;)

Donna" Wow, your poor sister in law. That is horrid. Im sure it doesn't make being pregnant a happy time. I am trying to be as upbeat as possible about others that I know are pregnant even though it can be so hard. It isn't their fault that I am fat and have PCOS...but sometimes I just want to crawl in a hole and never come out. :p

----------------------------------------------------------------

Here is how Tuesday ended up...I ate less than I thought but still not that great.
  • Oatmeal and mixed berries with skim milk and a bit of honey
  • nectarine, banana
  • 1/2 cup water melon
  • 2 bowls of fruit salad
  • 5 pieces of pizza--3 cheese, 1 pepperoni, 1 junk
  • 1/2 cup breyers swiss almond icecream
  • 1 piece of junk pizza

Didn't get to the gym today and didn't get the trimming done in the backyard.

Wednesday Menu Plan
  • oatmeal with skim milk
  • banana
  • 1/2 oz unsalted peanuts
  • 1 piece of junk pizza
  • nectarine
  • 2 chicken legs
  • steamed broccoli
  • 1/2 med ear of corn
  • yogurt
  • cucumber slices

I doubt I will get to the gym tomorrow as I have a late work appointment. Maybe I can sneak it in...:?:

Have a wonderful night.

Hi Amanda!

Yes I guess I needed to vent a bit. I feel much, much better now! lol.

Well I didn't do great today, but I guess not too bad under the circumstances.

We ate so far:

1st meal of the day (remember we work nights so I never know what to "call" each meal)

Dbl Whopper w/ cheese
Large Fries
Coke

BUT we both didn't even finish even HALF of it and threw it away! Drink included! Wasteful but at least we didn't eat it all!

Mt. Dew
Water

Now I had this major craving for a Mr. Goodbar, I don't know why. Really. I haven't eaten one in YEARs and its really crazy for me to have a craving for candy as even as a child I was never a big candy eater. My mom said if I got candy it would last me FOREVER. So I ate one of those. :(

That is all for now but I know what we're having for our 2nd meal of the day -

Shrimp and Pepper Lenguine
Spring Green Salads
Texas Toast with Cheese

Okay I didn't do the greatest, but we did walk around a lot today and sweated too because it was so hot.................

So there you have it.

Sassy_Chick 06-06-2006 11:20 PM

Irish eyes -- Thanks. Yeah I have no idea with her. I think she just has diarrehea of the mouth and just says whatever is on her mind without any concern about anybody else!

But I am slowly learning to let it go in one ear and out the other! Yeah where as nobody really likes to hear kids scream and yell, it happens and esp. when the children have such problems as those babies do!

Oh and if if you all haven't noticed, I've "came out" of hiding...........

You may call me now by my name, Shel. :D

KSC 06-07-2006 12:47 AM

IRISH - as far as I know I am only going to be taking 1500mg of Met, the doctor didn't mention taking any more later on either. I have been suffering for so long with a bad stomach. It seems like right after I take the pills, my stomach starts aching. You don't even want to know how much toilet paper I've been through in the last few days! Haha!

Here's a question for anyone who might know: do certain foods not mix well with the Met? Is there anything I can eat to make things a little easier on my stomach?

Sassy_Chick 06-07-2006 03:50 AM

My dr.told me to eat more lean protein when I was on it. I don't think carbs or sugars mix well with it. I think bascially all the "no nos" your not supposed to eat is what causes it.

irisheyes213 06-07-2006 11:23 AM

KSC I personally found that I need to make sure I get enough soluable fiber when on it. Things like beans, oatmeal, bananas, seem to help bulk things up so that I am not running to the bathroom constantly. I also use benefiber occasionally to help when I have been eating a lot of fruits and veggies. I found that regular pop and juice cause almost immediate problems even after I have been at my max dose for awhile. When I was switching doses I stayed away from raw fruits and veggies for a few weeks. I just made sure that I ate cooked veggies so that it was less of a problem.

