Just a rainy day in PA also. Hope everyone is having a great weekend
**** Yeah for me, did my cardio today, plan to do my strength tape tomorrow, and have stayed OP all day. Not so much for the WI, on thursday, but more to prove to myself, that I can do this, my reason to get healthy is more important to me than that treat for the minute. |
Got to get back in the groove!!
:D Hi everyone :D
For those who remember me hello again, and those who don't then hello and nice to meet you! I'm finally settled here in Toronto now and am taking the plunge into this whole weight loss bargain again. I managed to get some weight off before the move which was good, and I had kinda sloped after it all, well, because you know how hectic moving can be, and starting over in a new place.. I didn't gain much more than a couple pounds since, but hadn't lost any either. So here we go, trying again to get to my goal. Why does this have to be so hard anyways!?! Anyone have any tips to give me a boost back into this again? It's gonna be a rough start here... I'm gonna try to find where there's a WW close but until I'm working a bit more I'll put some money away to join. I hope I can still take motivation and everything from stories to recipes from you all, and help get to my goal, finally. Hope everyone has been well and are having good luck with their journey. Talk to everyone again soon! T. |
Hi T.
I'm new to WW and just wanted to say Hi. I think Canada would be a great place to be! I love the climate in the north! We live in a very hot summer area and I hate the heat. Congrats on the weight loss! Where did you live before your move? Lori |
Hello! I think Canada is a great place to be, I've never left :) haha. I lived in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia before moving here. I like the not too hot weather too, I'm oringinally from Newfoundland where it's alot colder than this.
It's been almost four months since I left, and I haven't been watching my weight at all! 0_0. Thanks for the congrats though, it was really hard looking back on it, and I know it's gonna be just as tough again this time, but I'm praying I'll be able to get into a good groove again. Where are you from? T. |
Hi Hi Ladies!
Just jumping in here really quickly. I seem to have fallen into some old habits about the weekends. TV & healthy eating don't seem to mix with me. *regret-filled sigh* I remember having such an amazingly easier time when I was at my old apartment & didn't have cable. I wouldn't even bother watching TV. Maybe I need a "no TV" at all rule?... I don't need to be filling my head with re-runs anyways, truthfully. Quitting TV (except for a few recorded favorites) would certainly be tough... but it would be worth it for my health, wouldn't it? (rhetorical, just talking through my thoughts) And what happened to my wonderful weekend exercise? Goodness, Faerie, what is the deal with you lately? *poke poke* This morning is a new & wonderful morning. *Dusts herself off* I've got a lot of OT today, but the rest of the week seems pretty easy going. :) *Gulp* Just 3 short weeks until the wedding! :o We're getting our rings very shortly... and we're ordering favors tonight. :) I hope you all have some great days! :) :grouphug: |
Faerie - I understand about the TV and unhealthy eating! A couple months ago we ditched the high end cable package and went down to limited basic cable and it was a hard change, but we do watch a lot less TV now.
My mom is here visiting for the week, so that will be a test of my new eating style. I'll have to concentrate on staying out of the fast food restaurants. |
Well I broke down and bought maternity jeans. Same size as my regular pants, and they fit great and are super comfy! I put on a Bella Band to keep them up. I was just sick of all my pants being way too tight around my stomach and having to unbutton them all. I thought I would try the Bella Band with all my regular pants, just unbuttoned. But its just not comfortable to me. I like the maternity pants much better. I feel like its too early for them though!
I'm just hoping that everyone isn't thinking "Oh I wonder if she's pregnant" because I definitely look... well I look something. My chest is bigger and my stomach is bigger but the rest of me is about the same. My DH told out neighbors that I'm pregnant and they said they were wondering if I was. I wonder if all my co-workers are thinking that... I still have 4-5 weeks before I can make an announcement! I hope I make it that long before its blatantly obvious. Faerie - I only have the high-end cable so that I can get the HD channels. Otherwise, my fairly new LCD HDTV would be... well kind of useless when you think about what I bought it for! In February we will at least be getting all of the free local channels in HD. I'd seriously think about getting rid of cable altogether at that point, if it weren't for DH wanting to watch every single hockey game (only played on a cable channel). How about doing something while watching TV, like knitting or crocheting? Welcome back Tendalaya and welcome mom2fivesweeties! kestrel - I'm still weighing in every day! I need to stop! Actually, I didn't this morning but that is only because I am on travel for work and there was not a scale in the room :o Good luck with your eating while your mom is around! Does she like the fast food restaurants, or do you just end up there when she is visiting? |
Hi T!
I live in southwestern Illinois, a suburb of St. Louis, MO. Lived in St. Louis my whole life and moved over the river here in 1984. It was a rural area then but not anymore. The schools are really good though and my 4 youngest are all in middle school so it'll be a while for a move again, but we would like to move somewhere rural again with a lot of woods. I told dh I'd love Ely, MN for the cooler summers but he hates the cold so I suppose that wouldn't do. My oldest son is 22 and he wants to move to Pensacola, FL. So we are all very different! LOL! Thanks to everyone for the welcomes and good luck this week! |
Kestrel - Good luck with the food issues while your mom is around.
Mod - Yay for comfy maternity pants!!!! Ya know I never picked up knitting/crocheting... but it's not a bad idea to have something permanently next to the tv to do in order to keep my hands busy. Because, in fact, I believe that's a huge part of the continued eating. Mom2five - Hi there! How are things going today? :) --- Less than 36 hours until I never have to step foot in this building again!!! Wheeeeeee! Does anyone else go through strange mental times when it really hits them that this healthy eating & regular exercising really is the new normal? It just occassionally hits me that this isn't a temporary condition. Not that I've ever felt I was going to get to goal weight & then turn around & "return" to my old ways. I suppose part of the realization has something to do with the fact that I've eaten pretty awful my entire life. So this new normal is a strange beast. Oh well, just a throught. :) Hope everyone is enjoying the very last day of September in 2008. :grouphug: |
morning gals.
Mod I am sure when you finally make the announcement everyone will say "I thought so" Faerie, i often get amazed at how 'normal' the way i eat is now. hello and welcome T. and Lori! it's Rosh Hashanna today (Jewish New Year) and although I'm not observant (in fact i'm at work) it still holds some feeling for me and I miss my mom a lot. she's gone 13 years now.... |
Hugs Nessa - holidays are a difficult time. My Mom died a few months ago and though people say "it will get better" - I truly know it never will. :(

