How many carbs?

  • I just started using Fit Day again and noticed that my pie chart (the oner that shows the fat, protein, carbs, and alcohol) is showing that 78% of my food intake so far today, is coming from carbs!!! I have taken in 111 carbs so far today and I don't know if this is bad or not. I haven't really had all that much to eat today so I am a little worried. Can anyone give me some general information on this subject and whats good/bad?

    78% seems a bit high--you probably aren't eating enough proteins and fats.

    Different weight loss programs have different ratios of these nutrients. For example, the Zone uses 30%/40%/30% protein/carbs/fats.

    You can find the ratios of other weight loss plans by typing "carb protein fat calculator" into your search engine. The first few sites that come up should provide you with information.

  • Thanks for the information. All this stuff can get confusing! The thing of it is, is that I haven't even really eaten a meal yet today! I have only had a protein shake, grapes, a Poweraid, water, and a luna bar! All of which I thought were "healthy" things. Maybe it will balance out better once I eat either a late lunch or early dinner!
  • I've never found that 'magic number' either of what I am supposed to eat in carbs each day. What I do notice is that if my carbs are greater than 50% of my daily total, my weight creeps back up or my loss slows. When I see the trend of carbs getting higher, I try to have a higher protein day with something like two servings of tilapia for dinner. The protein boost gets me back on track (and it tastes so good!)

    Well, I have finished eating for the day and updated my Fit Day. I ended up with 20% for fat, 49% for carbs, and 31%for protein. I consumed 1,448 calories today...I'm still a little hungry but I'm going to wait for the food to hit my stomach a little better and drink some more water.
