PCOS Buddy needed
So, here is what I'm lookinig for...
I need a weight loss buddy. I cannot do this alone. I need someone(s) who is(are) struggling or have struggled with PCOS. Where I am: I'm 1/2 a minute from giving up. I felt bad about myself tonight so I ate a bowl of ice cream and two mini pizzas (now I feel worse, hurray!) What I'm going to do: Tomorrow my husband and I are going to purge this house, if it isn't good for us it goes [bye-bye] AND I'm going back to the gym tomorrow. I have a great gym and I pay good money for my membership. I'm going to use it. What I know: I am a success when I remove all simply carbohydrates from my system, when I stay on my insulin meds and when I remember that the final outcome is not a number on the scale or in the waistband of my pants but in the way I feel after running up a flight of stairs or when I play with my dogs. I know that we won't have a healthy pregnancy until I'm healthy enough to get pregnant. What I can offer: I'm addicted to the internet, so I'm always here for you. I believe that we can do this, for the first time in a long time I believe in myself. I DO deserve this and so do you. I'm a really social person, I want to have someone with me to encourage and to share the journey with. There, I put myself out there. |
Hey Gurl!
Let's start with - Chin up! So what, you caved and had ice cream and pizza. Its ok. You haven't doomed yourself. Its a temporary setback something that isn't going to linger in your life because you know what you need to do. Don't dwell. Its over, time to move on. I have been an educator for over 18 years and am here if you need me. I run a support group in my area and online. Feel free to contact me anytime. See below for contact information |
Yeah, last night was definitely not pretty. AF arrived, so my hormones were even worse than normal.
I'm kind of glad that DH had duty so that he wasn't home to have to put up with me. My appologies to those here who did LOL |
Hey! First things first. Did you check out (under exercise. I believe) the biggest loser forum? I believe today is the last day to sign up. You can join the competition and be on a team to give u support to lose weight. Second, I suffer with PCOS and I HATE IT! I wish I could meet someone in my area that has PCOS too so I come here for support. February 22nd I go to see my dr. For the first time in my life for ovulation pills. I have tons of weight to lose too. I'd love additional support
|
I'd love to be here for you.
|
That would be great!!! I'm always online too but my laptop is down so I am on my sidekick. It takes a while to load responses. I'm from California 23 female. What about you? I hate having PCOS. I hate the hair especially. My poor boyfriend is a trooper for dealing with it. How does your husband handle it?
|
I'm 24, and from Florida. My husband is in the Navy, so I try to really focus on weightloss when he isn't home. Deployments are the perfect tool for selfishness.
He is very supportive, more so than I ever thought a man could be. |
Gooood morning!! Nice, where in Florida? My best friend used to live out there when she was younger. Awww my cousin is in the navy. Well, at least u get time to work out. I see you have lost a good amount of weight. What is ur overall goal? I would love to just lose 50 lbs by the middle of the year and another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
|
We're currently in Jacksonville, we're hoping to get orders to Chicago at the end of the year! One extreme to another LOL.
I started at 262, I was down to 205 at one point but right now I'm back up to 244 (that is so hard to write) My RE has already told me that I need to be below 200 to start TTC and my husband and I want to start seriously working on that as soon as we're settled at shore duty. My crazy PCM wants me to be 125. Yeah right! I'm a big girl, I always want to have curves and a butt, hips and boobs. I think I'd like to get to 180 and then see how I feel then. |

If you are ready just keep doing the dance and don't let what he thinks you should weigh stop you. Are you on any meds now? |
Hey there.. I am back after over a year break for weight loss, and last year I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I have about 50 pounds to lose. I am also an internet addict.. I spend a lot of time in my email and communicating with friends on myspace.
Buzz me!! |
I'm on Met, but I'll be completely honest I am really lazy about being consistent with taking my meds.
It's something I'm working on :D |
I go through spurts of not taking mine as well. I will do really well for months and then all of a sudden miss one day. That turns into 2-3 weeks of not taking them. I just started again last night as a matter of fact. I better go take it now while I am thinking about it.
|
My husband reminded me this morning.
He has really been amazing these past weeks since coming home from deployment. Wanting kids was always my thing before but now that he wants it too he's a lot more active in helping me stay on the straight and narrow. |
Hello!
