Hello

It's scary, but it's almost a bit of a relief to know what is wrong, and how I can beat it. I now know i'm not a freak, and that there are other people like me...lots of them..yay for us!! |

CURRENT WEIGHT: 180 GOAL WEIGHT: anything that puts me in a size 10. I guess 140 - we'll see how it goes HEIGHT: 4'11 1/2" - five feet in heels! I always wanted to teach in the suburbs but no one is retiring, so there are no jobs there. More about me: I have been overweight since I was 19. I went away to college and lost 30 lbs by eating following the food pyramid. Then my mom died and i gained the weight back, and more. I've struggled with my weight since, that was 3 years ago. I had all the signs of PCOS, weight gain, hair thinning, acne. I asked my gynecologist about it. I was tested, and was recently diagnosed with Insulin resistance. I have it so badly that I have the darkening of the skin behind your neck. I hope to meet some people that understand what I'm going through. |
Ughh! Doctors!!
Doctors can be so arrogant!!
140, seems like he/she could help you in ttc before reaching that point. It would be better health wise, and so I am sure he has your best interest at heart, and that is good motivation, but if you're like me, you biological clock is ticking, and especially with PCOS, and would love to start ASAP! I have been living with PCOS, probably I'm guessing 10-11 years,(always had symptoms, but no insurance so I suffered, thinking I was just ugly and fat! :( ) but only diagnosed in 2002 (or was it 2003, OH WELL!). That was when I lost down to 190 lbs, and was ttc for the first time, and went to see my gyno and they did a ultrasound of my ovaries, and discovered I had cysts, and that my ovaries were hugh. I also have been diabetic since 2002 :dizzy: But Sorry to bore you! I just feel your pain, I am 5'7", cw @ 242. This PCOS stuff is really bad, but I just keep thinking it could be a LOT WORSE! And that also serves as motivation for me, because I know if I dont get my weight off, and lower my insulin resistance, it WILL get worse! Again, I tend to rattle on, Sorry! Good Luck on your journey, I wish you all the best, I know one day you will have what you heart desires :D God Bless! KimNKY |
Name: Katie
Age: 17 BIRTHDAY: March 13th, 1988 LOCATION: new york city CURRENT WEIGHT: 161 GOAL WEIGHT: 125 HEIGHT: 5'6" EYE COLOR: blue HAIR COLOR: brown OCCUPATION: high school junior More about me: I was officially diagnosed with PCOS yesterday. I just had my sonnegram done, and I do in fact have PCOS. I haven't had my period in 2 years, and I've gained 30 pounds since September. I've had a really rough time with my struggle, and I'm almost relieved to know that its from PCOS and not my own doing. I gained about 15-20 pounds the fall of my freshman year of high school, and that made me crazy. I resorted to eating disorders because nothing I did seemed to work to lose weight. Even next to near starvation I quickly plateaued and couldn't keep losing weight. I did go from 154 down to 130 and I was much happier, but not happy enough. My family moved last summer from a suburb upstate to new york city. I switched from a private to public school for junior year. This was very hard for me, I left behind many many close friends and my new school was very academically rigourous. I began to eat more, but what was more for me was really what should be a healthy amount for my body. As a result, I began to gain weight very fast. I started at 130 in early September, and by January I was already 160. I've maintained since then, but I've been very ashamed of my weight gain, blaming myself for it all. After discovering that I do in fact have PCOS, I've realized that the weight fluctuations are directly correlated with insulin resistance. I've started SBD recently and I already feel so much better after only 1 week. I plan on getting several specialists, and luckily my uncle is an excellent endocrinoligist. I feel very motivated right now and I have lots of support from family and friends. I'm going back to my old school this May because I was invited to prom, and although I may return as a size 12 as opposed to the size 6 I used to be, I am still confident and hopeful and will have a smile on my face! |

Age: 24 BIRTHDAY: October 31, 1980 LOCATION: Florida MARITAL STATUS: Married 10/20/00 SPOUSE’S NAME: Dave CHILDREN/AGES: Bryce (2) and (my stepson) Lil' Dave (11) CURRENT WEIGHT: 240 GOAL WEIGHT: 130 HEIGHT: 5'4" EYE COLOR: Blue HAIR COLOR: brown OCCUPATION: Stay at home mom More about me: I was diagnosed with PCOS back in Febuary by my fertility doctor. All my life I have had problems with my periods, heck I didn't get my period till I was 16 years old and that was because the OBGYN put me on birthcontrol because of it. When I later got married and wanted to have a baby DH and I tried for a year by ourselves but nothing happened. After the year I went to the OBGYN they did tests put me on clomid and sent me on my merry little way to the fertility doctor. They did more tests and never came up with anything but suspected PCOS but never diagnosed me with it. Finally at 150mgs of clomid I was pregnant with my son Bryce. He was born Feb. 17th 2003. The first of this year I went to the OBGYN who sent me back to ther fertility doctor because my periods weren't regular. He put me on BC patch and told me then after looking at all the records that I diffenetly had PCOS and that I needed to lose weight since that would help later on with TTC. Well, now we are starting TTC again but we are going to try without the fertility doctors help since our insurance does not cover fertility treatments. That is why I'm here hoping and looking for support from someone who will hopefully know what I'm going through or at least better then most. |

Brown black, getting a few greys :( GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: New Braunfels, TX E-MAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I'm a serious snacker and I crave sugary foods. I love pasta and soda WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I drink water like it's going out of style, cut my soda and snacking down and I'm finally going to get treatment for my PCOS. Also I have been excersizing for the past month ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? I started having symptoms of PCOS after my second child (98). I didn't know what was wrong with me. The doc said it was stress. I gained a LOT of weight quickly despite being active and watching what I ate. By 2000, I was huge, had major acne, had hair loss and my period would not stop at all, plus I was going through a divorce. Doc said again it was stress and depression. Finally I changed docs in 2003 and he found cysts in my left ovary (tons!). and explained to me what PCOS was. Being a single mom at the time, I couldn't keep up with treatment and have been struggling with this illness since. The new man I've been with for a while said enough is enough, and I have an appointment in a week to finally get treated. This illness has really put me through the ringer and my family as well. It's a real struggle to have the energy to play with your children and be the mom you need to be. |
I'm new here, so I thought I should introduce myself!

No matter how hard I work, fat stays! It has taken me all year to lose 6lbs. WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I am going to have RNY gastric bypass. I have read several studies that show people with insulin disorders often level out shortly after surgery. Pain is worth it if I make less insulin! After that, I have to just keep doing what I have been! I don't think my path is for everyone, but I feel it is best for me. I was on my way to the Olympics, and now I have high cholesterol, high BP, and a resting HR of 89!!! At this point, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be healthy again! |
