Also love getting yelled at for losing weight (even though I need to for health reasons...jealous people). I've been on plan 9 days now WOOT! (actually more than that but that is when I started counting for my challenge) scale went down by a whopping 4.4 lbs last week WOW hoping to see something close this week (though I doubt I will see the same)

Who's yelling at you for losing weight?!? Sounds toxic.

astrophe 07-19-2011 01:43 AM

Never got to that workout -- my whole day got away from me with the kid and the house! Obviously I'm better off exercising FIRST THING.

But I stayed on track food log wise more or less. That's a solid -661 calories off. Go me!

My mother. I started at my highest of 320 lbs and am now down to 265. I only have to mention to my sister "hey, do you want these pants, this shirt, etc its too big for me" And my mother flips out saying I'm lying and I like my clothes too tight and that I'm going to plateau soon cause she always has or "I don't know why you are bothering to lose it, you'll just gain it all back" this is pretty regular. I think she is bipolar cause once in a blue moon she will say" you can tell you've lost weight" which is her way of trying to be nice and compliment.

Astrophe- I hear ya. You'll do better tomorrow! Don't you love kids? LOL

astrophe 07-19-2011 02:39 AM

That's a shame your mom is projecting all her stuff on to you. Hang in there -- it's tough.

I agree-- hang in there!
I have a rocky relationship with my mom too. It can be very frustrating!

astrophe 07-19-2011 10:59 AM

So I made today's food log plan. So far I'm on track -- had v8 and scrambled eggs for breakfast.

I started talking to myself all funny in the kitchen.

"See the bread? Step away from the bread. That is not your bread, that's for kid and spouse. You have eaten enough bread in your lifetime that one day without it shan't kill you. And you just made your allergy appt. You do NOT need this bread, your sinus congestion does not need this bread, you get all your carbs over the day, you don't need extra bread carbs... just step away from the bread... steer clear of the bread.... heck, hide the freakin' bread in the fridge so you don't see it on the counter there... step AWAY from the bread... almost out... there!"

And when I got out of the kitchen and back to my home office I thought "Boy, you are a nutjob talking to bread like that!" :dizzy:

We'll see what the allergist has to say about it. I swear it just clogs up my nose instantly!

nina125 07-19-2011 11:00 AM

Lost 1lb this week even though I ate bad this weekend. My husaband & I were invited to a Rock Band party and I was sipping on Sangria & ate a ton of veggies with a ton of ranch.. We had skipped lunch, so we were famished even with all the snacking by the time we got out of the party.. So we stopped and stuffed ourselves with msg loaded chinese at mid-night. But I am still grateful for losing that 1 lb :carrot:

I am surprised that weight watchers actually work!

SMSDREAMER2007 07-19-2011 02:30 PM

Thanks ya'll I am hanging in there..its kind of the norm for her to do that now so I am semi used to it.

wtg on ignoring the bread astrophe!

Nina- mmmm chinese!! YUM! wtg on the 1 lb loss!

astrophe 07-20-2011 12:12 AM

Well, I didn't ignore it all day! Veered a bit off track toward the end and gave it up in favor of sleep. Kid plumb wore me out and DH did a Mcdonald's. I went with small fries and a cheeseburger at least for damage control and came out to -361 calories for today.

Not the -500 I was aiming for but I'm not trying to be perfect either. Just taking it one day at a time and so long as it moves DOOOOOWN I don't care how slow.

Bright side -- beat my kid bowling. It was neck and neck there for a bit!

A.

1049jess 07-20-2011 10:26 AM

Nina, good job on the loss!
SMS, I think it's awesome you're doing what's good for YOU! It can be hard when you have family members who try to sabotage your efforts. Keep at it!
astrophe, yay for winning @ bowling!!!

Wednesdays are my weigh in days and... drumroll please...... I'm down 3 lbs! I'm shocked, considering I haven't been exercising as much as in past weeks AND I had an anniversary celebration this past weekend.
It's just the motivation I need, especially since I feel like I've been totally stress eating these last three days... In addition to having a lot going on at work, I'm leaving today to travel to TN to help my mom pack up my grandmother's house. Grandma will be coming back here to AZ with me on Saturday to move into an assisted care facility. It's a lot emotionally, and I just hope I can keep my eating under control!

Hope y'all have a good rest of the week. I'll try to check back in but may not be able to. :)

nest 07-20-2011 11:16 AM

1049jess- good job on the 3lbs!

SMSDREAMER2007 07-20-2011 02:42 PM

WTG 1049jess!!! that's awesome!

