Net or total

For those doing low carb do you count net carbs or total carbs? What do you limit your carbs to daily?

I follow the Insulin Resistance Diet framework, limiting myself to two servings of carb (30 grams) per meal, and fewer than 80 or so per day overall. That's rather high for "low carb." Many low carbers aim for fewer than 50 overall, or even fewer than 20.

Personally, I find that if I aim for fewer than 80 I usually end up with fewer than 50, but it also gives me a little leeway for the occasional eating out... so long as I stick to the 30/meal limit, my blood sugar won't skyrocket.

As for fiber, I subtract it from the total carbs to measure the net carbs. I did not get this heavy over-eating high-fiber foods!

I aim for 20 or less but I honestly don't keep track of the ones in veggies...sort of cheating but if its real food, I consider it ok.

Hi, could you please share the Insulin Resistance Diet framework you are on?
Thanks

I stick to 20 'net' carbs per day. I am following the ketogenic diet which is very similar to Atkins. I use the food tracker on the Atkins website to keep track f my macronutrients. It's pretty easy to stay in range. I am not finding this diet to be very difficult and I a losing weight.
