Question Hypothyroid: how to find a good Endo?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism (he tagged T3 on the beginning of that) about four years ago now by a family practice physician and was taking Armour. Every other FP I've seen since has told me I don't need to be on thyroid medicine and so I finally stopped last August.

Well, I'm now tired all the time, I've put on weight I can't explain and cannot lose and I am too young to feel this exhausted. So I'm going to look for an endocrinologist, but I want to be equipped with the right questions to ask as I look. I want to make sure I find an Endo who will take my symptoms seriously and my original diagnosis. I don't want to take medication if I don't really need it, but I just feel like I probably do.

Is anyone knowledgeable about these things and know questions I could ask an Endo before I go to them to make sure they'll take me seriously?

Well, ask about their lab. Each one can vary in their range for "normal" so at one you can be low and at another be normal. That's what happened to be until I went unmedicated so long I was low all over the place! But I was also feeling THAT much worse!

Can you get your original FP to give you a referrral?

A.