I jumped on the scale out of curiosity and it was the same :\ I ve been perfectly on plan but yea... Meh

nelie 07-22-2011 01:47 PM

I'm just checking in. This year has been rough and I went to my regular NP to talk about some things and she said I was overdue for a physical. I also told her that I'd like to switch BCP but she didn't feel comfortable with that but she did refer me to a gyn that she thinks is great. I trust her so I am going to do that. Unfortunately, my annual isn't for a couple months and insurance doesn't cover interim visits so that will wait.

I ate a pretty high fiber meal before my office visit with her and she checked my A1C and glucose. She said my A1C level was good but my glucose was a lot lower than she would expect so soon after eating a meal but it wasn't too low.

Anyway, next week I'm getting the full workup, tests and what not. She also gave me a little food diary that is based on exchanges. I'm amazed, I eat a pretty high carb diet and it calls for 8 servings of grains per day. I just can't hit that although I do overdo the fruit and veggie servings a bit.

astrophe 07-22-2011 09:54 PM

Out of curiosity -- Nelie, what were her suggested exchanges?

A

nelie 07-22-2011 10:23 PM

8 grains, 4 veggies, 3 fruits, 4 protein, 3 dairy, 3 fat. I dont do dairy so I just counted those as protein slots. I usually eat about 6 servings of veggies and 4 servings fruits.

SMSDREAMER2007 07-22-2011 10:27 PM

Nelie- I'm wondering what changes she suggested for you too, Can we have a synopsis? How is it different from what you were doing before?

Just checking in. I did really well today took made a HOMEMADE pot pie for the family for dinner, took 2 hours to make. Dough from scratch and all. I was good, I put corn and lima beans in it (which I don;t like) so that I didn't eat it hehe. Made egg drop soup and a chicken salad for myself. Though I did overindulge in my yoplait raspberry chocolate delights YUM! ate all 4 oops! good thing they were only 100 cals and 18 carbs (had protein in them too) each! Didn't go over my carbs for today *whew* 1 carb under 45% haha Hope you all had fun ;)

nelie 07-23-2011 07:57 AM

I should also say that my NP didn't expect me to strictly adhere to the suggested exchanges but use them as a guideline. I had told her I was overeating lately and she thought it might help. Normally, 60-70% of my calories are carbs, but those are from the beans, fruits, veggies and some whole grains but usually up to 4 servings per day not 8.

The exchange diary is helping so far though because sometimes calorie counting does frustrate me. It is easier to say how many servings I ate.

Nicoyaangel 07-23-2011 12:37 PM

OMG! OMG! OMG! I woke up this morning and thought to myself I feel a little heavy today ugh I bet I gained weight. OMG! I actually lost another 3lbs. That's 15lbs total so far! And that's without trying hard. I cut out fast food, soda, and walking more often! I am SO happy!!! Time to update my tracker!

SMSDREAMER2007 07-23-2011 01:48 PM

Glad to hear it nelie!

WTG nicoy!!! thats awesome!

astrophe 07-23-2011 09:21 PM

My kid creamed us at bowling! She got a 124 where I got a 90 and spouse got a 103.

Kinda bothered with the allergies and the AWOL TOM but otherwise chugging along...

A.

Nicoyaangel 07-23-2011 09:27 PM

Thank you SMS!

Astrophe - I am waiting on AF too. I was so concerned about this whole baby thing that I didn't think to ask the doctor about AF
Do I skip a month now that I have 1 ovary or does the right ovary work twice as hard? Guess I should Google that. =\ I hate Googling stuff lol

ems81wales 07-24-2011 10:18 AM

astrophe the appointment is not even made yet im still on the referal list lol xxx

astrophe 07-24-2011 01:19 PM

Nicoyaangel -- ugh, hang in there! I'm not really as ragey, but I'm still waiting on my AWOL TOM. 91 days and counting. I am checking the days til my endoc appt!

Emwales -- hang in there with your waiting too!

Checking In:

I have bad allergies today. My eyes are red and my nose is terrible. I just took a pill so hopefully it will chill out a bit.

A.

SMSDREAMER2007 07-24-2011 02:49 PM

astrophe - so sorry bout the allergies!! I hate , hate, hate allergies!

Checking in: Lost 1.4 lbs this week, not the two I was expecting but after dropping 4.4 last week I will take it! hopefully next week will be a bit whoosh who knows?

