plain yogurt

Hi all --

I am looking for ways to incorporate more plain nonfat yogurt into my diet. I know it's a great source of protein, calcium and live cultures, but I hate the way it tastes. Right now I'm eating with blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg and Splenda. Sometimes I mix it with cooked apples, cinnamon, walnuts and Splenda. Does anybody have any other suggestions for ways to use it?

Thanks!
V

I put vanilla extract in it along with the sweetening ... and I mix it with granola for a great snack or meal. I also slice apples into it and enjoy eating my fruit with a bit of sweet around it.

I put frozen rasberries & strawberries in my yogurt with splenda!

try this

1 packet diet jelly
1 cup drained canned fruit (any type)
200 ml (just under 1 cup) of diet yoghurt

blend
pour into 4 cups
refridgerate until set

each serve about 70 cal (depending on fruit and yoghurt used)

Great snack! handy to have in the fridge to fill the sweet cravings!

Strawberry compote is so good, you won't even taste the yogurt!

I use this in my lowfat plain yogurt daily, I make mine with Strawberrys.

Mixed Berry Compote
Serves 8

Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar substitute (splenda works)
1/2 cup water
1/2 pound assorted frozen berries, defrosted

Instructions:
Place the water and sugar substitute in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the berries and simmer for 2 minutes.

also:

yogurt ranch dressing

I use nonfat, plain yogurt as a replacement for sour cream and mayo.
Since you don't like the taste, try it in mixture.

Examples:
1/2 sour cream and 1/2 yogurt mixed up on baked potato
1/2 may and 1/2 yogurt mixed in with tuna fish for a salad

Generally, it's a great, tangy sauce base. So anything where you add other spices (maybe a vegetable dip?) it will work great!

Hmmmm, I love yogurt, so it's hard to know what would make it taste good to somebody who doesn't like it ;) I use plain nonfat yogurt as the base for homemade salad dressings. Just add a little lemon and whatever herbs and spices you like.

Smuckers Sugar Free

This is my favorite way to eat NF yogurt.

Strawberry, grape, and apricot. :D

I blend it with some frozen berries, half a banana, and some soymilk for my breakfast smoothie each morning.

I'll make pumpkin soup and add a cup of yogurt to a bowl of hot soup--it makes it nice and creamy, and the tanginess of the yogurt gets mellowed by the soup.
