Default eating a lot in the evening

Does anyone struggle with overeating in the evening ? I exercise to lose weight in the day and eat a raisonnably amount of healthy food (1200-1500 calories) but in the evening I feel like I have no control over what I eat. I can eat like a 600 calories meal and then binge after like two hours after meals and at this moment I am like eating sugary, fat , really non-healthy things and so I can't lose weight cause my calories goes beyond my daily needs. Any help anyone ?

I always eat in the evenings, I just make sure that whatever I eat is counted in with my calories for the day.

I don't know if that helps or not, but if you're like me and you know you'll eat at night, maybe try saving some calorie room for what you'll have instead of eating all of your calories during the day

I agree with LLV that you could try saving a snack for night time - and you can make it big so you feel like you've eaten loads. I like fruit salad with frozen yogurt/low fat ice cream. You can put some chocolate shavings on top if you're really craving something sweet. Load your bowl up with loads of types of fruit and you'll feel full in no time without having ruined your diet.

Also, I find that exercising in the evening reduces my appetite.

I try to eat a pretty big snack in mid or late afternoon. If I eat after dinner, it's either a sliced apple or 94% ff microwave popcorn. Once in a great while, a small square of dark chocolate.

You might try eating small, frequent amounts during the day. That might help cut down on the nightime eating. If you have a high activity level, you might need more calories during the day to support how much you are burning off.

I'm another person who just saves calories for the evening. It was much easier to work with my normal inclination than to fight it all the time.

That said, if it's really a problem, you might try adding some structure to your evenings. I know that I tend to eat then because it's the only time I'm not running around like a crazy woman. The nights I have class after work I eat much less (and have to remember to eat more earlier in the day) You might try scheduling an evening activity

I eat so much at night: but healthy food and I stop after dinner is over! I eat everyday at 6: atleast a whole head of cabbage and about a pound of fish! After that I am stuffed to the brim, something uncomfortably! Its a habit of mine that is both love and hate, I wish I could stop before I felt as if I were going to vomit, but sometimes I just cant and I get crazy pains in my stomach later...and I wonder why I have stomach problems once in awhile...ugh! I wish I had a way to control eating a lot at dinner, but unfortunately I DONT

I have that same problem!
I finally went out and bought an airpopper and eat 8 cups of airpopped popcorn each eve! Even with butter flavored oil and butter powder it has only 400 calories for 8 Cups!

That's alot of eating!!

PS...anyone concerned with the teflon chemical in the microwave popcorn?
We finally quit buying it because the youngest kid loves popcorn and eats it every day, and at 4yrs old - AND with no safe levels known of that chemical yet, just too much risk.

I am in the same boat as you! I eat very healthy and low calorie all day, every day but after dinner between 7:45-9pm I am constantly snacking! It's on healthy stuff like fruit, oatmeal, cereal, ff cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, peanuts, raisins etc. Then after 9-9:15 the urge is gone and I quit. I have not been successful in breaking this habit. I'm not every hungry when I'm munching, it just seems like I can't stop myself. I think the best thing to do is allow myself to snack but count those calories into my whole day so I don't go over 1400cal/day. I hope this helps you to know that you are not alone with this issue. Take care!