Nessa -

Wow, I have missed a lot... so I am just going to say Hi :)

Happy October Flexy Ladies!
How is everyone? All doing amazing, and OP I really hope!!! It's my last day at work. I'm having trouble finishing some things, not surprisingly. Some of my co-workers got me a card & a gift card for the wedding. So sweet of them! I'm eating a banana. I think I may switch my morning banana for a different fruit to save on points. I've heard that bananas aren't the greatest of fruits anyways. (Not that bananas are like little Debbie cakes or something, but there may be even better choices nutritionally.) I'm a little worried about my entire life & schedule shifting. It's going to take a lot to keep myself OP when transitioning. I know that now is the time to think about it, and write up plans. Well, I best get this work done ASAP. Everyone have a lovely day :) :grouphug: |

Yeah.. I have had a few "bleh" days lately where I have struggled with these realizations a bit. I am happier eating this way--yet sometimes it is like I internally rebel against it and want to eat and eat and eat... but it isn't a physical hunger, if that makes sense. In fact, if I may confess, I fell off plan for a day a few days ago and just that icky, stuffed, too-full feeling reminded me of how I used to feel ALL of the time. It was a potent reminder of how far I have come even this early in this go-round. And that I have a choice to make each day, even each meal, about how I want my life to be. It IS a strange beast. (I am back on plan and even managed a 2 pound loss this week, but still, I am really quite unhappy with myself for making that choice to "go there" and potentially jeopardize my progress. Quote:
Nessa, ((hugs)) |
 Nessa
My eating has been horrible the past couple of days. I am on travel for work, on a naval base, and I only get to eat their cafeteria food. Bleh! Oh plus we are on a small island and basically the only food they get is stuff that comes over on a barge. So you can imagine how much fresh food they have here that is actually good. Not much! Well time to get back to work. I will reply to everyone Friday when I am back home! |
 Just popping in... I have been reading as people post but don't feel like I have too much to add right now! I am literally just sitting around waiting for my sister's baby to arrive. Any day now... We are taking bets on whether the baby will end up a birthday present for her, or if he will get his own date (her bday is Oct 6). You know, I don't blame the kid, hanging out where it's warm and safe!

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a mom is one of the hardest things a woman/girl can go through no matter how old you are. my mom died when I was 35 and a dear family friend said 'you are so young to lose your mother'.... I had NO clue what she meant till there was no one to discuss my peri-menopause with..... tonite is weigh in for me... if my scale continues to run true to the WW scale I'll show a small loss tonite.... probably less than a pound but that's ok I had nearly 3 pounds last week.... and my doctor only wants me to lose 3 pounds a month.... |
Halfway through my mom's visit and we've been doing good with staying out of the fast food places, we usually end up there for lunch just out of convenience. But she's really supportive of me starting WW, I know she doesn't like seeing her "baby" this big and unhealthy. I got some snacks for her to have while she's here (ice cream, which I can't have anyway, chips & cookies) and while I did have a serving of chips with my lunch one day, it was one serving (with the recorded points) and not the whole bag, which is a huge improvement for me.!
Sometimes it hits me that this isn't a temporary thing either, but I'm just concentrating on how much better I'm feeling now and that helps. Plus now that I'm not constantly overeating, it feels like I'm not stretching my stomach out to expect these huge meals. Faerie - I hope your last day at work passes quickly, you must be so excited! And I think writing up a plan would be a good way to move forward while staying on track. :) Quote:

