wow..that's a bummer. I'm not sure if I have PCOS (no insurance to get it checked right now) but I can relate to the facial hair and hair all over! I've always had a little excess facial hair, but when my weight shot up to 230-240 the hair on my face started to get a bit darker, thicker, longer,etc... Nair and that type of stuff no longer worked (it doesn't work on my body hair either anymore). I'm down to 170 now and the facial hair is still going strong, I was hoping it would calm down when I lost weight, but I guess not now. :(

I do have an epilator (the pink braun one) and I use it on my chin/cheeks area and I wax my upper lip because using the epilator there hurts way too much. It won't pick up very short hair though, even though it says it should. So sometimes I can run my hand under my chin and feel a little thick hair or 2 and it's annoying. I've been using it for a couple of years now and the hair hasn't grown in any lighter or finer like people say it will. My hair also grows back fast... I usually have to do this atleast once a week (4-6 weeks no way, ha!)

Are the more expensive epilators better at pulling out the shorter hairs?

I also sometimes get these little whiteheads after waxing or using the epilator, not right away but over night they will come up. Any thing I can use to use to prevent them?

Hi - I don't really think there is any difference with epilators. The whiteheads are irritation and when I DID have electrolysis a long time ago - the technician told me NOT to pick at them - they would go away.

Hey, I saw something the other night on our local news about do it yourself laser gadgets. Does anyone know about these. My apologies if it's already been discussed.

i found a solution! threading! i think someone posted a link from you tube on the 20 something site a while ago. it works pretty good and doesnt require shaving. its worth a try! do a search on you tube.

I've got PCOS myself. I shave the facial hair and tweeze all the time. I use the Venus or the Mach 3 razor blades and unscented shaving gel. No redness irritation at all. I had a lot of redness and irritation when I used the cheap disposable razors and soap.

I suggest waxing or threading (once a month) instead. It's way nicer to the skin.

I find that doing it after a hot shower is most effective for shaving. When the skin gets irritated shaving over it just makes it worse. I tried waxing and chemical creams just cause harm without actually doing anything. I even tried laser hair removal with this new laser technology because I have red hair which doesn't react well with the normal laser. I probably blew $2000 without any significant result. I just got prescribed Vaniqa which is working really well. I still have to remove the hair, but it is getting less frequent and on the website they have a coupon for a big discount.

New here, wanted to say hello and that I had the same problem. Threading helps in the beginning but beware with time the hair becomes more, and threading is painful too. The best thing I ever did was Laser hair removal, I know its expensive but worth the investment. It costs me about $70 per session, after the first 5 sessions my hair became lighter and now I get it every few months, no marks, no irritations. I highly recommend it.

I suggest the waxing method. You can have stubborn facial hair waxed once a month and have a smooth hairless face. It will start to grow back in by roughly the 4th-5th week. :D
