Default Newly diagnosed ..embarrassing question?

I have been recently diagnosed with PCOS and Pre-diabetes..and Doc put me on Met 500mg 2xday but....I am having terrible gas and bloating. I think that it is this medication because I didn't have it before. Has anyone else had this problem and did you stick with it? I am not sure what to do ..Obviously gas and work don't mix well..LOl... Thanks for any info..

Metformin will give you gas, bloating, the s**ts for a few days or weeks. You might also get this if your dose is upped too! Try to stay away from simple carbs and greasy food as that accentuates it!

I've been on met on and off for nearly 4 years and you really will feel the benefits of it once you are past the yucky first few days.

Good luck!

Thanks Sarah...I am glad to know that it is normal. I will try your suggestions. Right now I am counting my calories but eating only the lower glycemic foods. I am staying away from the white stuff!

I'm on 1500mgs and I have the same problem! But I've taken it in the past so I know eventually it will subside.

BlynC: I had an upset stomach for a whole week after taking Met, I stopped it for a while and then started taking it slowly, now I'm okay. Just stick to it or bring down the dose a bit
