I love hummus, of course, but I also really like them curried over brown rice. I also like them in salads, soups, tossed with pasta; the options really are endless.
I love chickpeas. I make hummus and falafel pretty often, but the falafel I make from a box (click here http://sweetbippy.blogspot.com/2006/...l-follies.html if you'd like to know why. Kitchen disasters, humph! )
I love hummus and home made falafel (although I have also had the same dissolving experience as Shananigans--my solution has been to brown them in a non-stick pan with just a little oil or spray and then to finish them in the oven. They're SO much yummier than the boxed falafel). I don't eat a ton of beans, however, because they're quite high in calories. I should probably reevaluate.
I love hummus and eat it about once a week. I really have to portion it out, because I could definitely overeat it. I love chickpeas as well, in salads or just plain. I love their taste and texture. But like Baffled, I find them too high in calories. I like to spread my calories out over the course of the day, so I tend to stick to lower calorie items.

I would love your recipe for curried garbanzo beans! Sounds YUMMy!
Make sure the spices are as fresh as possible (especially the ground coriander) it makes for a better curry.
Curried Garbanzo Beans
3c Cooked garbanzos
1T oil
1t each ground coriander, ground cumin, tumeric
1/4t cayenne pepper (more if you like it hot)
1/2t each ground cloves, ground cinnamon, ground ginger
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2T fresh lemon juice
1-2T fresh cilantro, chopped
1 large diced tomato
salt to taste
Heat oil in a pan; cook spices and garlic over low heat for a few minutes. Stir in garbanzos and add enough liquid to barely cover (be careful not to add too much or you may need to cook longer.) Stir well; mash a few beans with a fork (or masher.) Cook beans over medium heat for 20 mins, or until sauce thickens. Salt to taste. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, cilantro, and tomato.

1/2 onion, minced
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup flour
salt and pepper to taste
