Default Finally diagnosed...

I had a post below- lots of reads but no responses.

I ended up going back to the dr for my shot to bring on AF and had an ultrasound. He confirmed that I have PCOs. There is relief in that because it explains A LOT!

He prescribed Yasmine and said if I want to get pregnant again I'd need help. I had cysts all over the right ovary and a few large ones on the left. I had lots of cramping this month and now I know why!

I am hoping that the low GI diet will help things also. The yasmine is supposed to help with the hair, acne and mood swings. So I hope the weight loss is a little easier. I also know why WW was going so slow for me!

Thanks for the support- I am new to this forum.

I'm glad for you that they figured out what was wrong. I recently got re-diagnosed (my new doctor didn't believe my old doctor, I suppose). I have been on Yasmin for almost 2 years, and I must say that it definitely helps a lot with most of the symptoms. My cramps are SO much better, and I'm completely regular now. Best of all, it didn't make me gain weight like some of the other pills. It's really the best one I've tried. I hope you have great results with it as well!

With some work, PCOS is manageable. Right now I'm on a med that will (when I go off of the pill) help me get pregnant. Not yet, though! It's nice to know that there's definitely some hope for us PCOS-ers! Good luck!

Glad that you got your dx. Sounds strange but being in limbo is worse than knowing what you are dealing with.

Hope that your dr's plans works well for you!

Oh I agree. Its like you know something is wrong and no one cares. I went to a fertility specialist dr knowing he'd be able to tell me by looking at my weight, skin tags, obscene hair problem, lack of periods and say hey thats PCOS.
I am excited about my B/C is that weird? I'm excited to have the hair problem stop. Excited to feel more 'female' again.
I do have two children. My first I had when I was 19 and my second after 3 years of trying and 10 years after the first. I am not 100% on not wanting more. For now I just want to feel normal again.
Thanks for the welcome!

I totaly agree that knowing is 100% better than being left in the dark with no one listning to your questions/ feelings something is wrong.

I spent 4 years with my OB/GYN , having every single test done known to men on infertility but not the glucose one. That's the one that confirmed to my RE that I had PCO.

Isn't it wonderfull to feel like a women again?

Congrats on the diagnosis. When I was finally dx'd, I was sad because of it, but happy because I knew I wasn't crazy or "depressed" as some doctors wanted me to believe.

I was on Yasmin. Actually, I just took myself off of it this past month. I loved Yasmin as it did help with some of the symptoms (my face is a lot oilier this month!). However, I have a really, really low libido and I read that BC can do that to you. Before I had a very high libido, which is due to the PCOS. I want to find a happy medium! Yasmin was the only bc that didn't make me crazy, helped with symptoms and gave me a light, short period. Good luck!
