Default Since my first relapse

I wrote about this elsewhere and I just came acrossed this forum.
I have made a lot of realizations since my first relapse of losing 30 pounds and thinking I would never go back to my old ways.. then it started and gained almost 15 back.

I relaized that I can't do this alone and I'm not ready to be around the things that tempt me. I have hardly any trouble in controlled situations.. but out on my own... well that's when the trouble starts.

This is when i relaized how much of an addiction I have. I wish I had a place where I could just go, like a rehab of sorts and be in that controlled situation wih only my helath to focus on... do they exist?

Do I belong in his forum? I woudl love to learn more about all the 12 step stuff and really begin a program somehow to help me on my way.

Hello and welcome. Sounds like you might find some people with your experiences here. I can't give you input on re-hab, but I can tell you that I have often found it easier to stick to a plan when on vacation, and then when I get back to my horribly stressful business I dive back into the destructive compulsive behavior. The beauty of 12 step programs are that they have us deal just with today, over and over again, building on our success so to speak. Please stick around and ask more questions, I am sure you will get good info.

Welcome!

Have you any face to face OA meetings where you live? That would be a good place to start. If not this is a wonderful place too. There are OA on-line meetings and telephone meetings also. Lots of information at oa.org.

This is a cunning baffling and powerful diesease and I use every means I can to not be active with it. It takes what it takes!

Hope to see more post from you.

hugs

I've looked for some meetings near by, but i'm gonna see if their are any a little furthur away. I've never been diagnosed but I know I have lots of ingrained 'habits' that have made this a sort of addiction. I need to retrain myself in a lot of things and get healthy. I'm going to research some more at the website today as well. Hopefully I can start the steps and whatnot myself and talk here and find a sponsor that's ' not just a close friend' who nderstands more of what i'm going through.

I just can't get over how I feel good when im eating right, I know all about healthy living and et I still find myself binging on random baking goods and tubs of icecream..

have you been to the OA web site? I recommend reading the book 12 Steps and Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous.

I am brand new to OA and I have to say that I just started reading their book 12 steps and 12 traditions. You can read the steps but until you read this book you won't really understand what they mean. This book is changing my life and not just my compulsive over eating. Please get a copy.

It changed my life too. For the first time I had clarity. It's the key to understanding the program.