Nessa -- Good luck with WI
Faerie -- I've heard that about bananas, too, particularly that they have a lot of sugar. Anyway, I'm so excited for you to be leaving your work! Are you going to be deoing something else? Mod -- so glad you've decided to stick around and keep us up to date on your pregnancy. I hope all of your tests bear good news! Jaime -- yeah, I'd probably hang out inside for a while if I was hearing all this scary economic news! Kestrel -- way to go on one serving of chips!! That's awesome! It is good to keep it "one day at a time." I know I missed some people above but I had to just stick with the posts on this page. Otherwise it gets a little to overwhelming!! But, welcome to the newbies and welcome back to the returners! ------------------------------ I am just back from spending 5 days in NJ at my parents' house, attending a friend's wedding, and then celebrating the Jewish holidays. Eating was fairly abysmal. When I got back to town, though, my roommate mentioned that her eating was pretty terrible, too, and that today is her "back on track" day. I'm trying to get there, too! I'm also trying to cultivate a better attitude about, well, everything. Just a generally better attitude. I think it would really help. OK, I gotta go get my day started. |
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to jump in and say hello. I just rejoined WW last friday. I was on a one way candy corn train back to 220 pounds. In a about two weeks i went from 122 to 130. Yes i know how to eat..lol I'm changing my meeting day to Saturday mornings this week so i can go running at the park after my WI. Yesterday was a bad day for me. Do any of you have a problem with binge eating.. I thought i'd be ok if i bought some WW bread and natural PB..i should have known better..bread,PB and candy are trigger foods for me. I can't have them in the house. So i guess we all know what happened. I will not make that mistake again. So i'm back OP today..doing damage control for my Saturday WI. I will eat all my points..nothing over... |
Wow, I was just noticing my goal, my present weight, and the date. Down to 129 in two weeks seems so possible! Its the first time-constrained goal I've put on myself in a long time. I'd really like to make it work. That's only 2.5 lbs in two weeks!!
My commitment for today: lots of water, lots of walking, stay at or under 25 pts. 129, here I come!! Oh, and Vanessa, what great losses you've had! Glad you were able to catch yourself. Looks like we're in similar places now -- good luck getting back to the 120s!! S |
I bet you can make 129 in 2.5 weeks...no problem..
Like you i'm going to try and get more water in.. |
i have quite the amount to catch up on here, so i'll just pop in and say hi! i have to run off to a client in 10 minutes. hope everyone is doing well, as i see most are :)
suite - how fun that would be for your sister to have her baby as a birthday present. i was sort of one for my mom. her birthday is october 4th and i was born the 5th. that would be a fantastic birthday present for her indeed i'm sure! btw on a personal note, i have been really trying to staying OP and having been doing well, but the last three weeks have been a maintanence, a gain, and then a loss but only a pound since 4 weeks ago. kind of annoying. but that kind of stuff in the past would be the stuff to make me say EFF IT and eat something crappy. not this time :) |
Well I am back home and VERY happy to be here! I am officially 10 weeks today. I have my next ultrasound 2 weeks from Tuesday. Oh and did I mention that I had a remission test for the leukemia 2 weeks ago and it was negative? Next one will be on the 23rd of October, same day as the ultrasound.
Quote:
Vanessa - I'm sure some of that was just water weight! I have been tempted to buy candy corn, but luckily I have to think about not just me anymore when I eat. That tends to help in making good food choices! lizzy - I'm sure if you really put your mind to it you will be back on track in no time :) hope - Way to go on the attitude change! Lately for me its been "if I eat THAT I'm going to be sick, so instead I'll eat this other thing that is carby or very starchy". I definitely haven't been getting in enough veggies because of that. |
Good Morning!
I had one good day yesterday, or decent day, at least. 27.5 points, but I earned 3 activity, and then used a few flexies. Some of those points were alcohol, but I didn't overdo it. This morning, the scale said 130.6. So close!! Hopefully I'll stay OP today, too. I need to go grocery shopping and get settled back in at home after being away for a few days. Mod -- that is wonderful to hear about the remission test. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you for the next one! Tarah -- keep it up!! you'll get past the plateau. We always do! Vanessa -- thanks for the encouragement!! OK. I am going to get going. This day is going too quickly. Later!! S |
I'm new to WW. I am cautiously optimistic!
|
Welcome Celery, You will love it here, lots of support, advice and sharing of our days. Good Luck to you.
Mod- Welcome home. So happy to hear all is going so well for you. lizzy-one meal at a time, keep up the great work, you can do it!! |
Thank you, institches. This was my first day and it went very well!
|
:welcome2: celery!!
I had another pretty decent day yesterday. I have a question for you guys -- I started waitressing. I put that as activity last night -- many, many minutes of "leisurely walking." It ended up 13 APs! I kind of feel like I'm cheating...what do you think? S |
modkittn - I used to be a government contractor at a naval base in Charleston, that's where I met my husband when he was on shore duty. He's a submariner. That's great about your remission test being negative!
shrinkinglizzy - You're so close to your goal, that's awesome! As for all the APs from waitressing, hmmm. Since you're not eating 13 APs a day I wouldn't think that's cheating. celery - Welcome! I just started a few weeks ago myself. :) My mom left today after a week's visit. We only ate fast food one time, and I got a chili and side salad and NO soda. Much better than my old usual of a super-sized combo with a Coke. After a couple of days of hiking up my jeans, I went and dug a pair of my 16s out of the office closet and tried them on. They fit! :carrot: My other jeans were size 18 that I got at the Old Navy $12 jeans sale back in August, and they were unflatteringly snug then and are now too big. Woo hoo! I told DH, but he just can't appreciate the excitement of fitting into pre-pregnancy jeans. ;) |
HI ev1!
We've been zooming through late summer/fall with selling house, moving, trying to get everything together for closing for next mortgage! Things were clicking along, then a couple blips, but nothing major, now it's seeming like things are going to work out again. We're staying in our camper for the time being and long commute so more eating out than I would like, have been almost maintaining...but WW@Work is starting Oct. 22nd, so I'm taking this as an opportunity to get back on track for real and hopefully get back to goal. Mod, sounds like you have great news, congats on your 10 wks and remission, wishing you the best. My friend at work is due in March. good luck and best to all!! :sunny: |