Nicoyaangel 07-25-2011 04:06 AM

SMS - That's awesome! A loss is a loss! Hope you getna bit more next week =)

Today was an AMAZING day for me! We went to the state fair. Did so much walking my feet hurt. They had fried everything. Zucchini, twinkles, snickers, fruity pebbles, cookie dough - ALL FRIED. So last year I admit I had some fried food. This year something went off in my head at that time! I was standing in line to get my fried Twinkie & as I stared more at the fried food in the window I thought to myself that looks disgusting. Then my fiancee said it doesn't look good. Then I went from booth to booth until I found something somewhat healthy. I remember watching the biggest loser and hearing Bob saying eat food with color. Each booth I went to had fried food. The brown was making my stomach turn. Finally I see Gyro's. Chicken, fresh lettuce, fresh tomato's & onions. So I ate that. It was delicious. I was so proud when I left that line. I DID get back in the fried Twinkie line only because my best friend that couldn't go this year asked me to bring her back a fried Twinkie. But I still didn't buy anything for me AND her Twinkie is still there. Ack! LOL On a mission to lose my next 5 lbs =D

SMSDREAMER2007 07-25-2011 04:53 AM

thanks nicoy! I am trying to see it that way ;) I just broke in to the 260's and I can't wait to get out of them already LOL I think this is my 3rd week seeing 26 I know im being impatient ;)In my head I want to see the 250's cause once i see that (which has always been the big big number for me, like a turning point I guess, maybe midway point) My head goes once we hit 250 it will all be smoooooth sailing! Piece of cake! I think that mentality comes from as soon as I break in to the 240's I have then lost more than I have left to lose so it's like the final stretch...all a mental game I guess. I know consciously I will probably go till 170 or something but to be that close to goal would be AMAZING I don't remember ever being in the 250's or even the 260's really maybe when I was 13 and didnt weight I might have been there but never at a time where I saw the numbers I was always 275 and above. As far as your nsv WTG!!! thats awesome! Though I think I might have gone for the fried zucchini! I am a huge zucchini lover! Wish I could say I avoided fried stuff today HAHA but sadly NOPE! Keep up the AMAZING work!

astrophe 07-25-2011 11:20 AM

SMSDREAMER2007: 1.4 lbs is great! :) I get bored of seeing 270's too -- I know what you mean about wanting to shift down to the next "decade."

Nicoyaangel: Glad the fair was fun! And you managed the fried food situation so well!

My Check In:

The allergist tomorrow! I can't wait! Hooray! Fix my nose! Get rid of these itching eyes!

I fixed my ticker and noted the -1 lb from last week.

It might be more but I'm having a hard time keeping the sodium down lately. I'm not going to worry about it -- just drinking lots of water to help flush it out.

TOM still missing but I'm doing better mood wise -- not feeling all hormonal and crazy.

A.

Nicoyaangel 07-25-2011 12:39 PM

SMS - I know what you mean!! Just take it a little at a time and eventually you will get there =) I am rooting for ya! And thank you! The deep fried cookie dough was delicious last year (believe it or not) but I really would like to get pregnant in the next year. That was my motivation :)

Astrophe - Thank you! I hope your allergies get better soon. I am in the sane boat. They are terrible.

Up early. Going to have lunch with a friend, laundry then going to thengym later. Really excited! =)

SMSDREAMER2007 07-25-2011 01:12 PM

astrophe wtg on the 1 lb!! (and on allergist tomorrow yay!!) and I know what you mean bout the sodium, im tracking it lately to try to see a trend.

nicoy- Im sure it was! I can imagine LOL and gl on the pregnancy thing.

I have to say it, this is weird, I am used to being the weird one out all the time in every day life I mean literally no one else has pcos around me and they don't understand what im going through, how it affects me, they dont understand why I eat the way I do or even try to understand, anything like that, its odd and yet refreshing to not be online on here!

nest 07-25-2011 04:52 PM

Ugh. Started new bcp yesterday. Feeling like crud today. Headaches, tenderness, just generally feeling yucky. I know it'll get better and this would've been easier had I not taken a 6 month "break" from bcp. I'll feel better once I adjust.
Also, had a moment (well, hour) of weakness and bought a big bag of candy, ate most of it and ate some French fries. Sigh. Eating lots of fresh veggie for dinner to try to recoup as much as possible. Fresh start tomorrow!

Rana 07-25-2011 09:19 PM

I'm finally back from my travels. Next week, I do another one, but it's shorter and to be honest, I ate like a freaking pig this past week that I am actually looking forward to eating healthy.

So, despite my piggy eating, my period came slightly early and I wonder if it had to do with the fact that I've been very low carb recently. I haven't been able to stick to my calories, but I've been avoiding the dreaded white carb, and avoiding wheat/gluten in general.

I suspect my mother has a sensitivity to it and I think I do too, so it's been interesting to see how avoiding it affects my health.

I didn't lose weight, but getting my period early is weird for a PCOS woman!