Gosh, I really hope my dr. doesn't tell me to lose the weight and come to see her about any type of medicine. We wants kids too and I just want to start this process asap. That is my biggest fear. Its not like I am not trying to lose the weight. So it would be nice if they worked with me too :( |
They always tell you to lose weight, it's the PCOS catchall.
Hopefully though your doctor will work with you and not just preach at you. My RE is fantastic, he's given me some really fabulous advice that has REALLY helped. |
Hi everyone!
I'm 25 and in Maryland. I have PCOS, insulin resistance, and adrenal fatigue. I have an amazing doctor who works with me and has given me amazing tools. I still need to loose 40 pounds and could use the extra support. My husband is amazing. There are no longer any carbs or sugar in our house and I couldnt have done that without him! give me a buzz. I'm online a lot! |
Hi ladies! I'm 27 in GA and at over 300 pounds, I've got a long way to go before I'm even at the doctor's office talking about kids. But, it's my husband's and my dream. Good luck to you all! I'm on Yaz to keep everything moving and my doctor prescribed Met, too... but I was so angry about being on a "diabetic" medicine that I didn't take it yet. But, it sounds like it works!
By the way... the hair?? It sucks! Hugs - Heather |
Heather, don't be upset about being on a "diabetic" medicine. Part of our issue is very similar to being diabetic in that our insulin just doesn't work.
The medicine might have been created for those with diabetes, but it's been a lifesaver for women with PCOS. I can't even tell you the difference it made in my life for someone to finally say "yes, you're not imagining it, there is a problem" oh and even better "there is something you can do" |
This should be the support thread :)
Oh I know I have to lose the weight because PCOS or not 230lbs is not considered healthy lol Well, my appointment is on February 22nd so I have until then to lose something. *sigh* And I hope this all works |
You can do it! I know you can!
|
Thank you! I know I can lose something, come on now.
Ok, I have to ask. What is the 'The Great Fast Food Bet' ?? Sounds interesting :) |
LOL... well fast food and chocolate are my two downfalls.
My husband is really being amazing this time around with the weight loss, he's joined my gym, he's reminding me to take my meds and trying to encourage me to eat healthily without being pushy or demanding. Anyway, I was mentioning to him yesterday how frusterated I am about how I can't seem to drive past fast food places when I'm hungry without stopping. So we have a bet. $100. Whoever caves first and eats fast food has to pay the other one. That money is to be used however the other person sees fit. No questions asked. I'm looking for someone to make a chocoalte bet with though, because that I'm super competitive so this is a good way for me to steer clear of my trigger foods. |
LOL I like that! But what if you stop by a fast food place and get a salad, does that count towards getting the $100? I really like that idea because my boyfriend never takes lunch to work and always goes to Wendys (Well, says he hasn't since he started the gym) But that would be a nice bet lol
Hmmm ... I would loooove to do a chocolate bet with you. Snickers (with almonds) is my weakness and there is one sitting here in my drawer right now. King size too *drool* LOL What address do I send the $100 to if I eat it hahahaha ??? No but seriously, I would love to do a chocolate bet. Unless you meant someone closer in your hometown :) |
:)
Who goes to a fast food restaurant and orders a salad, let's be honest.. it doesn't happen. We excluded Subway, Crispers and Panera because while technically "fast food" it's WAY better for us as long as we order right. I'll do a chocolate challenge with you, but no $... via the internet it sounds sketchy and weird! I'm sure we can come up with another idea LOL Tonight @ midnight? |
HAHA True about the salad. I have tried but walked out with some fries too haha
Yea lets start tonight at midnight. What happens if we eat chocolate? Hmm... you say you go to the gym right? So maybe something you have to do there. I go to the gym too by the way. I dont know. Or run outside .. eww but its has been raining ugly here in California. Hmmm... The boyfriend and I just had a discussion about how irritated he has been with me because I have not gone to the gym with him. I need more then just the gym. I need to walk outside. Walk the dog do more then just the gym. Just looking at tv monitors while on the eliptical is boooorrring to me. Being outside and just walking for some reason is comforting. So he promised on the weekends since our 24 hour fitness closes early (go figure!) we can walk outside and during the week after I pick him up from work I would go to the gym with him. |
I would love to join you guys. I also have PCOS and have some weight to loose. I started eating healthy and excercising on Jan. 2, 2008 and it has been a week today and I have lost 5lbs. I am so excited. I am definetly determined this time to loose the weight. Nothing and no one will get in my way of loosing it.
