I went back to the endo today. My left ovary still has a 37mm cyst. He wants to check me again in 3 months. The pain isn't too bad. I have gotten used to it!

I told him about the stomach cramps and headaches with the Gluc XR. He told me to stick with 1000mg a day for now and don't try to increase to 1500 and see how it works if I just stay here a while. I had hoped for another med. He said the headaches were not a side effect of the meds, but that he has heard it from a few patients before. I guess it could be PMS! I haven't lost weight. Well, I did lose 6 pounds, but it was all back today. Could be water because I lost 3.5 inches in my waist and .5 in my hips, and my BMI went down a point. My ring was tight today. I will weigh again in a week and see how it goes.

Are you still eating sugar? Like, more than one sweet a day? I get headaches when I eat sweets but not other carbed foods, just cookies and things.

As for the cyst, have you looked into Ovarian Drilling? (Incase you dont know what that is, they take a cauterizing pen and burn holes in your ovaries, buring out the cysts and excess androgens. It has benefits up to 2 years, including conception). I had this done last Aug (2001) and am SOOOOO glad they did it. I felt GREAT after and did notice a difference in hair growth. Mind you, this was before the glucXR. They do it while your under in a lap. They can also remove endo at the same time using the same pen.

I rarely eat sweets. Usually my carb downfall is tortilla chips! On Saturday I had grapes for breakfast, with decaf coffee and for lunch I had ham and cheese roll ups. Nothing else! BUT Friday was the birthday party....so yes I had cake and brownies. I was doing good with my food log and then I fell behind from being so busy with updates on the site. I think I better get back to it, and keep a log of how I feel.

I didn't know about the ovarian drilling. Well, I had heard of it, but only for conception reasons. Since I had a hysterectomy I just kinda breeze past all of those treatments. I didn't know it would relieve other symptoms! Dr Kennedy did talk about aspiration today, but said we would talk more when the time came. So, how bad is 37mm for a cyst?

Dang girl, your eating habits are terrible! You need to be eating more. Food is not your enemy but lack of it and high carbs are. If this is your consistant eating habits, no wonder you have headaches. Your body is trying to tell you something. You should be eating 5 SMALL meals (at least one food item - even nuts - and a good drink like milk or juice or water, not coffee. LOL) a day. This is important in PCOSers and Diabetics. Please, force yourself. After a week, you will feel much better, Im sure of it.

Headaches are common in PCOSers/Diabetics when not eating enough, eating too many carbs, and/or too much stress. Im betting its your lack of food intake. Your blood sugar is probably too low because of the gluc and lack of food. Because of the gluc, you NEED to eat or your body and its systems will foul up. Whats the point in taking the gluc (to better the body) if you are going to sabotage your systems? Thats like fixing a toaster then never using it. You are taking the gluc to be able to live a normal life. I can almost guarentee you this is why you have headaches and arent losing any more weight. Food is the energy your body needs to function and work as it should. Ok, getting off soap box now.

Ovaries: No, OD is not just for those ttc. I am not ttc and will do it again if my ovaries become bad again. Im on gluc now so this shouldnt happen. Each ovary puts out androgens. Every cyst puts out more androgens. The bigger the cyst, the more androgens it produces. OD will get rid of all this excess androgens which inturn causes excess hair, acne and menses issues. Gluc should keep it away once you have the OD. Since you had a hysto, have you conciidered removal of the ovaries too? That MAY be an answer but could also cause more probs then good. Something to discuss anyway.

Oh, sorry! I should have clarified. I didn't eat anymore because that is when I got the headaches and then I slept the rest of the night. Eeek, sorry for the alarm! You're sweet.

However, I do tend to eat too light some days, so I need to remember your words for the future! I have a very stressful life. I works long hours and spend all free time working on this site. My only relaxation time is between when I get off work to when I put my son to bed. However, that isn't really relaxation time. It is usually eating dinner, cleaning dishes, running errands, planning meals, getting Cody in the shower, etc. Regular family stuff. I need a week at the beach!

Is OD the same as aspiration? That was the method he discussed. I had no idea that would reduce the androgens. He did say that since I had a hysterectomy that it would most likely be one over the other (aspiration vs removal), but I didn't catch which one he said. I had other questions on the tip of my tongue and then forgot to clarify what he said. I don't mind having it removed. I would welcome it!

Phew! On the eating habits. But yes, its important to be consistant. I have also noticed that as my PCOS worsens, so does my light sensativity. Where exactly are your headaches? Are they in the bridge of your nose, the forehead, scalp, back of head/top of neck area (where your head is connected to the top of your spine)? I ask because I am in physical therapy and can ask my therapist what she thinks it is from. I get sugar headaches at the bridge of my nose, headaches in my eyebrow and temple area when the light bothers me or starring at the computer too long (this is an easy fix, computer glasses, my husband also needed them) and the back of the head area from various of positions I stand or sit in. Basically, it becomes a chore to hold up my own head.

Asperation is when they stick a needle in the cyst and drain it. OD is actually burning out the cyst. OD is more beneficial then aspiration.

Blech, they both sound pretty um.. painful! I guess we'll see in November what he has planned. I'll do whatever he thinks is best, I trust him. He is Dr Thatchers partner. I don't know too much about Dr Kennedy, but I am very familiar with Dr Thatcher and trust who he brings in with him as a partner.

I will have to think about the headache location. Funny you asked that because just this morning I was wondering myself. I remember feeling it once behind one eyebrow, when it was sharp, but the rest of the time I think it was a whole-head pain. I'm not sure, it is so blurry now. I'll make a note of it next time it happens.