I'm sticking to the low carb, but within my calorie range this week and see what happens.

JustSharing83 07-26-2011 11:49 AM

I've made posts in past threads talking about not menstruating and suspecting I have PCOS, well today I finally got my diagnosis! The doctor gave me Provera to try to have a period then I am going to take birth control for a while as I continue losing weight, then when I am ready, we'll try Clomid.

It's been a long time coming and it truly feels like a relief. I immediately came to this forum because it's the one place that reminds me I am not alone. :)

SMSDREAMER2007 07-26-2011 01:12 PM

justsharing- Congrats on he diagnosis I know how incredibly infurating it is to not have that diagnosis.

JustSharing83 07-26-2011 02:09 PM

Thank you!! My regular doctor just wasn't comfortable making a diagnosis even though she said it fit, so I had to wait to see a specialist.

Has anyone else taken Provera to get a period? Did it work? How long after taking it was it before your period started?
I'm on 10mg for 5 days.

SMSDREAMER2007 07-26-2011 08:36 PM

Ive personally not used it I do know someone who doesnt have pcos who used it and had great success.

nest 07-26-2011 10:25 PM

Dr gave me provera about two years ago at same dosage and timeframe as you mentioned. Didn't jumpstart my tom. He bumped it up for. Few days. Still didn't work. Made me feel wierd. Someone else I know used it and it made her feel crazy emotional but worked. I've heard good and bad reports. Good luck!

astrophe 07-26-2011 10:56 PM

Nicoyaangel -- so how was lunch with friend and the gym?

SMSDREAMER2007
-- thanks. I worked HARD for that darn lb! Allergist was a bust -- have to reschedule. Ugh. I'll keep trying to break in. Or else find another office that isn't so busy.

Living with PCOS is weird. I'm not the only one I know who has it, but neither do immediate friends have it. So yeah, it's nice to have other people on the board who know what it is like.

nest -- hope the BCP adjustment goes smoother soon! The hormone wacky can make a person crave -- hang in there and get right back to it!

Rana -- Welcome back! Keep writing about your wheat thing. I'm experimenting too and would love to hear it.

JustSharing83 -- welcome! I've taken Provera in the past to reboot period many times. I actually recently went in and my GP says she no longer reccommends it and suggested just hop right back to BCP. I'm still mulling all that over.

But usually do all your pills and you will get the withdrawal bleed. If the 5 day version does not work you may be one of the people that need the 10 day. Previously my GP would give the minimum needed to reboot -- which for me was 5. But I've done the 10 too in the past.

There's a BCP thread here for PCOS people too.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/pcos...ills-pcos.html

My Check In:

Well, no exercise. But on track with the food log. Lower in fiber than I wanted but a solid -751 calories for today.

I don't care how slow it goes to rack up the -3500 calories to make it be -1 lb. I'm on the path and I'm going to nail that next one! PCOS be $$%! :rollpin:

Still no TOM, but endoc lab tomorrow. One baby step at a time...:carrot:

A.

ems81wales 07-27-2011 07:59 AM

Glad your back rana how was your holiday?

Astrophe iv been drinking lots of water to :D

I lost a lb this week and met my birthday goal i set bk in november im so proud of myself 31lbs off woohooo

nest 07-27-2011 08:57 AM

Well...I haven't had the best week food wise. I always started out great and had a plan but faltered a bit before getting back on track by dinner. In the past when starting bcp I gain a few pounds so I'm trying to keep that from happening. So far no gain but no loss either. I will take it and keep moving forward.

Rana 07-28-2011 12:14 PM

My longer update.... I kind of put it on the positivity thread.

I'm back from my travels again and only one more scheduled trip left.

I'm happy to be done with the traveling because I really need to get working at work and on my studies and on losing weight again. It's soooo easy to get off track when you travel.... although every trip I try to learn something new on how to handle it better than before.

I'm back to exercising and eating well and really hitting the weight with the low carb thing. I usually let myself have more "healthy" carbs like brown rice, but this time around, I'm really trying to get back down quickly and I'm going to do the low carb thing with more veggies and fruits and less grains than normal.

I've been reading about people doing the whole Primal thing and while I don't subscribe to the whole idea of it, I am intrigued and I'll see what I can incorporate into my diet/lifestyle.

PCOS wise, things are well, my period arrived 28 days like I was on the pill this time around!! So weird, but I wonder if it had anything to do with the healthy eating I've been trying to do... this past trip I was doing very low carb to offset any weight gains. Also because I've been reminding myself that it's not worth it and all those desserts and breads and whatevers I can have any day so I don't have to wolf them down now.