Shrinking: It's so good to see you happy about everything...it seems that you are in an inspired mood...it's great! Great job on staying on track
Kestrel: Good job on staying on track with your mom. I have the same problems of eating really bad around my parents...I have the opposite problem when it comes to jeans. I bought a size 16 when I was 211 and then I gained 8 pounds back so now they don't fit! They were a little tight when I bought them and now they are unbelievable tight I can't even wear them! ~Well as for me, I haven't been posting in a while. I have been reading every page, but I don't really post because my weight loss has been a disaster. But today starts a new week for me, so I am going to try to stay on track all week, and not binge or use ALL my flex points. The problem is my boyfriend and my best friend both eat terribly and I am around them all the time, so I end up eating bad. I am definitely a food addict! |
Ugh I have now gained 7-8 pounds!!!! It was only 4... until I weighed myself this morning. I hadn't weighed myself in 2-3 weeks. I was also traveling, which is HORRIBLE for my weight. I know its mostly all fat that I gained and I can't do anything to get rid of it, which makes me kind of mad. I at least took that frustration and made a very healthy dinner last night - pork roast, roasted potatoes, corn, and cranberry sauce. Yummy!
|
Kestrel -- :bravo: on the jeans!! those are the best NSVs, IMHO. Denim NSVs. Woohoo!!
Kel -- wow you do have a lot going on!! Best of luck with everything. Sounds very hectic. Scorpio -- Vday -- you know what's funny is I hadn't even noticed that I am in a better mood. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Now, as for your struggles, I"m officially :kickbutt: for you! Do your boyfriend and best friend know that you're trying to lose? That might make it easier for you to turn down their nasty foods. I know you can do this!!! Mod -- that dinner sounds delish. Sorry to hear about the gain, but I definitely can't keep up with understanding what to expect when you're expecting! Don't you get to forgive yourself these things? Well, I forgive you, anyway! -------------------------- Ugh I had been doing so well, then last night ate a bunch of thai take out with my family. If I had remembered that my WI is this morning, I think I could have more easily abstained, but I forgot about that until after I had finished and felt soooooooo full. And the scale is showing it this morning, and I really don't want to count this weigh in because I think it's all water! Or, mostly water, anyway. So, today will be super low sodium and then I'll WI tomorrow. Hopw you all have wonderful days! S |
Hey gals! I have time to actually reply to everyone now :)
:welcome2: celery lizzy - I don't know about those waitressing points. In your previous job were you on your feet a lot? I don't know if I'd count it as leisurely walking either. I'd probably figure out the points for that and then cut it in half. But if you were on your feet at your previous job, I wouldn't put in for APs at all, since your body is used to that much activity. Sodium does me in too! Just drink lots and lots of water :) I had chinese this weekend - YUM. kestrel - Wow.. I think that submariners' wives must have it rough when they are at sea! Do you two have any children? kelijpa - I like having dates for goals - good luck getting on track! vdaybaby - I want to ask the same thing as lizzy. Do your boyfriend and friend know you are trying to lose weight? Have you talked to them about trying to be a little more supportive? |