Eating a lot of carbs can be a problem on met but it should settle down in a few weeks to a month. Don't do what I did last time I was on the generic-I suffered for 5 months before I finally gave up. My dr yelled at me because I needed the med but also because just changing to the name brand seems to have helped alot. Also...are you taking the extended release formula? If not, you can ask your dr for the XR/ER tablets, this solves the problem for some people.

P.S. Shel...did you change your login name? Or are you a different Shel? :)

AHHHHHH!! I am about to inhale some pop tarts! I have a terrible problem with night snacking and eating. I dont think I am hungry, it's actually bed time. I guess I am going to have to cut out TV. That's when I really want to eat badly! I was going to eat it and then I thought about the challenge and how after I ate it I'd feel like crap because I ate it. So I remembered that I hadnt posted today so I jumped on the computer and grabbed a bottle of water. So if I dont break down and eat the 68 grams of carbs in the next 10 minutes - I would call today another sucessful day.

Today's Food intake
Breakfast - English muffin with a slice of chesse
Lunch - Chicken Salad Sandwich and ONE serving of chips and unsweetened tea ( I could have done without the chips - but they came with the sandwich)
Snack - a popcicle
Dinner - broccoli and chesse soup and a fresh fruit cup.
AND..................I HAD MY 64 oz of water today! WHOOOOOOOO!! Tomorrow I have no idea what the menu is going to be. I have got to get to the grocery store!! Breakfast will be he english muffin!

KSC - I found while on Met, greasy and sweet foods got to me as well as foods heavily seasoned or very rich (like some dips). When I ate meats and veggies and limited my carb intake I was okay. The stomach pain was always there because the meds just made it hurt. But as far as vomiting - that was worse with the foods I mentioned before. I saw that today your supposed to be starting the CLomid again? GOOD LUCK!!

SHEL- how was your food intake today? Did you resist the double whopper today? I know you can do this. Did you decide on the car yet?

Irish - How'd you end up doing today?

Talk with you girls soon!

irisheyes213 06-07-2006 10:36 PM

Blah

KSC: I just noticed that you said you are having stomach pain. Make sure you are eating enough when you take the met. I usually take it at the end of the meal and sometimes wait about 10 or 15 minutes after so that I feel full before I take it.

Shel: Okay...I see that you changed all over :) Hope that you had a good day

Amanda: Sounds like you had a pretty good day! Did you get any exercise in?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I ended up off track today. Really the whole day. I just can't bring myself to cook or eat chicken lately. I don't get it. It hit kind of suddenly but about the only chicken that even seems remotely appetizing is a chicken salad from MCD's or BK. Anything else forget it. I even threw out the chicken legs that were thawed in the fridge because it made me totally nauseous to just look at the raw meat. BLECH :barf:

Today Ended up
  • 1/2 of a frosted cinnamon roll
  • 1.5 cups watermelon
  • 1 piece junk pizza
  • 1 sip pepsi
  • mcd vanilla cone
  • potbelly's roast beef sandwhich on skinny white with lettuce, tomato, pickles, seasoning
  • oatmeal chocolate chip cookie

It could have been much worse actually. I had struedal, regular pepsi, and ice cream in my cart this morning but I discovered I left my debit card at home so I only had a bit of cash. I bought watermelon, cantaloupe, and 2 cinnamon rolls.

No exercise got done either...hmmm...no wonder the scale read the same as last week today.

Have a wonderful night.

Okay yesterday's Food (Wed):

1st meal: 1 cheeseburger (no bread or bun)
potato salad (I kinda binged on this......:( had about three servings!!!!! :yikes:)
Small portion of pork tenderloin w/ spices

2nd meal:

2 egg sandwiches on whole-grain bread w/ cheese
SMALL serving of chips n dip

2 pepsi's :(
3 Waters :D

That was it...................It was kind of a weird day. We didn't get up until late and that threw us off!

We did walk around Costco and if anybody's been there its pretty large so that is at least something!!!!!!

Take Care Girls!

eeyoredja 06-08-2006 06:55 PM

Hi chicks!! I cleaned all day today, scrubbed showers, and floors by hand, and did everything else, so I am calling that my workout. I've done good today, half a bagel for breakfast, an apple and tuna for lunch, and more than likely a salad for supper. Tomorrow is my last day of provera, then onto clomid round #2. hopefully this will be the last round!! Well, hope everyone is doing good sticking with their program!
Hugs,
Donna

Sassy_Chick 06-09-2006 09:25 PM

Hi Ladies!