I have a 7 year old son and last year I was hoping to get pregnant but I did not really do anything to make it happen. The dr. told me I needed to loose some weight and that would make my periods regular but I didn't. This year I am focusing on me. I want to lose weight for me!!! I want to feel confident and good about myself. If the reward at the end is that I get pregnant then let it be, but if not I want to be beautiful and healthy. What kind of diet and excersice plan are you guys following? |
Welcome aboard! That is our goal also. A) I want to lose enough weight where I can start concentrating on getting pregnant and B) Gain some confidence. We all three should place a bet together. If your addicted to chocolate like us you can def. join that lol.
Bet starts tonight at midnight. Does that mean the Snickers with almonds and caramel in my drawer is edible?? haha |
I would love to join in the bet. I need something to motivate me and keep me going. But, I am not big on Chocolate. A better bet for me is Chinnese Food. Yeah, I love that stuff especially orange chicken. So can I bet in with you guys with a side of Orange Chicken???? I have to resist and not eat it!!! I just want to keep loosing weight and become healthy.
|
I too am always on line so I will be checking in often.
|
Ok I'm in too but mine is bread and chocolate. Both make me feel horrible when I eat them but they taste sooooo good! However, I have been making my own with a different sweetner so it's not so bad for me and that has helped a lot because it doesn't spike my insulin and it curbs the craving. But the bread is horrible. I don't keep it in the house but when I go out once a week with my family it is harder. I am really enjoying this thread.
|
Hey Peds Welcome as well!! Yea, well ok what we can do is everyone throw in what they love and crave that is a big NO NO to us. Then if someone breaks that we ALL have to suffer with a punishment. Hmmm... I actually like the bread bet. I loooooooooove toast. MmMmm *Drool* I am trying to think of what is it that I eat that is very bad. I love carbs. Hmmm... I need to think about this one. Ok, I am going to use Peds idea no bread and no coffee :)
So, starting tomorrow (January 10th) we can not eat what we have decided to give up. And if one of us messes up (we must be honest) What will be our punishment?? |
Good morning ladies!
Sorry for not checking in last night. T and I had a great night at the gym, he did really well at his fitness assement and has another appointment next Tuesday for his second free session. We're really considering buying some personal training sessions for the both of us so we can learn what our bodies need. Still no fast food for me so YEAH! Also, in non weight loss news my husband is up for shore duty orders and we both want Chicago. Well, we got the list this morning and there is a LOT of chicago on there so our chances are good :D I'll make another thread for our bet :D |
Ok, I posted my bet. Lets see how long that lasts lol.
I'm sitting here on my couch on my slooooow sidekick internet trying to keep myself entertained. The tv is down and the internet goes with the tv so yea lol PJ - where did u originally grow up? Do you guys move a lot? My co-worker is originally from Chicago. I hope you do get to go there. |
My husband and I are both originally from NW Pennsylvania... we're high school sweethearts (everyone together now AWWWW)
He's been in the Navy for 5 years, and we've spent all of that time in one duty station so this will be our second Military move. It's going to be a challenge, but one that I'm definitely up for! Boo to internet being down. I'd go a little mental, I need my fix now and again LOL |
Hello to everyone. I am in on the bet....Yes!!
Well, I went and had a good work out this morning and feel really good today. I have a question for all of you with PCOS.....I had not gotten my period in about 4 months. Now that I have cut down a lot on carbs and excercising my period has started. Do any of you guys have the same experience. A while back I lost about 40 lbs and that was the only time my period was regular. Just wondering if others have the same symptom. I have not been on any birth control pills for about 6 years and last year my dr. gave clomid to help me ovulate so I took them one month did not work so I never took them again. I know, I know I need to give it few more months but I hate taking pills. Let me know you experience and your symptoms with PCOS....... Thanks........have a great day!!! |
Oh, absolutely!
When I was at my heaviest 262 it was NOTHING for me to go six months to a year without a period. Now that I'm smaller my periods are definitely more normal, although we're still pretty sure that I'm not ovulating. My Symptoms: Slightly more than average facial hair Unexplained weight gain (before the insulin resistence was diagnosed) Loss of cycle and ovulation Infertility |
Hello ladies!
Yea, I am the same. I am late. Last time I got my period was Dec 6th. It is now January 11th and I spotted once and it went away. But whatever. So how are you ladies doing? |
