This is an interesting article on the definition of PCOS because there are other diseases that can manifest similar symptoms, including cystic ovaries, but are not PCOS and can be treated, like Cushing's Syndrome (which can include obesity in the core, acne, hirsutism, etc.) but is NOT PCOS and needs different treatment (since the source of the disease is something else).