Donna, wanna come and clean my place? lol. J/K. Yes I know that cleaning does burn calories............so wtg! :cp:

As for me, not doing too badly, I guess. I can do and WILL do better.

Today so far I've had:

2 whopper JRS (no cheese)
shared fries with hub

that is it. I think I found my problem by keeping track of my eating. I need to eat smaller, healthier meals. Instead of high fat, high carb large meals. Because I get SO Hungry that by the time I eat something I scarf down something. Makes sense.

Well you all take care!

irisheyes213 06-12-2006 12:50 PM

Shel: Can you bring meals when you are working? If not meals, how about some snacks that may tide you over?

I have the problem that with taking the Glucophage, I don't get hungry that often. I am having a problem though allowing myself to eat when I am not hungry, even if it is something healthy. I've worked for so long to learn when I am hungry and now I have to try and eat more to a schedule. It has been pretty hard.

Hope that you had a good weekend!

nelie 06-12-2006 01:32 PM

I can tell you small meals throughout the day really have helped me control cravings and lose weight. I recently started body for life which advocates lean proteins with good carbs, 5 or 6 times a day. I hadn't been able to lose any more weight until recently when I modified my eating plan to conform with body for life. I used to get really hungry (even with eating small meals) but now I am more controlled. I'm not perfect but just working on it :)

Normal snacks/meals for me are:
1 piece of 100% whole wheat bread, 2 slices of lean deli ham, mustard, lettuce and tomatoes.
1 piece of 100% whole wheat bread, < 1 tbsp peanut butter, < 1 tbsp no sugar added jam
1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of fruit
1/2 cup of mixed nuts with 10-12 raisins
1 small piece of fruit, <1 tbsp peanut butter
1 cup of various veggies(sweet bell peppers, cucumbers, celery, carrots), 1 laughing cow cheese wedge
1/2 cup of rice, 1/2 to 1 cup of steamed veggies, 4 oz of lean meat (chicken breast, lean pork, lean beef, fish)
Protein shakes - 1 scoop of protein powder, 1/2 cup of fruit, water and blend together in a blender.

In addition, I've also given up most artificial sweeteners. No more soda, no more splenda, no more stevia. I drink either water, iced tea or hot tea.

I also serve meals on the smaller salad plates rather than the larger dinner plates.

With PCOS, I would highly advocate following an eating plan that gets you off of refined carbs as it will help you control the cravings more. As I have found though it helps not to totally banish carbs from your diet.

Sassy_Chick 06-12-2006 06:29 PM

Hi Ladies!

Yes I know I need to start bringing healthy meals/snacks to work. Just is so much easier to eat out, but I know that has got to stop and I plan on it as soon as we get to the grocery. The cuboards are getting bare so that is good, we can fill them up with healthy GOOD things! :D

The fast food monster got me a couple times this weekend while working, but I dont think I was that bad. I could be a lot better and I WILL. I have been to a nutrionist and have all the info I just need to go and reread it all again. She doesn't want me on any fad diet like Atkins, etc. She wants me to eat balanced healthy meals. She also said if I want something that I should go ahead and eat the regular, a SMALL portion, she said she'd rather me have a small portion of the regular than the low fat, low sugar versions.

I know I've been bad, but I am trying to do better. I have never done well on "diets" so I'm going for a healthier lifestyle and if I slip, than I just get back up again and try again. But its mighty difficult with a husband who is not a diabetic and wants to eat what he wants. I know that isn't a good excuse and he needs to change his eating habits too as he has high blood pressure and could stand to lose weight too. So I think hes going to be forced into it. I just can't be around junk food. Its like having alcohol in a house with an alcoholic. Won't work.

So anyways. I'm outta here. Off to add to my June exercise minutes by doing so MAJOR cleaning! Yes cleaning burns calories! And if I'm not too tired after maybe hub and I will go take a walk.

Take Care Everybody!
